Tbf they’re not alone.

I remember pre GE they all wanted Labour in. The Times, FT, The Sun. Now they’re enduring Starmer as we are and he’s unbearable.

Thanks for the share. Yes, accurate summary of yesterday's utter waste of time. Glad the inflation lie got a mention.

The Times refused to back Labour at the last minute, just before the GE. Labour deserve everything they get after what they did to Gabriel Pogrund.

It really is just MN now for Labour support. Starmer still has some superfans on here, Lord knows why.

This week's YouGov poll

He doesn't have that many choices IMO.

On the one side there is Trump demanding he sends ships.

On the other there is the left of the party demanding he stays out of it.

He hasn't got many options in terms of sending ships anyway as most of the ships are in repair.

The decision maker is probably if rationing comes in, because the general public has a pretty low tolerance for this sort of stuff nowadays.

Once the narrative that the Strait is being kept closed because Starmer is not sending ships to help keep it open takes hold then it's not easy to see how he comes out of it well.

It's a tightrope walk that I'm guessing any party in power would struggle with atm.

Maybe the hope is Macron or the Germans will send some ships to help keep the Strait open. A game of chicken amongst European leaders.

41% of voters think the prime minister has responded badly to the US's actions against Tehran, versus 37% well.
This YouGov polling shows deep scepticism about the conflict and a decisive majority who want the UK to avoid becoming directly involved. Given that, it should follow that people would look favourably on the prime minister's largely 'hands off' approach. But they don't. Just 37% say he has responded well to the crisis with 41% saying the opposite. The mismatch suggests to me that Starmer's broader unpopularity may now be polluting policies that the public actually approve of and bending them out of favour because of the standing of the man who is coming up with them.https://news.sky.com/story/voters-split-over-whether-starmer-is-handling-iran-war-well-13520603

Voters split over whether Starmer is handling Iran war well

The findings reveal a mismatch, says Sky's political correspondent Rob Powell. Voters seem broadly supportive of the position the prime minister has taken - and yet still don't seem convinced about how he's dealt with the crisis.

@CruCru ’this press conference could’ve been a tweet’ - spot on there!

Whereistheejectbutton · 17/03/2026 16:21

@TheNuthatch that’s exactly how I feel - KS doesn’t seem to have obviously judged the Iran conflict incorrectly as yet but my faith in him is non existent. Something like it worries me that someone with such poor judgment in general could ever be right at this point.

CandidLurker · 17/03/2026 16:43

Article in The Times saying that the Labour Party paid a KC potentially tens of thousands of pounds to review Angela Rayner’s tax affairs. Quoting a couple of party members not overly happy that Labour Party funds used in this way.

Looking at the front page of today's FT,, she's also been making a few quid on the speaking circuit to pay her tax bill.
I can only assume that finance bosses are paying her to speak as a form of entertainment 😂

I doubt she’s unaware of her tax bill. That’s a matter for her, privately.

What’s so obviously wrong - among many other things - about Rayner is that she opposed two jobs for MPs and then took a second job.

Labour is the absolute mother lode of hypocrisy.

Yep. Surely this will rub up against the new rules Labour brought in on second incomes? (Lucy Powell iirc).
She could be accused of advising on future Labour policy and charging for it.

JaneV1984Madness · 17/03/2026 20:18

Well i don't envy the position he is in !.
However I can't see why we can't send some underwater missile things ? Apparently we have 17 and some are in our waters to protect against Russia..

17!!

I guess we have to hope Iranian factories and supplies of missiles and drones run out or get taken out by USA and Israel very soon..

All the military types I've seen on the news and heard on the radio said w should be doing something to help in some way !

Whatever the right thing to do is, you can guarantee that Starmer will do the opposite. Then u turn 24 hours later when the shit hits the fan.

I don’t suppose anyone was listening to Times Radio this morning? The theocratic professor from Iran. Bit much.

Oh sorry, I thought you meant he was a regime mouthpiece. More coffee needed :-)
I caught up with Tousi lastnight. His version of events are the complete opposite of what we're seeing on msm in the UK.

Oh no you were right he was a regime mouthpiece. He just ramped up the rhetoric against everyone in the west pretty much to catastrophe levels of vengeance.

Marvellous.
And some want the UK govt to negotiate with these people? Barking mad imo.
