What are your extravagant spends that you have zero guilt about

My mum lives about 130 miles away from me. I visit her three times a year. I always get an Uber there and a first-class train back.

My friend nearly fell off her seat laughing at my extravagance when I told her about this earlier today😅😅😅

My DH has a bit of a tinned fish habit and can easily spend £70 a month on it.

What ridiculous, extravagant things do you spend money on with zero guilt?

Love these! There are some fantastic suggestions.

JaffavsCookie · 05/03/2026 20:22

Also my horses, zero fucking guilt. Probably would be under the ground without them

Pureclass · 05/03/2026 20:24

Dior lipstick

A skincare addiction where im planning to add in medi-cosmetic facials, possibly slight filler

High threadcount bedding

Freeze dried fruit for oats and yogurt- esp mango and raspberries

You can get 100% real Greek yogurt in lidl for about £1.50 for 500g

Also for the lady who buys magazines- with a Kindle unlimited subscription, (usually 99p for 3 months, then 6.99? Then "leave" every so often for another offer) Red and Grazia as well as most other magazines are included in the subscription
I just use the kindle app on my phone or tablet, but its not the same as a glossy mag I admit.

You all deserve this. Enjoy those indulgences! I've loved reading about them.

Moth margaritas
Suede boots
Good wine
White company grapefruit candle when rarely in stock ( don’t like the one with mandarin too)
Books

Skincare (mid range not £100s), grazia and red magazines. Something I wouldn’t have thought twice about years ago but now magazines are so expensive! Also organic fruit when I can get it. Also so expensive and not as readily available.

Might be Worth checking your local library to see if they have borrow box. Both Grazia and Red are on mine.

Luxury yarn for knitting.
Seatfrog upgrades to first class when I'm travelling more than 2 hours on a train.
Mounjaro
Quality earbuds for listening to music
Solo hotel stays to let my mind unwind and NO ONE talking to me.

TheNameWasOnceChosen · 05/03/2026 20:42

Cleaner.
As many cruises as possible (won't fly). Been all over and I've spent 1000's over the last 2 years.

pointythings · 05/03/2026 20:46

I could say my 5 cats, but they're essential.
So I'm going to go with my weekend treat coffee - single estate single varietal organic from a small local roastery near me. Between £9 and £12 for a 250g bag. Worth it.

Nichebitch · 05/03/2026 20:47

A pair of hot pink manolos for my wedding. I wear them in special occasions and still make me happy

CookingFatCat · 05/03/2026 20:47

My braces, which cost £3500 and now I have straight teeth, and can smile freely 😁and my red light panel which was about £700 I use on my face, body, any injuries. Definitely with the money.

Oh that looks fantastic!

It feels absolutely solid as in well made, and doesn’t come rolled up or anything. I didn’t realise how shit my old one was until I slept on this!
they also gave me 10% discount as it arrived with a tiny dust mark on

Well I have read every post and realised I don't have any extravagances

I'm amazed at how much people can spend! I don't have extravagances and it annoys me that I don't like spending on myself. We were in a Mulberry outlet and OH wanted to buy me a handbag I'd admired, I almost wrestled his card off him, similarly he wanted to buy me a Mont Blanc pen and I managed to stop him! Maybe I should try harder, I will only buy Staedtler pencils so that's a start, I go through a lot of pencils doing puzzles etc..

Agree, I eat it every day too, it's amazing. Yeo Valley 5% fat for me, costs about £5 from Ocado for a big pot and I get through 2 a week, but so worth it.

Aldi £1.99 for 500g,10% fat for me. I had it at breakfast AND after dinner today. Brilliant stuff!

I work out a lot so I have a HUGE number of cute matching gym outfits. I could go to gym every day without doing laundry for weeks. Do I need all those sets? Of course not, 2 random ones to rotate would be enough. But they make me happy.

I have probably the same number of gym sets and have been to the gym twice in the last 6 months 🫣

Endofyear · 05/03/2026 20:53

Lipton lemon iced tea - it's expensive and full of sugar but I bloody love it! No guilt whatsoever 😁

HonoraBridge · 05/03/2026 20:54

First class on trains; first or business class on flights; suites in hotels; five star hotels; eating out as much as we want; multiple holidays in the UK and overseas each year etc

Kalanthe · 05/03/2026 20:54
  • Waitrose weekly shop (it’s the nearest)
  • Coffee beans which I grind in a Baratza
  • Numerous kitchen appliances such as Kitchenaid, waffle maker etc which I buy and use twice a year 😂
  • Botox 3 times a year
  • Fresh flowers bought weekly
  • Cleaner

Well, it is a start JudgeJ, but a Mont Blanc would be rather nice for puzzling ...

ChaliceinWonderland · 05/03/2026 20:55

Gym membership.
Retinol cream.
Massages.

There are loads of magazines on Borrow box through my library, but reading online is just not the same as having a 'proper' magazine.

I pay for the Readly app for every magazine you can think of! They always have offers on for subscriptions.

It's not very extravagant but we buy absolutely shit loads of diet coke a month - those massive boxes of cans. Me, DH and DS are allowed max 1 a day.

I'm not usually a brand slave but has to be proper Diet Coke, no imitations allowed!

whatthedickens5 · 05/03/2026 20:58

My two moggies. They bring me the utmost joy and I love them dearly. They do cost me £200 pm but to me it is worth every penny. I'm not into fashion, drinking, eating out or shoes!

Theatre tickets- I know from experience that if I go cheap or even mid-price I spend the whole performance wishing I hadn't.

Diary from Smythson every year- very expensive but also my best value for money purchase of the year.

Wine, on the basis that I plan to drink less if it's very nice but this hasn't really worked so far.

Diary from Smythson every year-

Me too. I have to love it to want to keep opening it.

And flowers, flowers and more flowers.

When I get to my goal weight and have a boob reduction, I'm going to have a capsule custom wardrobe made.

It will help me keep on the straight and narrow to have clothes tailored to fit.
