Tried it once ...... never again!!

Just caught a bit of the Winter Olympics on TV and was reminded of the one and only time I tried skiing. It was one of the worst and most terrifying experiences of my life and I will definitely not, never, ever be doing it again!!

Ditto, my only experience of scuba diving .... still having nightmares years later!!!!!

Both these activities are on my "Tried it once but never again" list. Anyone else got a Never Again experience?

The sticky wall ride thing you used to get at fairgrounds where the floor goes away from you and you are stuck to the wall.

I had to lie on the ground in the middle of a funfair for two hours, vomiting and crying, after it,

Camping

Oh yes. I should have put camping in my first post. I've been once. I hadn't really wanted to go either.

It was absolutely as bad as I had feared and much worse. Never again, ever. If it was the only holiday available to me then I would really rather have no holiday at all.

Oral sex. Fucking hell- makes me gag just thinking about it.

Helicopter ride around Manhattan, absolutely terrifying. For 20 mins in thought I would die. Not scared of normal flying but helicopters and skyscrapers do not mix

Hershey’s chocolate smells like stinky feet

Eye brow threading aside from toothache I’ve never felt pain
like it

Spend new years eve in Paris. Was a nightmare trying to avoid the fireworks being thrown in the street and a long walk back to the hotel as they shut the metro down.

A pole fitness class

Same! I used to be a dancer and I’m pretty good so thought this will be easy.

Yeah it hurt my legs and arms so much.

Windy castle at Peppa pig world. I thought I was going to die while pretending to be brave for my toddler.

Lamb's fry (liver) and Kangaroo in Australia.
Day drink and sight-see with a random who turned out to be scary in Greece.

Ditto to this!!

Go to watch ‘Hamilton’ at the theatre . Couldn’t follow what was happening, they rap all the way through and talk way too fast . And I couldn’t make out which one of the 80 people on stage was actually rapping . Hated it , never again .

It does. With a hint of how a car smells after a child throws up in it and you clean up and spray Febreeze. It's vile.

Whirling waltzers or whatever they're called at the fairground. Like I imagine death in a helicopter crash to be.

I took my son on the waltzers, remembering how much I loved them in my teens 20 years before. It was horrendous. I had to act like I was enjoying it for my son but inside I was screaming for it to stop. When I got off, I staggered to a bench and had to sit down for an hour until the world stopped spinning. I felt sick for the rest of the day. At least death in a helicopter crash would be over quicker.

Imagine you are flat on your back, high on a steep and icy slope with two six foot long planks of wood irrevocably strapped to your feet which are encased in the most uncomfortable footwear ever.
On your hands are bulky, stiff gloves, and you are also clutching four foot long thin poles that you absolutely cannot let go of.

Can you get up? If the answer is no, do not go skiing, ever, you will hate it. I know of which I speak.

😆I mean, yes I could get up. But the whole picture you've painted sounds pretty miserable 😂

Can you elaborate on the scary person in Greece, if not triggering for you

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 10/02/2026 08:58

Oh, I suppose I could say skydiving too as I’ve done it once and never again, but for different reasons - I just found it all a bit meh 😬 the straps dug into my thighs and I had just as good a view from the plane.

Fanny wax.

Utter agony which left me with something that resembled a Hitler moustache on my nether regions, and ingrown hairs.

What’s worse is I had it done locally, so I have to see the woman who vandalised my lady garden from time to time. Mortifying.

Edited

I once volunteered at college as a young lady was struggling to find models

She was lovely but really nervous

She waxed me-underarms,fanny,tash,eyebrows and legs

The pain-omg!I've given birth and that was less painful

Aaannnddd then she forgot to wipe the wax off once she'd tortured me so the fibres of my clothes stuck to me

From neck to toe,I looked like a grey map

At least the kids found it funny

RonaldMcDonaldTrump · 10/02/2026 09:18

Laser hair removal on the moustache area. It was like being stabbed 100 times over. I cried and told her to stop after 20 seconds. I now have a moustache that grows relatively sparsely above one quarter of the lip

Paintballing

Went for 14 yr old relatives bday. It looked a laugh, a bit of messy fun, nothing too scary.

God, it was awful.

A bunch of middle age blokes who took it way too seriously ruined it for the kids, as they all marched in suited, booted and armed to the gills with all their own professional paintballing guns and balls...which you weren't supposed to have, but for some reason they got away with.

The paint balls actually really fucking hurt. A lot! We came out beaten up and bruised to buggery, with one of our gang ending up with a fractured finger from a paintball shot.

The goggles mist up all the friggin' time so you can't see fuck all.

None of the jumpsuits fit any of us - either riding up arses or tripping us up where they were ludicrously too big.

We were late getting out of a round (because of the blokes taking it too seriously) and our pizzas for lunch were cold when we got to them. We were then shouted at by marshalls to hurry up and eat because the next round was starting in 5 mins. We didnt even get time for a piss!

Literally EVERYTHING is an additional cost - paintballs, goggles, gloves, demisting wipes (that don't work) etc. You book and pay, thinking you're getting all this stuff. But no, you have to pay more. And small batches of paintballs hat don't last 2 minutes cost an absolute fortune.

A very expensive couple of hours to be uncomfortable, blind, in pain, dying for a wee, hungry and tolerating a bunch of grown men acting like they were in Nam.

A laugh, it was not
Fun, it was not
Never again

I've never done it but ds2 loves it

The bit of it that I have seen is just a group of fellas taking themselves waaayyy to seriously and acting like they are about to lead everyone into a war

It's cost me a fortune over the years (birthday and Christmas presents)

Another way of looking at it is - being bundled up in warm clothes, swooping down a beautiful mountain on a sunny day with a croque monsieur and hot chocolate at the end of it.

Caving. Signed up in the first week of uni in a moment of madness. Terrifying, cold, wet & dark.

I did this once in a brave attempt to try and rid myself of my life-long claustrophobia....I managed to get to the end of the cave system (it was an underground one with a small river going through it in parts), just about (there were other people with me, it was like an activities week away).

Despite having all the proper gear on....finished it very wet and cold and no less afraid of confined spaces than when I went in! What people can possibly enjoy about caving, I cannot fathom!!

I loved paintball. Went with dh years ago before we married and I was the only girl in a group of about 15 men. I captured the flag in the first game!

Well only if that actually happens to you!
