I hate saying his name.
The vile creature who killed Holly and Jessica in 2002. Has been seriously assaulted in prison.

This isn't a black or white issue and most issues aren't.

The whole reason that society does not condone it is because it would happen a lot more. it's not for people to take justice into their own hands. But why would you give a monkeys about that arsehole? He murdered two young girls and did untold damage to our society making people fear a paedophile around every corner.

Totally agree with this - they should all be doing some sort of work to earn their keep.

I don’t think anyone feels any empathy for him at all, I certainly don’t. But the online praise for his equally evil attacker was in very bad taste. I feel empathy for the families of the victims he killed, including a pregnant woman.

I for one am certainly not cheering on a rapist and murderer who i seriously doubt gave a flying fuck about those children (edit - not that i would if he did). He wanted to get the inmate tough guy points and bragging rights.

Criminals always tend to be wildly over-optimistic about their chances of being caught. That's why the death penalty doesn't work as a deterrent.

That doesnt make me any less happy.

Thinking only of the families and Holly and Jessica this morning

BBC news have just announced he’s dead.

I hope the families of those affected are being supported.

Their dignity always touched me and I wish them well.

It is a fitting end for him but the reality of the violence within the prison system also chills me to the bone and there is nothing to celebrate. For those saying it will save the prison system money, it will cost an awful lot more, with his hospital treatment, security and investigations into his death, so there's no satisfaction there either.

His mother said that it would be better if he died because of the situation he was in.
I do feel for his mum and can’t imagine how she is feeling today.

Awful i imagine the whole of the UK hate her son but I cant imagine never not loving my child no matter what they did
I would absolutely hate the crime and im sure she did but I love my kids unconditionally she's also in a terrible situation.

I agree his crimes were abhorrent but thr prison service has a duty of care towards all prisoners no matter how Heinous their crimes are, there will have to be investigations in how this happened. To ensure the safety of all prisoners going forward
