@DenizenOfAisleOfShame you know how when you come on here, depending on your settings I guess, you get a snapshot of what's been said on the thread?

All I got was what you've written in capital letters. I thought you'd all taken leave of your senses this morning 😂

@TheNuthatch I didn't realise she had to do her debut today. Not sure I can bear to look.

I must get off here, cause I've got lots of work to do and I've already wasted time because it's sunny!!!!!! MaybeThat's why the birds were singing so loudly at 2:15 in the morning 😂 - they knew sunshine was coming?

TheNuthatch · 02/03/2026 12:08

@EmeraldRoulette Enjoy the sunshine, we don't see it often enough. Busy day for me too, working near a Booths so I'm going there for my lunch. 😋
I will try not to spend an absolute fortune <must not get a trolley> 😂

Never heard of Booths. Goes off to be nosey 😁

Wonder if the new MP will be bringing a bag of Greggs sausage rolls to the chamber for her new friends 😀

DH doesn't trust the woman, he was absolutely scathing yesterday.

Out of interest, why doesn't he trust her? What was he scathing about?

I can understand that view of Mahmood.

She’s taken pro-Palestine and other left-Labour positions in the past. That didn’t stop her from having her majority cut from over 28,000 to 3,500 at the last GE (Birmingham Ladywood). So I expect we’ll see her make some loud anti-Israel and other ‘soft’ left noises come the election.

But for now she’s hitched her wagon to Starmer’s. He’s shat the bed on small boats and has ordered her to ‘get tough’. So she’s posturing as a practical, right-wing Labour pol. She twists in the political wind.

Still, so long as she shuns stupid left-wingery, fair enough.

A touch of normality in the middle of the current madness. I envy you Booths.🙂

I always make the trolley mistake (I have a bad shoulder so try to avoid baskets).

I've had to stop getting the Booths TGTG bags. £5 on the bag and £40 in store whilst waiting for the bag to be ready! 🤣😬😩

(I'm 6 miles from one Booths and about 12 miles from another.)

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 02/03/2026 13:53

Starmer’s cowardice is now being called out publicly - “pearl clutcher” 🤭 - by the US. But the left of his party is unhappy that he’s caved in on the use of British bases. Starmer’s really fucked this up.

Par for the course. Blair ignored the nonsense from the lefties

Laughing at your hugely expensive TGTG bags 😂

I was very good, got a basket 😇. I bought loads of pies (food of the Gods) so will have them for tea.

Haha.

Starmer is excellent at this. He announces something that angers half the population - defends it, waits too long, then U turns - angering the other half aswell.
End result - everybody despises him.

Ha yes very good. He really does.

TheNuthatch · 02/03/2026 15:27

Bollard giving a statement to the house at 3.30pm.

Looking forward to Kemi's response.

EasternStandard · 02/03/2026 15:30

Reading the Greens pamphlet for May 7th apparently only the Greens can beat Labour. What to do!

They sell in cleaner, safer streets I wouldn’t say no

Anyone else got the same issue with voting at local elections?

RelativisticJet · 02/03/2026 15:30

In other news…

Rachel Reeves is preparing to slow down increases to the youth minimum wage over fears that Labour is making it too expensive to hire young workers. The chancellor is planning to water down Labour’s commitment to a single minimum wage for all workers over 18, by telling pay advisers it does not have to happen until the 2030s, according to people familiar with Reeves’ thinking.

Water down, u-turn, withdraw, reset…

I haven't had any leaflets yet, but suspect I will face the same predicament in May.

I think I'll just vote tory. Save the tactical voting stuff for the GE.

I’ve only known Labour and I’m fed up with that, plus generally just how I feel about the current lot. They shouldn’t just rely on London.

I’d like a change but I feel uncomfortable with some of the Greens main policies and I want Kemi to do well.

Oh well I have a couple of months to sweat it out 😅 anyone with same dilemma let me know!

Excellent response from Kemi 👏

I've never step foot in one of these mythical booths but I have ordered the Xmas catalogue once .

EmeraldRoulette · 02/03/2026 17:21

@EasternStandard you've only ever lived under a Labour council? I think they are a marginally lesser evil compared to the Greens!

@justasking111 i'm guessing your husband feels the same as me about the home secretary. Basically, I do not trust someone who has openly expressed the opposite view for such a long time. I think she's just paying lip service to the job.

I've only ever once been in Booths when I was up north for work. I do remember thinking that if catering hadn't been provided, that would have been the place to get my lunch!

Aww, did she get it wrong again? Poor lamb.

Are we back to just soggy toast clubs as their only achievement then? 🤔

Nearest one is an hour's drive away from home, so I rarely go. My bank balance, and my figure are very grateful that there isn't a Booths nearby. 😂
