It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker
(Edwin Starr 1970, written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong)

Unless, of course, your name ends in Trump, when it ain't nothing but an opportunity to grift, deflect and destroy.

Tried and failed posting his latest "truth" message.

His Chopperness doesn't sound best pleased with the world.

Thanks for the cut and paste @SerendipityJane .

I notice no mention of his rank in the army. So not high then I would presume. We are not talking Ike and Paton level. So not a choice between a clever fellow and a lunatic. We are talking about a grunt who is good at eating worms on survival training.

It sort of ties in with my post above about head of the snake and government collapse. Because when a regime is led by a lunatic such as Trump, there are plenty more lunatics appointed by them waiting in the wings.

Chief Warrant Officer 3. WOs rank above enlisted personnel but below regular commissioned officers. They start at plain Warrant Officer (WO1) and highest is CWO5.

Warrant Officers are usually technical experts in their field of expertise. Kent's was specializing in counterterrorism and special operations.

Say what you will about his personal beliefs and ethics, he does have an impressive service record. He was a Green Beret with the elite 75th aka the Airborne Rangers. Generally considered 'the best of the best of the best'.

AcrossthePond55 · 17/03/2026 15:49

I swear to God, if I see that fucking "Thank you for your attention to this matter" on his 'truths' one more time I am going to SCREAM! It is never relevant to what he's lying about!

What on Earth does he think that sentence means? That phrase is for when you're asking someone to do something on your behalf. It's like nails on a blackboard to me.

AcrossthePond55 · 17/03/2026 15:52

Oh, live broadcast of Scrotus' meeting with Irish Taoiseach Micheal Martin. Wonder how long before he changes the topic to his grievances.

This argument is the same as the Israeli army lady I heard on R4 yesterday. My recurrent thought is that if we were going to agree on the threat they would have enlightened us on their plan before illegally starting a war. The fact is they knew the world didn't think it was a threat which is why they had to start it illegally without any warning.

Totally fair enough re his service record. But he was not an officer. He was not making the ultimate decisions.

To me it could equate to a F1 pit lane mechanic v a senior design Engineer at the same F1 team, Who would be best placed to be Design Director ?

I get the flaw with that comparison of course, having worked under some terrible design directors.

:-)

The only player that works for me is RTE player, so that is where I get my telly news. Won't do live though, so will look forward to the RTE report later.

CWOs receive commissions from the POTUS, just like commissioned officers. They take the same oath as commissioned officers. They are considered officers and are saluted by lower ranking personnel. The main difference is that they usually serve in 'technical' positions rather than 'command' positions.

DuncinToffee · 17/03/2026 15:59

Trump is now saying he doesn't need any help.

Cool bro

Meanwhile US citizens are in danger of losing their vote if this bill passes.

The Senate will take up a strict voter identification bill that President Trump has demanded Congress deliver him, and that he and his Republican allies groundlessly claim is needed to combat mass voter fraud by noncitizens.
Passed narrowly by the House last month, the legislation, which Republicans call the SAVE America Act, would normally seem to have little chance of enactment given near-solid Democratic opposition. That means it lacks the 60 votes required to move to a final vote.
But Mr. Trump has ratcheted up the pressure on Republicans to push ahead anyway, vowing that he would refuse to sign any other legislation until the bill was sent to his desk. He has called the measure his “No. 1 priority,” saying it would “guarantee the midterms” for his party.
“If you don’t get it — big trouble,” the president told Republicans last week.
...
Many eligible voters would not meet the requirements.
An estimated 9 percent of eligible voters, or 21.3 million Americans, either do not have documents that prove their citizenship, such as passports and birth certificates, or cannot retrieve them in a day or less, according to a study by the Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement at University of Maryland and the Brennan Center for Justice. And 45 states do not issue the kind of enhanced driver’s license indicating citizenship status that would be needed to verify voting eligibility.
Citing those limitations, Democrats and election experts say that many voters would be disenfranchised by the measure. They have also raised concerns that women who change their name upon marriage and lack documents reflecting their current surnames could find it more difficult to register to vote.
...
States would be required to submit their voter rolls to the Department of Homeland Security, to be cross-referenced with citizenship data and purged of those deemed ineligible to vote. And election workers who fail to properly verify an applicant’s eligibility to vote could face criminal penalties.

Lindsay Graham's commander in chief has said that the US neither needs nor desires assistance from allies, so who the hell is Graham to whinge that the US is supposedly not getting assistance from allies?

(Bear in mind that the UK is already providing assistance in the ME and Mediterranean; even while Trump says it isn't needed and Graham says it isn't happening.)

RedTagAlan · 17/03/2026 16:14

"WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE !"

Ach. Our DD is fast approaching 14, so this sort of yell is becoming awfully familiar. Just the other night I was trying to show her how to size photos on LibreOffice PowerPoint to print them at the size she needed for her homework......

Ahh well.

With that in mind though. Can't the US congress hire a supernanny or someone similar to handle Trump ?

Jill Biden for example? She has a doctorate in education. She might be able to guide him through this phase ?

I have heard the senate are less keen

logicisall · 17/03/2026 16:21

I think the Zelensky is trolling Trump today...appeared in a suit.

Trump is complaining about the windmills in Scotland. The UK has oil in the North Sea yet buys windmills from China when China doesn't use them. They use coal.

logicisall · 17/03/2026 16:22

"The war is going to be over soon and just you watch, prices will fall so fast"...

logicisall · 17/03/2026 16:23

And the US doesn't need UK/Europe to help with Iran because others have stepped up - Saudi etc (named other ME countries)

SerendipityJane · 17/03/2026 16:25

I am amused that Trump no longer needs help with a war he pointedly won two weeks ago.

Well ain't that grand of him.

If I were Starmer I would make a very grovelling apology for not helping the US win Vietnam <mic drop>

Spandauer · 17/03/2026 16:30

After Trump disses Starmer, Irish leader Micheál Martin jumps in to defend Starmer and encourages Trump to get along with him. Martin then pivots to defending Ukraine -- a country Trump also dissed earlier in the event.

Joe Kent is a lunatic but has real political ambitions. He's trying to distance himself from this shitshow so he can ally with the Tucker Carlson/Megyn Kelly/Candace Owens/MTG tribe. Let's not fool ourselves that this is anything meaningful.

Oh quite. It's all rats fighting in a sack.

However seeing the right catch "Labour party syndrome" is quite amusing.

And congratulate him for winning the war against Iran. He won it so fast nobody noticed.

I am picturing a Trump supporting survivalist. Arriving in town from his off grid cabin in Montanna, after two weeks of ammo re- loading and gun emplacement building...

" War, there was a war with Iran.. and we won ? "

"Darn it, I need to go back and point my gun emplacement in the other direction."

And any bill sent to his desk and left unsigned by him passes into law after is it ten working days?

Watching this oval office broadcast is like when you get sat next to the crazy uncle at a wedding dinner and can't switch seats 🍊🤡
