I hate saying his name.
The vile creature who killed Holly and Jessica in 2002. Has been seriously assaulted in prison.

*Triple killer Anthony Russell raped a woman who was 5 months pregnant moments before strangling her - He was sentenced to a whole-life prison term in 2022

Anthony Russell, murdered Julie Williams, her son David Williams and Nicole McGregor, whose body was found in woodland near Leamington Spa.

Russell, of Riley Square, Coventry, strangled him with a lanyard, before leaving the body under his bed, where it was found five days later with 87 injuries.

He then strangled Mr Williams' 58-year-old mother in an attack which saw him inflict 113 separate injuries.*

This is who you’re cheering on folks. Personally I don’t think he’s any better than Huntley, and arguably worse given he had more victims. And the fact he received a whole life order.

As a person, do I give a fuck about Huntley? Of course not.

But whether you like it or not it is worrying that there is such violence in prisons. The state has a duty to keep prisoners safe. Even people like Huntley. There are people who work there who have witnessed this event which could cause a lot of trauma. They could have been seriously injured too. Would that be ok? Look what happened to the prison officers last year who were injured by the Manchester terrorists. Would you be so gleeful then?

And the “you’d feel differently if it was your daughters he’d murdered” more than likely. This is why we have an independent justice system and not mob justice handed down by family members. It’s kind of part of being a civilised society.

Re the death penalty - you either believe state sanctioned killing is wrong or you don’t. I think it is. I wouldn’t “make an exception for Huntley” any more than I would for his attacker.

I’ve seen people on facebook saying of the attacker “at least he didn’t kill kids”. Well he killed someone’s kids. Or is there only a margin where people think that counts, starting at what point after birth I wonder and until what age? Strange take.

PolkaDotPorridge · 27/02/2026 08:25

Nobody with even a basic level of intelligence is going to be shocked that it wasn’t a Boy Scout that attacked him. Of course it was going to someone very dangerous and reprehensible. Nobody with any sense would think he should be “freed early” or “given a medal” because he’s a disgusting POS too. It’s not about WHO attacked him, it’s that he deserves anything bad that can come his way.

Extremely well put. It scares the shit out of me how some people think.

Ilovegoldies · 27/02/2026 11:31

I hate to say 'I told you so' but yesterday I said that the person who attacked him didn't give a fuck about women and children and I was right. It's absolutely pathetic the cheering on that happened here yesterday. I don't give a toss about IH and have no sympathy for him.
There is no place for hooping and hollering for a person such as the only who attacked him when frankly he was no better.

Ilovegoldies · 27/02/2026 11:33

Oh and one of his victims was 5 months pregnant so for all the 'he didn't kill kids' He did.

Be different if it was your daughter.

Grow up

His attackers are probably other murderers. Perhaps think about that?

His attacker murdered 3 children....
So, no better than Huntley.....

Pinotpivot · 27/02/2026 13:01

This is partially the issue with the encouraging of vigilante justice, and the celebrating of it.

I saw far more people attacked in prison over things like instant noodles then because they had committed horrendous crimes where there was vigilante element. If you've never set foot in a prison then its hard to imagine how the social element works and how wars are raged over deodorant, a bump into, a funny look or rival gangs. Bullying is massive and often targets are made out of nothing

A great example is Ian Watkins who wasn't killed because of his horrendous crimes but was killed likely because of a debt by two people one of which was a murderer and the other had a conviction of 5 counts of rape with a weapon and kidnap. That same prison had another murder less than a month later by a similar group of people who themselves were in for fairly horrific murders (one of which had already committed a murder of a second prisoner)

Prison violence is a real issue that puts staff at risk and is rarely because of some moral reason

I hope he’s in unbearable pain

I feel for the doctors and nurses who have to work so hard to treat him.

3678194b · 27/02/2026 16:04

Haven't seen any further news on the monster today. Let's hope he suffers.

I wonder if he gets visits? I recall his mother wishing he was dead and his brother wrote a book.

You're not doing yourself any favours.

Indeed. They will treat him without judgment.

They are better people than I am.

Not all of us sadly.

It is possible to be both - to be glad this has happened to him but also realise that it's a good thing that we as a society have neither the death penalty nor support vigilante justice.

I really do not agree. It is not ok to be glad to be ok that an act of vigilante justice occurred, but not support it. It is wrong. So it is wrong no matter who it happens to. The fact we do not like the actions of a person never makes it right.

Agree. There's a real lack of moral consistency on this thread.

Topseyt123 · 27/02/2026 22:12

I don't condone vigilante attacks but I still have absolutely no shred of sympathy for Huntley.

IdentityCris · 28/02/2026 00:42

Fairyliz · 26/02/2026 14:58

Well in my opinion we should bring the death penalty back for them, they wouldn’t be doing it again then.
According to google 12 people were murdered in an eight year period by someone who had previously been imprisoned for murder.
Imagine if that was your child.

How do you suggest we deal with cases where people are convicted of murder who are subsequently proved to be innocent? It's not as if we can bring them back to life after we have hanged them.

IdentityCris · 28/02/2026 00:44

onelumporthree · 26/02/2026 15:09

Someone once said to me that it's a shame that prison officers aren't able to look the other way for 30 seconds or so.

I hope you told them how stupid they were?

IdentityCris · 28/02/2026 00:51

LoveSandbanks · 26/02/2026 16:08

Well fingers crossed then

His estate will still be entitled to compensation if he dies.

Alalo · 26/02/2026 16:16

Good, I also question why he was in a prison workshop when attacked, why are people who have committed horrendous crimes and never getting out (so no rehabilitation issues) in a workshop.

Why on earth shouldn't he work? At least it means he would have been contributing something towards the costs of his imprisonment.

IdentityCris · 28/02/2026 00:59

BoudiccaRuled · 26/02/2026 16:30

I agree with you but just had a thought - do potential paedophile predators stop to think every time they see he's been attacked? He must be living in constant fear, more or less. Would that be a deterrent for some? (I know the death penalty isn't a deterrent, but living in fear is quite different.)

No. Witness the fact that paedophile predators still exist. Also the fact that it's proven in states that have capital punishment that that is no deterrent.

CatsCatsCatsCatsCatsCat · 06/03/2026 13:30

New reports suggest he isn’t going to make it.

I hope the families of the girls can finally now get some closure.

Everyone in Frankland is there for a very good reason. It's true Huntleys assailant is no better than him but hes probably a popular chap with the inmates just now
