It's high risk for the party doing it. It also really bad for democracy overall. Less affluent socio-economic groups already vote at much lower rates than higher socio-economic groups. In part that's probably due to not feeling represented. But that's self fulfilling - parties are more likely to court the vote of groups that vote.

I had a similar disagreement with a young person in my family "all the parties care more about supporting pensioners than young people's problems". Well, that's because pensioners bother to vote - you can't blame them for that.

And we return - in a single move - to people choosing not to vote.

persephonia · 27/02/2026 11:13

In the same way that older people apparently rig the system by voting it appears that dastardly Muslims have also gamed the system by
A)voting
B)voting for the policies they care about most

Even worse, other groups of people may have followed suite. 😮

Family voting aside this is clearly a very nefarious strategy and a sign that Britain will soon split along ethno religious lines. The only decent thing to do really is for Hannah Denton to realise she shouldn't have won and let Goodwin by the MP.

Clinton mkII testifying before House Committee today.

Given they ended up asking Hillary about UFOs and Pizza-gate, I anticipate a veritable Repug feeding frenzy.

He can't just say he never knew anything though. The whole thing is strange to me. Cos if there is stuff to charge Bill Clinton on, I would have thought they would have. But the whole US "establishment" has circled the wagons.

And lets face it, of all the names, Bill Clinton is right up there in likelihood when it comes to potential sex crimes.

A wee bit different, but I think this is well worth a quick read for us TDS folk/ s

There are plans to build a Trump Tower in Australia – not everyone is thrilled | CNN

It's what we already knew, in that Trump is not doing the actual building etc.

But what amazes me, is how people with lots of money are supposed to be really smart, and here they are doing things like this.

So these folk are going to build it and run it, and they think PAYING TRUMP MONEY TO USE HIS NAME, is a good idea.

Baffles me.

A vacant block near the center of the Gold Coast’s once glitzy tourist strip is set to become the site of Australia’s tallest tower – and the first with the surname Trump emblazoned across the top.

But is it ? This is a private investment, not Government. So nobody has anything to gain from bribing him. Unless it's a specific individual. And in that case, there is his coin scam to use.

Yes I read the article and maybe I was wrong. The guy could just really genuinely love Trump I guess.
I initially thought maybe slapping Trumps name on something and then paying him a few royalties works out as better value than just buying coins? There's the flattery element. But apparently he wanted to do this sincé 2007 so

There was an Australian guy caught up in some Trump scandal ( normal event ). But that was someone who paid millions to join Merde a Lardo, and who Trump gave a contract to. I just can't remember. My first thought was maybe him.

Re my previous post. I was wrong I think. Anthony Pratt was the Ozz guy at Merde a Lardo. It was nuke sub secrets he got. This dates from the stolen documents in the toilet era.

The Trump Tower company is David Young. Altus Property Group.

Ozz news is pretty much totally blocked were I am so difficult to do me "research".

:-)

Yeah. Nuke secrets.

Are we getting closer to strikes on Iran? Twitter/X is awash with it... (more than usual)

And lets face it, of all the names, Bill Clinton is right up there in likelihood when it comes to potential sex crimes.

Has he been shown to have sexual interest in minors, though? Sure, he had at least one affair outside his marriage, but I think Lewinsky was old enough to be working at the White House rather than being under 16.

(Accusations which didn't result in convictions are not as cogent, to me, as accusations which do result in convictions. I am reminded that Biden was accused of sexual misconduct because he hugged someone he was trying to cheer up when she was in distress, for example.)

I think no. Because of the Pakistan/ Afghanistan thing I mentioned above. Also oil to China. And Russia are pals, and pals with India.

I just hope Kegsbreath does not use AI for answers, because that would likely say to use nukes.

Edit to add. He wants a nuke deal I reckon. Same as the 2015 one he left.

Apparently only 48% of Americans give a shit about Iran. (And I am guessing that in itself itself is taken from a subset of Americans who know where Iran is).

48% is pretty high.

"eight out of 10 owners who expressed a preference said their cat prefers it."

Or my favorite statistic. The Vatican state has more Popes per sq mile than there are Pope(s).

There's a lot of staff being withdrawn from places though... Higher numbers today than the slow trickle of the last few weeks. I think something is afoot, let's see...

I think at this point that the vast majority of the public are more concerned with the cost of food, housing, and medical care, the lack of jobs paying a living wage, immigration both pro and con, and the lunatic who is running the asylum to give much headspace to a country 7000 miles away.

I'm not saying that's right, just giving my thoughts on it.

Spandauer · 27/02/2026 16:22

OK - new thread here for when we need it.

Wonder if he'll clock off for golfing this weekend? Or is he going to be busy pressing red buttons?

Yup. I think theatrics.

Honestly, and this will not be popular, I think Trump should let Rubio loose on Cuba. I don't mean war, but in terms of negotiated regime change, I think Rubio might be the man to do it.

I think if Rubio does that, and it works, it would send a massive message to other regimes. And the people under those regimes.

But Trump want's the glory of course. Nowt has changed in VZ.

But Rubio with Cuba ? I think there is potential with him to use Trumps stupidity for real good.

Flame away folks :-)
