What are your extravagant spends that you have zero guilt about

My mum lives about 130 miles away from me. I visit her three times a year. I always get an Uber there and a first-class train back.

My friend nearly fell off her seat laughing at my extravagance when I told her about this earlier today😅😅😅

My DH has a bit of a tinned fish habit and can easily spend £70 a month on it.

What ridiculous, extravagant things do you spend money on with zero guilt?

In love tinned fish but am more of a mackerel in spicy tomato sauce lover and we had tonned anchovies last night. What sort of fish is he getting? Might broaden my horizons

I spent almost 12k on getting my teeth done a few years ago: braces, eight composite bonds, whitening and four veneers. Have never for a moment regretted it or felt bad about the expense.

I have been thinking about wishing my teeth were straighter it never even occurred to me getting braces, does it work well when in adulthood? Are they braces you only wear at night or during the day too? I didnt ideally want them visible. What are composite bonds?

My drug dealer Defender - £1600 a month lease
i always travel FC on the train

Small daily luxuries which brighten the day.. my first coffee from my Sage bean to cup made with my favourite coffee beans and butter on freshly baked sourdough. My dog and my sports car make me smile.

I then save and spend on my main luxury - travel. I try and do 6 trips a year.

Summersongroses · 06/03/2026 18:18

Fresh flowers. Always have them on my kitchen island. They make me happy!

WhitePudding · 06/03/2026 18:20

I have leisure access at a local hotel but depending on guests/spa day guests can be really full at times and they hog the hot tub so occasionally I pay to go to a private pool for an hour. Also eat out at cafes Saturday and Sunday.

I must say, this is my favourite mn post ever! I love some of these answers. I guess my guilt free splurge would be interiors magazines & decent chocolate (amongst other stuff 🤦‍♀️)

A friend laughed at me having Ocado deliveries but I don't see that as an extravagance, and they're pretty reliable and convenient.

An expensive bed. Well worth it.

Also my trainers are £180. Same friend doesn't know they cost that much but is of the view that £30 is all you need to spend on trainers.
But mine are uber comfortable. So worth it.
My feet and knees can't cope with cheap footwear.

Lidl's single origin Columbian coffee

For the shoe question, Camper are my favourite, especially the ones with ortholite soles. They have also never given me blisters and I think my feet are prone to them.

Ideally go in to a shop or order a couple of sizes, as they vary, often I size up, but they do vary by style (ballet flats and loafers tend to come up bigger, more formal shoes and boots 1 size smaller).

They frequently do 50% off sales.

Crumpets. Before you say they're not expensive, I'm not in the UK. I have to pay around £5 for a pack of 6 and a further £15 delivery charge. For crumpets.

Oh bless. They are lovely though. X

mine either. Sadly I have extremely wide feet so my shoe choices are limited but my trainers are leather and cost 100 quid a pop. In winter I wear hikers from the same company (rural life) and they cost around 135.

I really do not think that shopping deliveries are an extravagance and Ocado price matches with Tesco so while you can get extravagance there, you can also buy down to earth. My delivery pass costs me a little over 8 quid a month and for that I can have a delivery every single day!

Our cleaner, she’s not cheap and she comes weekly, and I’d argue she’s an essential not an extravagance but I admit we could do it ourselves easily.
I spend a lot on fashion and have one of those clothes & accessories personal shopper delivery subscriptions.
My car, it’s top of the range with every bell & whistle… I don’t really need a car anymore.
Our dog gets spoilt - again arguably essential expenditure.
DP spends a lot on craft beers.
Flowers for me and my mum - ‘ordinary’ bunches weekly and huge spendy bouquets every couple of months.
Concert tickets, best seats, hate crap seats.

Sadcafe · 06/03/2026 18:39

I suppose the Lamborghini and the Aston Martin were a bit extravagant, I’m waiting to buy a Bugatti, but as yet Lego haven’t bought that one out

We're doing a big house move/downsize in the summer so I've paid for a decluttering lady to come once a month in the run-up and then she's going to come help us unpack and organise the house when we move in. It's such an extravagance as of course I could just declutter myself, but I also know myself - I manage to get things into bags in the hall, that then sit there for ages because I don't know where to take them. She's been completely amazing so far and through her we've donated so many things to good homes that I had been struggling to know what to do with for years.

Other extravagances:
Small group PT session with friends once a week
Really nice gin
A Vispring mattress - worth every penny after years of futons or the cheapest Ikea ones
Skin & me subscription

I really want to start getting regular massages, but don't know where to go - might have to ask around.

Nice hotels, good hand soap, nice shampoo, pre grated cheese, first class trains and business class planes, on occasion

My veneers. Cost me £10k here in the uk but have made a big difference to my confidence. I used to try to smile with my mouth closed.

I have a £2.5 k pair of binoculars. I’m not usually known for splashing the cash, but these were worth every penny (yes, really!).

I’m a little sad to report that it appears that buying these things also bought me a disproportionate amount of respect amongst “typical bird watchers” (think older men), who’ve gone from completely ignoring me to actively making space for me in bird hides. It’s hilarious 😆

I often think that other birdwatchers are like other people's children. Best avoided.

I’ve had a really tough week and this thread has made it a little brighter loved reading what you all enjoy spending your money on
