Relieved to see the assisted dying bill in Scotland was voted down last night, 69-57, and that the concerns about coercion has been taken seriously.

Personally, I have no faith that the safeguards and limitations wouldn't be forever watered down. The fact that they only added a six months or less prognosis clause last week in an attempt to push it over the line tells you exactly where they wanted this to head.

Whereistheejectbutton · 18/03/2026 09:51

Agreed @Upstartled there’s so much evidence that in places where it’s legal it’s become the expectation and that there has been coercion. A good result. The fact the disability charities and medical people in this space overwhelmingly against is decisive for me.

Whereistheejectbutton · 18/03/2026 09:54

It was Rory S on TRIP who was saying Trump’s gauge idea he could find a more moderate cleric to do business with in Iran is one of the many critical misjudgments he’s made on Iran…

it’s a worry isn’t it, a US going it alone without an exit plan…

Agree. Its good news.
The govt don't seem to have any appetite for stepping in in Westminster either, so hopefully thats the end of it.

TheNuthatch · 18/03/2026 12:16

Kemi asked 6 questions, Starmer answered none of them. Pathetic.

EasternStandard · 18/03/2026 12:16

Bloody hell it’s tortuous listening to Starmer. Ik I shouldn’t, I usually don’t bother. Too excruciating.

What an utter pillock.

😬 I got to question three on Times and bailed. Too much on this fine day.

Fark though people still love and back him on here. He’s excruciating.

🤣🤣 Don't blame you.

Does Starmer think the Mandelson files will just go away if he ignores it?
He's now defending ending jury trials. Prick.

Yes I think he thinks it’ll go away. He’ll keep deflecting and not answering.

Idk how some still back him.

DancingFerret · 18/03/2026 12:30

And he said Kemi is irrelevant - again. The last resort of those backed into a corner is hurling insults.

Someone needs to hand KS a dictionary so he can look up the meaning of accountability.

DancingFerret · 18/03/2026 12:34

Andrew Snowden (Conservative, Fylde) just asked KS another question about Mandelson. The response? A waffle about the war in Iran. FFS!

Thats all he has left - insults. Its Starmer who is irrelevant. A tory MP just asked him about Mandelson again, same response. He's also shaking again.
Even Rayners attacking him whenever she gets a stage.

I’m glad he’s shaking. I don’t watch so can’t see it. All I get is the arrogance of the replies.

Insults and deflection is all he has left, sod him.

TheNuthatch · 18/03/2026 12:51

Labour MP on Sky now doing the same. Asked about Mandelson, answering with the war in Iran. Its insulting, and the public do care about Mandelson. Also, recent polling shows that most people think Starmer has handled Iran badly, so not sure why he thinks this is a good idea. Roll on May.

I'm off to the garden, far too nice outiside to be listening to this bollocks. 😎

He’s going to hide behind the war in Iran. His supporters love it. Thankfully there aren’t many of those left.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 18/03/2026 13:37

He's so slippery, is Starmer.

TheNuthatch · 18/03/2026 14:43

Ooh, just had a parrot on my bird feeder for the first time. They're spreading oop north. Surprised how big it was!

JaneV1984Madness · 18/03/2026 15:11

Not well today for the first time I head some of pm question times .

Absolutly.appaling man ,as sanding said three times she asked him and he was rude and nasty to her.

JaneV1984Madness · 18/03/2026 15:12

He also kept saying about kemi not thinking about dragging us intonwar and what's best for the British people.

No mention that the British people would soon be facing shortages and possibly rations !

JaneV1984Madness · 18/03/2026 15:18

@Upstartled that still makes my heart sink having sat by the bed of a terminally I'll parent dying of heart disease.
I fully believe we must have the choice to die in peace and dignity with as little pain as possible

Yes, having sat with my father who died after a lifetime with chronic illness, I think it's a shame we have the tools for a peaceful death but none of the social safeguards to ensure that it would not be meated out in such a way to ensure the disabled and vulnerable were not frogmarched to their death.
