What are your extravagant spends that you have zero guilt about

LittlePrecious · 05/03/2026 15:24

My mum lives about 130 miles away from me. I visit her three times a year. I always get an Uber there and a first-class train back.

My friend nearly fell off her seat laughing at my extravagance when I told her about this earlier today😅😅😅

My DH has a bit of a tinned fish habit and can easily spend £70 a month on it.

What ridiculous, extravagant things do you spend money on with zero guilt?

Have you tried this one? It's v nice

My expensive spend is a one-off. I bought a vintage Vivienne Westwood dress. I honestly don't know when I will ever wear it, but now and then I take it out of the wardrobe and gloat over it. Sometimes I even try it on, it looks amazing!

I never spend more tha a few bob on clothes, usually discounted from already low prices, so I'm not sure what came over me. Actually, I do. It was accidentally dipping into the MN style section and being seduced by a few posts there.

Never mind showing us the fish, show us the dress!

Air con.

I was a bit hesitant at first. But if I could go back now I would do it sooner and with no guilt. It's a life changer, I love it 😍

BangingOn · 06/03/2026 17:13

Mounjaro (or Wegovy more recently)
Bamboo bedding
Aromatherapy candles from a lovely independent candle maker
Pilates reformer membership
Diptyque car fragrance
Private school for DS (this is definitely a luxury for us, but DS needs the support)
Root touch up at the hairdresser every 3 weeks due to incredibly persistent greys

FictionalCharacter · 06/03/2026 17:26

@PermanentTemporary can you recommend shoe brands? I've had a lifetime of pain because I have ridiculous feet that aren't shoe shaped!

NailsHairNipsHeels · 06/03/2026 17:27

Botox
Monthly massage
my “fancy” watch
1000TC Egyptian cotton bedding

id eat beans on toast rather than give any of them up!

Theatre tickets, particularly ballet at Covent Garden.

Tell me about it. This morning I spent £320 on a pair of tickets for the Royal Ballet.
Confused

Treats for DC. Ice creams on a hot day. Swimming at nice pools. Cinema/VR tickets.

My garden. I want it perfect but can’t be arsed to do any real work in it myself, so I pay three gardeners. It’s beautiful and makes me super happy. Costs up to £150 a week

£150 a week?

a week?

how big is it?

CosyFawn · 06/03/2026 17:56

I have a few.

my piano.
”the Book”
going out every weekend
eating out/expensive takeaways
wine/whiskey
first class trains & Ubers to places I could drive

HorsesAreRunningOn3LegsTonight · 06/03/2026 17:56

Spending nearly £ 2k at the start of every year for a 5 day stay for me and DH at a gorgeous health spa.

Karenandfour1 · 06/03/2026 17:57

If I want it and can afford it, I’m having it. No guilt whatsoever 😂

What’s “the Book”? Or am I very naive?

Would you be willing to share where?

Was looking at options last night, having never done it before.

CherryGurl73 · 06/03/2026 18:05

Gig tickets. I probably could have gone on a luxury holiday each year the amount I spend but I don't care. Live music brings me so much joy and it's worth every penny!

I treat myself to nice gifts for my birthday and Xmas -bought myself a designer rug for Xmas. Other things have included a Lalique ring, a sewing machine and a very nice car.

This is a really nice idea. My bday is Christmas Eve so I will find something I really want and treat myself :-) xx

Lurpak!

I love this one!

Bingbongsingalong · 06/03/2026 18:09

Until recently I said i'd never buy anything other than Tampax Pearl tampons, because I hate cheap sanitary products. However, they are so fucking expensive now that I can't justify the price difference, so now I buy Tesco own brand and seethe about it all week.

Other than that, my 6yo daughter's ice skating hobby is pretty astronomical, and she doesn't even compete yet! However we both love it, and i'm living vicariously through her, so I don't care!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 05/03/2026 15:41

Crumpets. Before you say they're not expensive, I'm not in the UK. I have to pay around £5 for a pack of 6 and a further £15 delivery charge. For crumpets.

Have you thought bought making them? So easy and delicious.

Flossy1985 · 06/03/2026 18:09

Might not seem extravagant but I collect Dr Martens and have a very expensive collection of them think I’m up to 35 pairs now 😂

Yes - Ragdale Hall nr Melton Mowbray. I’ve mentioned on here before and had a few sarky comments about spending that amount. We go every year , sometimes twice. To me it’s worth every single penny , and beats every other spa I’ve been to hands down x

caringcarer · 06/03/2026 18:11

Breakfast out for 5 of us once a week and DH and I go twice more each week too. I know it's a bit extravagant but I enjoy a breakfast out more than a lunch out.

RJMacReady · 06/03/2026 18:11

Korean skincare. It's pricey but I love it!

Rachand23 · 06/03/2026 18:12

OP Find a cheap flight (day trip) to any Spanish city and fill an empty suitcase with tinned fish lol! It will be cheaper. My husband loves tuna in olive oil and I had to buy 2 tins the other day from Sainsbury’s - cost just short of £10.

Frogrex · 06/03/2026 18:14

My 2 pedigree cats that need different food and litter than my very economical moggies!
