I don't follow him, but I can why you're surprised, it isn't how we're used to seeing him. However to my eye he just looks calm, well and happy and he isn't over inflated with mad energy making the trademark faces.

I noticed Cillian Murphy’s face had changed two years ago when he was campaigning for an Oscar - he looked fine then, but I just googled him and noticed he was at the BAFTA’s last weekend looking, well, not too great. Perhaps the work becomes addictive.
