Does anyone lend money to small entrepreneurs using lendwithcare?

I've spent some time looking at it this evening and I am quite tempted. It looks like a really good way of helping others for no cost (or at least limited risk). DH thinks its a scam..

Has anyone done it?

A reason was given for mine that defaulted, was a death iirc

HoppityBun · 21/02/2026 12:25

Thanks to this thread, I followed the link, signed up and have lent a bit. Annoyingly, whilst the welcome page said I’d get the £15 extra, that was never added on to my funds.

plentyofsunshine · 21/02/2026 12:30

I've been doing it for years and always choose women because although it must be shit being a poor man in a poor country, it must be even shitter to be a poor woman in a poor country.

I’ve been doing it for years and this threads just reminded me to look. My loans have all been repaid and I’ve just reinvested the credit. It also said that anyone new who invests will get £15 free credit if they click on my link - so it’s below. It’s a fantastic scheme

Thanks for sharing. I have used your code.

Gosh it's hard to choose who to lend too 💗

Thanks so much for starting this thread OP! They had popped up on my Facebook the other day but I was unsure whether to support. Really glad to hear people's positive experiences with them. I've just signed up to give a loan to a young woman who wants to start farming in Ecuador. Here's my referral code link: https://lendwithcare.org/referral/FEWEAJ

Thank you for sharing. This looks like a great enterprise! I’m going to lend £85 plus the referral bonus and involve DD13 in the decision making.

I have hopefully managed to use @EleanorPeck’s referral code to sign up.

If anyone would like to use my referral code it is lendwithcare.org/referral/PMPGEW

I’ve had a couple of hundred pounds invested for the last year or so. Never had a default. I have a strict criteria for lending which works for me.

EleanorPeck · 21/02/2026 13:26

I received an email to say someone had used my link, so thank you @BadgerFace🙂

Philandbill · 21/02/2026 16:02

This is a really lovely thread. I too ask DD to decide who to lend to sometimes.

I think the same. The last Woman I chose to give a small loan to was about my age and looked like she had had such a hard life.

Thanks for this. I've just signed up with this link. Added a little more and now someone has a fully funded loan. Honestly a brilliant idea.

I've like that you know who the money is going to.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 21/02/2026 17:07

I found reading the requests very humbling.

I put my money towards funding someone who was asking for just over £200 - I can see she has now been fully funded which is lovely,

Thank you for this, I've just invested in 3 different small business and my husband has done the same.

dubbie · 21/02/2026 17:35

Yes, I've done this for several years. I always pick women to donate to.

Gazelda · 21/02/2026 19:08

This thread is amazing! I’ve been investing for years, never had a default. One of ‘my’ women had several hundred to go to be fully funded this morning. She’s now fully funded! I suspect there’s quite a few MNers backing her.

Fletchasaurus · 21/02/2026 19:45

Thank you for the reminder! 7th loan completed, had to top up £1.40 due to currency fluctuations but well worth it!

tonsattingforbjudes · 21/02/2026 20:37

Just in case anyone would like a link for the £15 starter bonus here's mine.

I only donated to a cause that was 54% funded this morning and at 3.20pm had a message to say that the project was fully funded. Hopefully lots more people will see this thread and decide to participate.

Thank you @Queenagejust used your code to lend! So glad I came across this thread 😊

RattleAndHump · 21/02/2026 21:10

I’ve been doing it for years, and I’m very happy with it.

Queenage · 21/02/2026 21:14

Care will be wondering where the influx of new lenders has originated from! It’s so lovely to see how many new people are lending from this thread - fantastic way of women supporting women ( and men, but often women!)

Queenage · 21/02/2026 21:19

I get a notification when someone uses my referral code and I’ve just counted up - there’s 41 notifications so 41 new lenders at least, as a result of this thread. How bloody uplifting 😍

AltitudeCheck · 21/02/2026 21:33

Fantastic idea, I'd never heard of this before but have just helped complete a loan for a group of women.

SmallPeachKoala · 21/02/2026 21:43

Anyone else looking for a link, here is mine ☺️

You've reminded me to renew. I've been doing this for quite a few years now, and only topped up a couple of times. It's a great way to help people.
