Friend told me not to text her …was I in the wrong ?

My friend and I text daily and she will send me pics of a holiday she’s booked or new things she’s bought or whatever really.
Anyway this weekend me and partner went away.
I have been quite down lately and my health hasn’t been the best so I’ve had a nice time away.
We went in a casino and literally never gamble but spent £10 on the machines.
I won £300 (well partner and I was sharing )
Anyway I showed my friend as I was excited (and didn’t think I was doing anything wrong )
We then won a couple more times and I text friend (we had been continuously texting so it wasn’t just about me winning )
We won another £500 altogether
I was so excited and after a few cocktails didn't think I was doing anything bad.
She replied “please don’t send me any more if you win,I don’t want to know that your winning money..it’s peeing me off seeing you winning”
I was a bit took a back.
Last week was her 30th so I took her out for a meal and spa day ..so I always make sure she has a nice birthday.
Did I do anything wrong?
I wasn’t trying to brag ,I was just excited because I never won anything in my life.

She’s not a good friend.

Seems a bit of an over reaction to me but....it depends on what you view as gambling.

I play poker and flatter myself I am not at all bad at it. But....I dont see it as gambling. I see my buy-in (the stake you pay to enter a tournament) as the cost of a ticket to play I game of strategy and luck that I enjoy. If I win, I win money yes but that isnt why I play. I play because I enjoy it and that money is written off as soon as I pay it. It would be no different (to me) to pay to join a backgammon tournament, which is very similar in terms of it being a mix of luck and strategy.

People like the OP who never go to casinos or gamble, but spend £10 or £20 to experience a casino when they are in one are not gambling imo. They have written off this money as soon as they decided to spend it, they are not doing it to try and win but to have the casino experience.

Someone who bets to win big, yes that is unattractive to me too.

When you've had a rough time lately what kind of true friend begrudges you a bit of fun and good time? Really, even if she was a bit hard up she should genuinely pleased for you.

I wouldn’t tell friends, as you don’t know the details of their financial situation and it can come across as crass.
It’s better to keep it to yourself. If you are drunk that just makes things more annoying .

Sounds like a sarcy comment, you are reading too much into it. I am from the North and we say stuff like this to eachother all the time.. I would reply with a middle finger emoji.. No offence will be taken 🤣

I can’t imagine ever texting a friend like that, doesn’t matter how hard up I was, I’d always be happy of a friend was having some good luck.

TBH I think once or maybe twice ,fine .However winning 3 or 4 times nearly £800 is pushing it a bit really .Shes only human, and is at home a bit skint and fed up.Then she get text after text saying you have won a good bit of cash!

You did nothing wrong she’s just green with envy. Friends should be pleased for you.
