For me it’s:

people who think that Michael Jackson isn’t a pedophile.

people who say things like “Londanistan” “Bradfordistan”

People who say “If the Holocaust is real, why do the tattoo numbers only go up to 5 digits”

People who call corner shops the p word shops. Ditto people who use the p word when talking about anyone of Asian descent

What about in supermarket car parks? Surely it is forward planning and a sign of intelligence to drive into the bay 送 that you can access the boot more easily?

People who believe that Farage and Trump are in politics to better society, to make everyone better off.
They are liars, crooks and charlatans.

There is nothing that they have done to make the poor richer - nothing.

Also the way they speak about people who disagree with them is reprehensible.

People who get angry about other people's relationships. Usually women who don't like women taking their husbands name, couples who see themselves as a team, have eachothers backs and enjoy doing things together getting called Co dependent amongst other things. I mean why do they care? It's not their marriage/relationship.

I’m a little disturbed by how strongly people are discouraged from asking questions and disagreeing with the general consensus.

Anti-vaxxers are a prime example. We know there have been people who have had catastrophic consequences from the covid vaccine.
Does that mean that all vaccines are dangerous for everyone? No
Does that mean that people with concerns about vaccines are idiots? Also no.

Intolerant people.

People who ink their bodies with a lover's name after knowing them a month.

With conspiracy theorists I generally think they may have mental health struggles more so than being idiots unless its paired with something else.

Definitely conspiracy theorists. Once someone comes up with any of that crap - I can't take them seriously. People who deny mainstream news but believe some lone nutter on Youtube. Like, what?

I would like to have an EU passport. I think that poster has however demonstrated her lack of imagination, inability to use critical thinking and insularity by her "I'm alright Jack" comment.

Antivaxxers who refused to get the Covid vaccine because "there wasn't enough data"... who then raced out and got onto Ozempic/Wegovy/etc.

I think there are people who enjoy conspiracy theories and woo woo entertainment and then there are those who believe ALL conspiracy theories and woo woo stories.

People who "enjoy" them (and true crime) often display traits of openness, curiosity, flexibility of thought and problem solving tendencies.

People who believe everything about them are as fixed in their thinking and are often motivated by fear and powerlessness. Similar to people who hold extreme ideological views. Being very fixed in any one position whether that be "there is an afterlife" or "there is no afterlife" displays a lack of curiosity and flexibility. Traits that important for emotional and social intelligence.

So I suppose this whole thread is based on the premise that we all agree on word the word idiot means. Is it a lack of schooling (spelling and grammar)? Is a lack of social skills (parking and rule flouting)? Is it a lack of critical thinking (fixed ideologies)? Is someone an idiot if they fit into anyone of these categories but excel in others.

Lefties on Mumsnet that get aggressive when someone has a different opinion.

ANYONE who mistreats animals isn't just an idiot but is the lowest of the lowest of utter morons.

Cyclists who refuse to use helmets, high viz, no lights, bells and so on, who just whizz around corners at speed, at night, not giving a hoot if an innocent person is there,

Using stupid phrases they've picked up somewhere, as though they're being witty and origional, example 'Rachel from accounts'.

I would also say though, does that means those who choose to have the vaccine are brainwashed sheep? No
