For us, definitely Frasier.

Favourites include:

“Off you go…”

“Do I look like I scuba??”

”Fine! I guess I’ll just have to make my own tea!”

”I guess it must be too much to ask that there not be GUN PLAY in my living room!”

Lots of Hot Fuzz and variations thereof:
Yes but what will the team think?
Fascist! Hag!
The greater good
I'm not made of eyes
It's just the one swan actually.
Did you say 'Cool it?'
It's alright, Andy, it's just Bolognese!
Then I hit him with a peace lily
Everyone and their Mums is packing round here
Nobody tells me nothing.
And of course, yarp and narp.
Also Muppet Christmas Carol which I think we know off by heart 😁

Honourable mention to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

DH looked at me 🤔 the other day when I said “Jeez, you’re so un-hip it’s a wonder your bum doesn’t fall off.”

Other favourites include:

Buffy (“Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch.”; “What is your childhood trauma?” and “Don’t you have an elsewhere to be?” are the most used).

Hot Fuzz (“I’m not made of eyes”; “He’s auntie Jackie’s sister’s brother’s boy,”; “Morning Angle”; and “You’ve got a moustache.” being the most popular).

Scrubs (Pretty much any insult Dr Cox says)

'Allo 'Allo

Showing my age!

BebbanburgIsMine · 15/03/2026 14:28

Anything from Still Game for DD and me.

Various lines from The Last Kingdom for me.

Dappy777 · 15/03/2026 14:30

Withnail and I. Virtually every line is quotable:
"I demand to have some booze"
"We've gone on holiday by mistake"
"I feel like a pig shat in my head"

Monty Python gets quoted a lot. Oh, and Fawlty Towers. My all time favourite comic moment is the scene in Fawlty Towers where Basil is having a breakdown and someone says "I don't believe it." He replies "neither do I, perhaps it's a dream." Then he headbutts the desk, pauses for a minute and says "no, it's not a dream, we're stuck with it."

Oh, and Blackadder, especially the final series (set in WW1).

Does anyone quote from books as well? My family loves P. G. Wodehouse. Bertie says you should never shake your head when nursing a hangover, but in Wodehouse's sublime language it comes out as "one does not oscillate the bean." That often gets quoted.

Pashazade · 15/03/2026 14:35

And frequently quote the great Victoria Wood.

That one is small. That one is far away...

RunyoucleverDoctor · 15/03/2026 14:59

Hamilton, never going to be president now. And randomly, the Reynolds pamphlet, have you read it? Gets quoted a lot.

LER83 · 15/03/2026 15:18

We quote lots from National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, so many good ones from that film! Also quite a few from Friday Night Dinner. Most quoted line though is probably 'I don't know the code skipper' from Madagascar! Said in the penguin voice of course!

loislovesstewie · 15/03/2026 15:19

Father Ted
One Foot in the Grave
Anything by Monty Python.

Natsku · 15/03/2026 15:44

Probably the Simpsons, though that's mainly me (and my brother when he's over) quoting all the time, as we have done since childhood.
Me and DD quote Brooklyn 99, X Files and Parks and Recreation a lot.

If anyone asks what you want from the shop and you don’t want anything you just say “cornetto”.

Myoldbear · 16/03/2026 10:31

Dad's Army:

'Stupid boy!'

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 16/03/2026 10:37

The IT crowd is a daily one. Miranda gets a mention.

With my youngest daughter (eldest hasn’t watched) we often do Tubbs and Edward from League of Gentlemen. There is a Swansea!

AllJoyAndNoFun · 16/03/2026 10:39

Also if anyone mispronunces a foreign word its mandatory to say “chaise longue Rodney, chaise longue”

BananaSkinShoes · 16/03/2026 10:40

Loads from Curb, mostly ‘prettay, prettay good’ and ‘fuck you, you car wash cunt!’.

Jasmin71 · 16/03/2026 10:40

Blackadder
