Re who is telling the truth, I don't trust any of them.
Where I am, there is a strange thing that happens in disasters etc, where instead of showing what is happening in the news, they stage it. I think it is because authoritarian governments want to control everything, And even when something is not under their control, they have to control the narrative. But the problem is, the news propaganda teams doing the staging are often not very good at it. That again appears to be a feature of authoritarianism. They are so used to not being questioned that they take it as a given that what they put out will not be questioned. Top down system. Questions and criticism can only go down, not up.
So you end up with some really odd mistakes. A photo set in state media of a flood rescue for example, where the same guy in a wheelchair is rescued twice, from different buildings. And in a later photo the same guy can be seen in the background stood having a smoke beside a bus.
And looking at the photos in the media from Tehran, there are tell tale signs there. I am 50 50 on them though so won't post what I am noticing.
Even with Reuters, CNN and Sky there the staging can't be ruled out. Bus them in, look at this, bus them out. And they can't really say anything, because if they do their press access is gone.
Totally for sure there is destruction in Tehran, but authoritarianism. Only their truth is allowed.
