Tried it once ...... never again!!

Just caught a bit of the Winter Olympics on TV and was reminded of the one and only time I tried skiing. It was one of the worst and most terrifying experiences of my life and I will definitely not, never, ever be doing it again!!

Ditto, my only experience of scuba diving .... still having nightmares years later!!!!!

Both these activities are on my "Tried it once but never again" list. Anyone else got a Never Again experience?

Do you speak from personal experience?!

I perhaps should have said, "I imagine they are difficult to engage in simultaneously".

I have enjoyed abseiling and not partaken of the other

Hiking in high altitude. I am talking above 3200m, the 7th circle of hell!

Oh God! Further confirmation they are the most demonic form of transport!

I bet he wished he’d never invented them! 😬

Driving in a thunderstorm with lightning flashes everywhere. Fortunately I was alone in the car because I screamed a lot.

Ramblingnamechanger · 09/02/2026 16:11

Ha ha , I thought you might be referring to sex with men…

Vinvertebrate · 09/02/2026 16:13

@HUNGRY4MORE Curly Kale can be quite acceptable as “crisps”. You bake it in the oven and then drown in a few tablespoons of Malden. 👍

@katseyes7 similar here, except they were called “The Blobbendales” and each stripper had a BMI in 3 figures. (It was the 90’s!) I didn’t even get a tiny squint of cock because there was too much overhanging flesh, and (even better) my DSis told them it was my birthday - it wasn’t - so I was “chosen” to rub baby oil into the lead stripper’s ample thighs. 😱

What i actually thought this thread would be about 🤣

I’d really like to know why it can make some people relaxed and chilled but others extremely anxious and paranoid. And some psychotic.

I used to smoke it a bit many year’s ago. It made me very chill (and hungry lol). No desire for it now and the much stronger smell it has makes me feel physically ill 🤢 ( it seems to waft from every street corner nowadays).

Krav Maga. I really, really wanted to be good at it but I was the only female in the class and it was geared towards blokes. It did put me off. I'd give it another go though, as I'd like to think things have improved, as this was 2006.

I could've written this!

Also truffles (the kind that grow under trees, not the chocolate ones; I'll try those all day long).

The truffles I tried weren't awful, just bland and not worth the money. I don't why people rave about them.

Laser Quest.
Had to go with a bunch of macho men as my (male-dominated) work organised a 'Christmas' night out.
Didn't understand the rules or what/who I was supposed to be shooting at.
Hated running around in the noisy darkness so mostly hid behind a pillar for an hour.
At the end of the session the instructor read out the scores and said how rubbish was in front of the whole team.
Not fun. No.

Oh I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to hunt down and shoot the work colleagues I didn't like. Including the ones on my team.😂😂

<Not sure what that says about me tbh>

Caving, definitely! I was an additional adult taking a school trip of 14 year olds, so I thought it would be an easy little trot through some caves, but we did something horrific they called an 'envelope' which was crawling on your belly through a very long slot of cave, then a 'chimney' with a twist in it which was very very narrow. I had to bring up the rear, make sure they all through okay, and one had a real panic attack about it (can't blame her) and I thought we'd never get out. I felt proud I'd managed it, but never again...

Was this in South Wales? I did something similar 40+ years ago when I was a kid, except the envelope was called the letterbox and the chimney called the tooth paste tube

They turn my stomach. They smell sort of… bodily.

secretrocker · 09/02/2026 16:18

Edible cannabis.
It was a long time ago now.
I'd smoked some before but eating it was a nightmare.
I've spoken to several other people who had identical horrible experiences by eating it.
The muffins were delicious though.

Figcherry · 09/02/2026 16:19

Agree about eating octopus, a ndn gave it at a bbq , I thought it was going to be grilled chicken.

Hated my one and only trip in a limousine, the most uncomfortable car ride ever.

Aw no 😢 They are very intelligent and since finding that out I won’t eat it.

Yes, I've read and watched too much stuff abut how incredibly smart and characterful they are, and now I can't eat them ever again.

Actually I went in a stretch limo once into London. I was really looking forward to it as it was stocked with booze and snacks. But I got hideously car sick 😫

Redrosesposies · 09/02/2026 16:22

Weed. 1977. Despite being a seasoned drinker by the age of 17😂, I really didn't like the 'out of control' feeling I got from just one pull. Never touched it since despite hanging around with a very dodgy crowd at the time.

AngeloMysterioso · 09/02/2026 16:28

Jellyfish salad at a Chinese restaurant in Bloomsbury that I forgot the name of. Managed to be slimy, chewy and crunchy all at the same time 🤢 even my gastronomically worldly Asian friends couldn’t stomach it!

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 09/02/2026 16:30

Dry suit diving - and I say this is an avid scuba diver.
Dry Suit diving involves the most uncomfortable suit - think having your neck and wrists zip tied to stop water leaks, carrying vast amounts of weight as the suits are so buoyant, and despite all the right and numerous layers I was still fucking freezing!
Dived Silfra in Iceland. I’ve decided that’s definitely a once in a lifetime dive as I will never ever do it again!

AInightingale · 09/02/2026 16:30

Whirling waltzers or whatever they're called at the fairground. Like I imagine death in a helicopter crash to be.

They can be very strong - look like poo and taste like pee.
