It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker
(Edwin Starr 1970, written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong)

Unless, of course, your name ends in Trump, when it ain't nothing but an opportunity to grift, deflect and destroy.

Is there any pro Trump threads or posters still about ? I fancy popping along to see how it is going.

Do you mean pro Trump, Twiglets1 who kept insisting that my questioningTrump's side meant I trusted Iran's?

I’m thinking about way back when these threads first began, wasn’t there someone called Clegg, or something, who truly believed Trump could do no wrong and was clearly the second coming?

@AcrossthePond55- yeah I get the ‘ours not to reason why’ - I had an ex military manager once, bless him he got very confused with questions to start with - as in why would we even ask stuff!

I was thinking of the big chief military people who take the instructions- have they no room to double check the outcome expected?

I do expect Trump loves the military as they do just do what he says - he’d like the world to listen to his commands too!

And thank you - I really appreciate all your input on this thread - I’m aware some stuff I post will be very simplistic or naive or miss an obvious point - but this is a good place to learn.

I was thinking of the big chief military people who take the instructions- have they no room to double check the outcome expected?

You mean the Joint Chiefs of Staff? Interestingly enough the 'chain of command' bypasses them completely. They only serve in as senior military advisors and have no authority to issue orders.

The chain of command is POTUS > Secretary of War Defense > combatant commanders (CC). The CCs have no authority to countermand POTUS and are bound by the same military code as the lowliest private, to obey lawful orders or be court martialed. So we're back to that grey area of 'what is a lawful order'? They obviously felt that raiding Maduro's compound and essentially kidnapping him was lawful. And since they're obeying the current orders wrt Iran, they must think those are lawful too. Either that or that same 'grey area' that's apparently keeping Congress from doing anything. Or they're just a bunch of stinking cowards who care more for their jobs than living up to a basic moral code.

And thank you for the 'thank you'. This is a good place to learn things. I learn new things or new points of view to consider every day

I'm not the praying type, but I may change my ways if I can ensure no one mentions this to he who shall not be named - Newt Gingrich posted this on X after reading a substack:

"Instead of fighting over a 21-mile-wide bottleneck forever, we cut a new channel through friendly territory. A dozen thermonuclear detonations and you’ve got a waterway wider than the Panama Canal, deeper than the Suez, and safe from Iranian attacks."

He didn't read Jordan Schneider's substack all the way till the end where it said:

"The views expressed above do not necessarily represent those of anyone with brain cells."

RafaistheKingofClay · 16/03/2026 20:34

Haha I saw that last night. I’m not sure how friendly the ‘friendly territory’ is going to remain once you’ve set off 12nukes to carve a path through it.

Perhaps we could try out the effects in certain areas of Florida.

Nothing new. Was suggested in the 50s

If anyone knows the name of the ship/tanker, has a few minutes to spare and fancies a peek at where it is, this website is useful.

The thing is, we didn't question it being by him. Because he is so nuts, nothing is too unbelievable any more.

PermanentTemporary · 16/03/2026 22:57

I did wonder (in a slightly desperate’tell me somebody had some kind of plan’ way) if the ‘excursion’ was in some form floated/agreed at the Board of Peace? There are a lot of people in the region who would like to see the Iranian regime taken out, after all. Even if that were the case, I doubt they thought it would be like this.

RedTagAlan · 17/03/2026 05:13

I was reading that South Korea are starting to plan for fuel rationing of sorts, odd and even car number plates and so on.

But what is interesting is that they say they have not received any formal request to send ships to the gulf. So yup, it is looking more and more as if Trump has just "truthed" his order out, but has never actually told anyone in his admin to send out formal requests.

BruceAndNosh · 17/03/2026 07:37

Trump keeps on referring to the war as an "excursion" which sounds like a day out on a coach to Brighton.
I read somewhere the suggestion that some military bod referred to an "incursion" (cos that sounds more friendly than bombing) and Trump's got the terms confused.
The fixation with repeating verbal mistakes is common in dementia

RedTagAlan · 17/03/2026 07:41

Sky feed :

"Iranian missile strikes 'metres' from Netanyahu's office - state media
An Iranian missile launched this morning struck close to the office of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Iranian state Tasnim news agency reported.
The missiles hit positions "a few metres" from the building in central Jerusalem, according to the report.
Last week, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said it would hunt down Netanyahu before rumours began circulating online about his death, to which he responded by posting a video of himself buying a coffee."

Likely propaganda of course, but checking the Times of Isreal, missiles are getting through.

So it appears Trump is doing a Comical Ali.

I believe that the request was made via Rubio.
Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held phone talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, discussing current issues in the Middle East, the ministry said Monday.
The talks were held at the request of the U.S. State Department, it added.

South Korea is in a bit of a bind in its dealings with the US because of its dependence on US security help re North Korea.
