Yep. We all knew this, the private sector has been hobbled by Labour and the stats took a small amount of time to catch up due to public sector wage rises and investment expansion.

and now we’ve got an oil crisis - and a US president who seems to have no end game.

if anyone didn’t catch William Hague’s commentary on the crossroads in terms of Iranians reducing their country to rubble before they give up the theocratic state - worrying times.

So much for the 'growth strategy' that Labour sold at the election. I'm sure Starmer and Reeves will blame the conflict anyway. It's never their fault.

TheNuthatch · 13/03/2026 08:00

Reeves - "our economic plan is the right one, but I know that there is more to do".

Head-desk.

They don’t get it. It was easy to see pre GE and easy to see now.

Fucking hell. How can she say that with a straight face?!

Just listened to Ian King on Times giving his summary.
Construction down another 2%, hospitality down another 1.8%.

Thanks and that’s not AI it’s Labour policy.

I recall some booger about building more pre GE for growth. Hardly.

Well around here people would rather get benefits than work in hospitality or construction. They might work a bit for cash to top up their income but officially they're unemployed.

There’s a piece by Rod Liddle in the Spectator musing on whether Reform has peaked. It may be right, it may be wrong, but I have long thought that Reform has a shelf-life and it may be running out.

The vulnerability of new parties is that they are quickly abandoned if they don’t win all the time when a government’s very unpopular. People want to hurt a government with seat wins, not vote shares, and they lose interest if someone else takes seats. It’s what happened to the SDP.

If Liddle’s right, we will see Labour polling improving. The Tories had better start showing.

Hannah Spencer's talk to 'year' 9. Incredible that the standard of some MP's is as low as this...

Thanks, I'll have a look for that. Sounds interesting.
I think Reform have come off the boil too. Let's hope the tories take advantage of that, rather than Labour.
I was considering a tactical vote for Reform at the next GE to beat Labour. Not anymore.

I call that reading out loud.

Albertroad · 13/03/2026 10:55

@DenizenOfAisleOfShame I actually voted SDP at the last election. I really rate their leader William Clouston

redange · 13/03/2026 11:18

William Clouston is someone that when the Government changes, could be given an advisory role or perhaps he could head up a political think tank ! The, interesting facts about the SDP Manifesto, it appears to be more 'Conservatively ' on the right than on the left of politics. This, is despite the historical connection to the gang of four and Lib/Lab Politics. However, I think this is due in likelihood to the left learning changing of Overton's window, where simple 'Centrist' Politics can now be perceived to be on the Right of the Spectrum.

redange · 13/03/2026 11:32

I don't agree with Rod Liddle and I also think it is a bit daft to compare political contexts some 50 years apart. That, is like comparing the tactics and Weapons of the Second Boer 1899 with the end of the Second World War and the 'Atom' Bomb and Jets....

EasternStandard · 13/03/2026 11:39

I don’t think Reform is SDP either. But Restore has taken about 7% of the polling.

redange · 13/03/2026 13:10

Restore are sailing very close to outright racism with the proclamations of people like Charlie Downes about 'Etho- Nationalism' and thus in danger of becoming the BNP mark 2. This, is no surprise because Rupert Lowe despite having ability is prone to 'stupidity' and bizarre decision making, note (when Chairman of Southampton FC bringing in a Rugby Coach Sir Clive Woodward as Director of Football over Harry Redknapp hence disaster)

Restore UK and supporters also seem to have an obsession with Lalia Cunnigham and her family, as well as possibly ZIa Yusuf becoming Prime Minister not based on Policies but their ethnicity .

I haven’t looked into them much but I think Reform have lost some voters shifting across which is showing in their polling.

The awful trio Mandelson, AMW and Epstein in first photo on Telegraph.

Also can those who are against digital ID possibly fill out the consultation, I have. Said ditch it no one wants it in pretty much every response.

I saw a photo of Mandy with Epstein yesterday. It looked like Mandy was wearing a belt with a tampon dangling from it. 🤮

Thanks for the heads up on the consultation.
I've just found it online. It says it takes 20-40 mins to complete so will do it after work.

It’s clearly a price tag on the belt.

DancingFerret · 13/03/2026 15:08

An article in the DM today says research by Bombe shows Labour will lose 1700 seats in the May elections. Apparently Bombe called the Greens winning D&G.

ComradeAmoeba · 13/03/2026 15:09

That is very funny Nuthatch. Who told you it was a tampon? That fruit farm place?

Nuthatch's post claiming Mandelson was wearing a tampon dangling from his belt, which was actually a price tag. Mandelson is an utter scumbag, but I seriously doubt he has a tampon fetish.
