Does anyone lend money to small entrepreneurs using lendwithcare?

I've spent some time looking at it this evening and I am quite tempted. It looks like a really good way of helping others for no cost (or at least limited risk). DH thinks its a scam..

Has anyone done it?

Thanks.

I love this thread. I used someone’s referral to get started and look forward to reinvesting already!

Someone just used my referral code so it's great to know that new lenders are being recruited each time this thread gets a bump again!

FrothyCothy · 04/10/2026 19:29

People probably know this but just in case - if you used the referral code to get the “free” £15, the repayments don’t go back into your pot. You’ll need to put your own pennies in to reinvest 😊

yup, me :)

Saw the thread ages ago and its been simmering in the back of my mind.

l've also been doing it for years, I never withdraw money I just keep reinvesting it.

tonsattingforbjudes · 04/10/2026 21:28

I just reinvest and add a certain amount each time I do so. It's one of my main charities and I like the fact that you see when the loan has been repaid in full. I always hope that people really benefit from it and are able to improve their quality of life a bit.

A quick hello to the new lenders here and a reminder that we have a Mumsnet team set up that you can attribute your loans to (including your £15 bonus loan) if you’d like to.

Join the team here, it’s called The MN Massive (Salad)

Attached a couple of screenshots with latest (amazing) team figures!

I've just added to the loan fund for a woman with a sewing business. I've been lending for three years and have lent nearly £700 now because I keep ploughing the repayment money back in. No defaults over that time and just a small amount of currency fluctuations loss. It's such a worthwhile charity. I almost always lend to women as I suspect they may find it harder to get funding another way.

I'm helping three women farmers. Repayments are coming in, and I'll soon be helping a few more people. Each loan was the equivalent of a good bottle of wine and far more rewarding.

I was very happy to discover a lady with a sewing and tailoring business in the Philippines to lend to today. My grandmother was a dressmaker so I think she'd have approved too!
Here's a link if anyone new sees this and is interested.
