That must have been interesting when there were two different rates of VAT on different goods at the same time.

I didn't say that. As the vendor mansplained, of course it was capable of having different VAT rates.

It just had no concept that a given rate might change over time.

(They were also unable to assign dates to addresses. So customer changes of address had to be entered the day it happened).

Honestly, the admin that this man creates, imagine having to try to sort out his every ridiculous whim, only for it to be cancelled half way through, I bet a lot of the time they don’t even bother starting.

It's hard Brexit in US time. I personally feel your pain.

Did anything with this or was it fake news?

Pretty sure that was fake. Sadly

placemats · 21/02/2026 18:43

Terrifying tarrifs are back up to 15%

No doubt it'll change again sometime soon.

Posters and the media will often complain about u turns but the 🍊 💩 has decided he owns it.

Anyway Ireland won a fantastic match against England in the rugby and I'm a happy bunny.

Have I understood right, the supreme court ruled he can't impose tariffs as it's unconstitutional and he's responded by imposing further tariffs?

So what happens now? Is the only recourse republicans stepping up and impeaching him? Otherwise it means the constitution is now an irrelevance. Tear it up and bin it.

I really don’t wish to sound snide, but I genuinely thought he had torn up the constitution and binned it yonks ago, without anyone apparently having the guts or “ganas” (as my Scottish Grandma who spent time in Spain in the early decades of last century was wont to say) to impeach him for treason. I still can’t understand why, except, as mentioned numerous times now recently, money and billionaires and greed.

Yep, you're probably right. I think this is just a much more visible and blatant 'fuck the constitution' moment. You could kind of pretend you didn't see the rest, if you were so inclined.

The now struck down tariffs were implemented using a 1977 law called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). IIRC, he declared an emergency due to the massive flow of drugs into the US from Canada (eyeroll).

The new justification for tariffs is Section 122 of the U.S. Trade Act.
Section 122 allows temporary tariffs of up to 15 per cent — but these tariffs can only be imposed for 150 days unless Congress approves an extension. Exemptions for CUSMA-compliant goods from Canada and Mexico apply.

Shaking my head and coming back here for a dose of Saturday sanity.

Between Old Testament commandments (which are overruled by JC’s New covenant if you believe in that tripe) and 15%! Where’s tha blood clot? Where’s beady eyed Vance? Anyone care to spare a thought for the people of Cuba being blockaded to death?

dapsnotplimsolls · 21/02/2026 20:24

He desperately needs a distraction. I wouldn't be surprised if he does a 'Venezuela' on Cuba tonight.

logicisall · 21/02/2026 20:31

Did Bayer whisper in his ear?

Justdancevance · 21/02/2026 22:25

He’s now threatening to tarrif anyone who doesn’t agree to give him Greenland

He is such a fucking tool

PerkingFaintly · 21/02/2026 22:38

So hard to see why his businesses crashed and burned so many times... Hmm

Justdancevance · 21/02/2026 23:46

I was in one of his tacky casinos (taj mahal) when I was in the states on a J1. He had cardboard cut outs of the different Ms Universe contestants, absolutely terrible food and when you stepped outside the casino you were surrounded by homeless people and their tents

Now this news is interesting.

A 'hospital' ship was in the Caribbean placating the natives around the time of the Venezuela incident According to people on the ground, it offered mainly diagnostic services and simple treatment. We're not talking heart surgery, mind. It was all a PR/propaganda exercise to soften up governments and people in advance.

Don't watch that, watch this!

TBH, at this stage, I would prefer to take my chances be treated by a Chinese hospital ship!

Louisiana on the other hand. Firmly on the bottom of the US healthcare league. So far down, that they could close all their hospitals and clinics and not drop any places. There being nowhere for them to drop to.

Zonder · 22/02/2026 08:02

Surely if anywhere needs a hospital ship it's America, with all the people who can't afford healthcare.

The powdered pangolin gives one terrible indigestion, so I have heard.

And no, that is not racist or xenophobic. Uncle Xi is a big fan of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
