Funny article CruCru! I absolutely do think small children and community workers should be trained up to ambush the journo-dodging Starmer with pertinent questions.

He'll be okay, thanks Eastern. Just slipped into that well worn hellfire of undiagnosed sen (waiting limbo), new secondary, awful anxiety and school refusal. We're getting there.

Yes, agreed, I can't imagine voluntarily dicking around with my teeth and risking tooth pain Emerald. Hope you can get it sorted soon.

You have my sympathy. DS is diagnosed, but we had two+ years of EBSA at primary school. It was awful. He has more support at secondary (1-1 TA, early dart pass, queue jump pass, pass for the room for kids who need to escape the loud classroom) and we've been OK this school year. Some bumps, but it's still better.

I hope you get all you need for your DS soon.

EasternStandard · 13/03/2026 19:02

There was a funny clip of a child crying interrupting Starmer who said I’m not finished. Comments were amusing. Most feel the same hearing him speak.

TheNuthatch · 13/03/2026 19:16

@CruCru Brilliant, thanks for the share. I was chuckling at that when I read it this morning. 😁
Bollard is definitely camping out at Community centres to avoid scrutiny.

I need to stop buying newspapers and get a subscription. It's costing me a small fortune but I love an actual newspaper. The Times was really good today on the Mandelson affair.

Yes I saw that, another community centre 😂

Thanks, The ebsa just kind of snuck up on us last year, and keeps cycling in phases but while he is managing to get in most of the time - it doesn't ever feel like we are very far away from not managing. We are in a weird no-mans land with the school, where some help is freely offered and then oddly feels begrudged. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's good to see that other people have been through this mill and emerged. But I'm also conscious that I am really distracting the thread at this point.

The numbers in that forecast for the May locals are pretty stunning. Labour would be hammered so badly I can’t believe Starmer could survive. Even half of the projected losses would see him off, IMO.

The despair of Labour backbenchers and constituency foot soldiers will turn into fury at Starmer and will be acted on.

RockaLock · 13/03/2026 20:11

Starmer has admitted that it was his decision, his mistake, to appoint Mandelson.

The released government papers showed that the vetting process worked, insofar as it identified all the red flags.

But Starmer decided to ignore all of it, and has admitted as much.

So why he is still anywhere near no10, I cannot understand. Previous PMs have been made to stand down for far lesser offences Confused

I really don’t know why he’s still standing after all the efforts re Johnson.

Whereistheejectbutton · 13/03/2026 20:19

The latest political currency Osborne and Balls both think the slow ongoing info drop on Mandy isn’t the best plan, but also that this hasn’t done Starmer that much damage as it was obvious he had been warned and had gone ahead anyway so the clear evidence of continually bad judgment is priced into labour’s current standing.

@Upstartled ooh ESBA, been there too, you will come out the other side, I know it’s hard to see at times…

But just imagine what MN would've been like if this was Johnson! Honestly, the silence from the lefties is deafening. It's just bizarre.

One rule for one...hypocrites, the lot of them!

EmeraldRoulette · 13/03/2026 20:39

I didn't look at political threads that much in the recent past

But I also feel as if a Tory Prime Minister doing stuff like this would have generated lots of threads here.

Rachel Reeves has written to an overseeing authority for commercial fuel prices, saying that she won't tolerate increasing fuel prices. Make it make sense. Actually, that's more deliberate gaslighting isn't it?

Upstartled · 13/03/2026 20:42

They don't much care that their hypocrisy is so clearly exposed.

They've been in lock-step with Starmer from the start, following him mindlessly and cheering at both ends of each u-turn over the last 18 months.

Yes he should have resigned.
'End the chaos', 'country before party' blah blah. All lies.

Yep 🎯
I remember the Johnson years. Funny there is a Kemi bashing thread, but nothing on Mandelson/Starmer.

They won’t go against Starmer but will deflect with metres on Kemi.

The only saving grace is they’re the most Labour loyal going and the rest of the electorate can’t stand him. Bring on the local elections.

TheNuthatch · 13/03/2026 21:08

Looks like Starmer may be facing a charge of misleading the house over his PMQs responses on due diligence.

I love PC normally, but I've found it disappointing on the Mandelson stuff. Do you get the impression they're treating it with kid gloves? It feels to me as if they're avoiding it slightly.
Obviously Ed's wife is Foreign Sec, and George is friends with Mandy. The photo of Mandelson peeing in the street was outside GO's home. Would be interested to hear your thoughts as I know you listen regularly too.

Whereistheejectbutton · 13/03/2026 21:40

Yes agree @TheNuthatch it is a bit how the rest is politics was less interesting once Labour were in power because Campbell finds it so hard not be an outreach Labour spokesman.

Partly, I get the impression Osborne and Balls both think that Starmer is finished and it’s completely clear he’s not recovering - so it’s a matter of when someone decides to take him and RR on.

oddly, Osborne now has that global open AI focus, he wants everyone to pat Trump on the back for militarily setting Iran back so that the war is wound up for the sake of the global economy, he’s all about the realpolitik.

Whereistheejectbutton · 13/03/2026 21:41

Also, Mandy and Osborne people say fulfil similar fixer roles, so maybe there is additional sympathy there for becoming tainted by association

TheNuthatch · 13/03/2026 22:15

@Whereistheejectbutton

Thanks for that. I wondered if I was being cynical, so glad you've picked up the same vibes. I hope they don't end up like TRIP.
