Surely this can only be a good thing if that tyrant is no more. However hopefully it won't lead to months/years of fighting and bloodshed

Hoping for a good outcome for Iranians now. 🤞
What a terrible regime.

I for one am celebrating his death!

This all my people have wanted for nearly 50 years.

We Iranians aren’t naive. We fully understand geopolitics perfectly well. We know foreign governments arent saviours, and we don’t need to be schooled on who the so-called “good” or “bad” actors are as so many have tried to do especially over the last couple of months. After 50 nearly years of surveillance, repression, and state violence, we know exactly how power operates.

and for anyone who judges how iranians are feeling right now need to understand that People living under pressure for years don’t respond in neat, morally polished ways. Their emotions are layered, complicated, and earned. Instead of policing how they should feel, recognise that those reactions come from lived experience most outsiders will never truly understand

I am happy for you and all Iranians who suffer for so long.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2026 21:52

CNN reports Trump confirms ayatollah's death.

Overtheatlantic · 28/02/2026 21:55

But trump is a known prolific liar

Addybee · 28/02/2026 21:55

Sadcafe · 28/02/2026 21:46

He would be no loss , be good to think it would help stabilise the region, but realistically it will just give the extremists more reason to hate the west

Of course it will upset extremists. Any shift away from the Islamic Republic threatens the structures that have enabled and financed them. Extremism won’t magically disappear, it never does anywhere in the world but that doesn’t mean 80+ million people should remain trapped under a regime to prevent backlash. Stability built on fear isn’t stability

Newsenmum · 28/02/2026 21:49

Oh wow! I cant believe it. How on earth did they get him?

Because even without US intel, Israel generally knows exactly where all of the leaders of enemy states and organisations are. They simply take them out when it suits them by placing 2000lb of HE on their heads.

Dymaxion · 28/02/2026 22:00

What will the military in Iran do if its true the Ayatollah is dead ? Isn't there someone waiting in the wings to step in and take his place ?

Obviously I hope there isn't but they have been in place for so long it seems odd if there isn't any contingency plan.

I’m sure I saw reports his son and successor was also killed but I could be wrong.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 28/02/2026 22:04

I sometimes take photographs for social media, of events where there are occasionally Iranians. I always ask if it’s ok and say what for. Iranians often ask not to be included as it can cause problems for their extended family.

PenelopeAsks · 28/02/2026 22:06

This isn’t the end, it isn’t even the beginning of the end. I truly wish the Iranian people a safe future but these bastards won’t give up easily. The snake’s head might have been cut off but two can grow in its place.

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 28/02/2026 22:06

Ding dong the witch is dead.
My love to all those who have suffered for decades under this evil regime.
Well deserved celebrations and congratulations to the Iranian people.

Nosejobnelly · 28/02/2026 22:06

One less murderous cunt on the earth can only be a good thing.

Livelovebehappy · 28/02/2026 22:07

I’m sure Trump will know the probability of someone as equally evil as the deceased Ayatollah being in place within the next 24 hours is a given. So I think maybe a possibility of him having involvement in getting into power someone who the Iranians are happy with? Otherwise it will all be for nothing. I’m guessing the Ayatollah at 87 was not calling the shots anyway.

BatchCookBabe · 28/02/2026 22:08

All over the news now.

SpottyAlpaca · 28/02/2026 22:12

One would have thought that, by now, the world would have learned what happens when strongmen leaders of middle-eastern countries are forcibly removed by western military action. Destabilisation of the country and the region. Insurgency. Sectarian conflict. Civil war. Religious extremism & terrorism. Etc etc.

Evidently not…

Alternativelyviewed · 28/02/2026 22:12

Iran is not all the other countries mentioned it was very liberal and forward thinking

Alternativelyviewed · 28/02/2026 22:13

@SpottyAlpaca religious extremism is already deeply rooted there

Llttledrummergirl · 28/02/2026 22:17

It's not being announced as confirmed here. Just that liar in chief has announced in on his social media. There are lots of careful statements including the word if.

Pollyanna87 · 28/02/2026 22:19

Javid Shah

LadyWiddiothethird · 28/02/2026 22:23

So if Trump said he’s dead,we can take it with a pinch of salt.He is a prolific liar.

I’m so sorry Iran has gone through so much. I cannot imagine.

I can think of some other tyrants out there we might also be happy to lose. 🙄

👏

TheFilliesWillRiseAgain · 28/02/2026 22:32

Incredible that Trump got Maduro in one single military operation and the Ayatollah in another single military operation. And it's only February!

Am celebrating with the people of Iran tonight. I cannot imagine how happy you must be feeling to be rid of this tyrant. It sounds like the entire regime is on the brink of collapse now - wonderful news!

Oh. That’s a bit embarrassing for the pp. And for all the other sour anti-Westerners.

Who in their right mind wouldn’t accept the news and rejoice in the death of a homicidal despot?
