What automatically makes you think people are idiots?

1000 replies

FMLGFastMovingLuxuryGoods · 05/02/2026 16:00

For me it’s:

people who think that Michael Jackson isn’t a pedophile.

people who say things like “Londanistan” “Bradfordistan”

People who say “If the Holocaust is real, why do the tattoo numbers only go up to 5 digits”

Anyone who thinks Trump or Farage is the answer to anything.

But overhearing is often a symptom of neuro diversity - do you think that all neurodiverse people are idiots.

The fact people have not simply slotted into a religion but have found a separate path, one which satisfies a need that’s has existed within humanity for 10s of millennia should indicate to you those people are capable of deep thinking. Some of the most intelligent people I know are spiritual not religious

Over sharing on facebook isn’t a symptom.

i think the point is around people announcing stuff publicly ooh I’m so “insert whatever” me, apropos of nothing.

It certainly can be, often people with ND mimick others

dailyconniptions · 12/05/2026 13:43

People who have no idea that your and you're mean utterly different things.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 12/05/2026 15:10

Women who convert to Islam.

Although, in honesty I don’t think they’re stupid, more vulnerable and naive.

Shortly after my friend started dating the man she went on to marry, he sent her a bouquet with the message "YOUR WORTH WAITING FOR". It was a lovely gesture, but I have to admit I would have winced a bit at that.

Likewise people who are proud that they are bad at maths....I'm bad at maths, but I'm certainly not proud of it

I'm bad at maths and I am ashamed of this and have worked hard at trying to improve my skills. Nobody laughs and jokes about struggling with literacy. One of my friends has a 17 year old who is doing A level maths and I am in awe of them. I had a look at their homework and it was incomprehensible to me

idontgetitdoyou · 13/05/2026 00:22

Women who wear massive spiky high heels on the tube. It’s honestly so impractical.

People who are still calling it “ChatGBT” including some of my friends.

People who still use Facebook to get recommendations for baby items and other child related stuff when they would be much better off using mumsnet!

The parents at my child’s private school who have given notice to leave too late and are being charged a term’s fees. It’s all over the terms and conditions. One of them can barely string a sentence together and is ranting on the WhatsApp group about it.

Endoadnowarrior · 13/05/2026 02:48

People who judge others.

SunConure · 13/05/2026 19:48

@Cattenberg I “would of” called off the engagement because it would be “to”
much. I would spend my life correcting “there” grammar and spelling!

Pro-lifers. I was arguing with someone who thinks babies can survive being born at 16 weeks gestation (ergo it's wrong to have abortions at that point). Er, no. That's a miscarriage. No baby is surviving that. Even if by some miracle they're born alive they still wouldn't survive, it's way too early.

Mind you this person thought abortions are wrong regardless. The context being a young woman was raped and beaten so badly she lost an eye, and her parents used emotional and financial abuse in order to force her into having a baby. She spent months in hospital, and they wouldn't allow her to take the morning after pill or have an abortion when it turned out she was pregnant. (This was in the USA so the threat of cutting off her heath insurance was used as leverage.) Then they wouldn't let her give up the baby for adoption and adopted him themselves, and now he's a troubled teenager they want her to look after him!

If I’d been in that conversation with that idiot I would have seriously lost my shit, as I actually lost a baby at 16 weeks and held him in a tiny little basket after I’d had him. I know more than most what a 16 week foetus looks like. She would have got a piece of my mind shall we say.

It should be internationally agreed that we all pronounce it in the French way - "Chat, J'ai peté".

ShowmetheMapletree · 14/05/2026 09:53

Estranged parents who don't ask what they've done, or why.

dailyconniptions · 14/05/2026 09:57

Estranged children who don't self reflect on why

Two sides to every story and it works both ways.

Monarchists
Reform voters
Trump supporters
Climate change deniers
People who don't think Whacko Jacko was a paedophile.

People who say 'spenny' when they mean expensive. Moronic.
People who bang on about 'Free Palestine' and 'Globalise the Infitada'.

Ahh, that's what 'spenny' means! That ghastly ASDA advert makes sense now. Ugh!

You ask your kid what is going on petty cases, but parents that have been abusive then think they're the victims, they are definately toxic idiots.

Lobelia123 · 14/05/2026 10:08

People who breathe through their mouths and people whose eyelids hang at half mast giving that sleepy look (eg Sydney Sweeney or Kylie Jenner). I know its unfair and may be a physical thing and not a mental thing, but I autonatically think theyre dimwits.

So you're critiquing a physical attribute then saying they're idiots? Nice...

Just to make a point about mouth breathing, some of us have respiratory issues and can't help it. It's sometimes the only way I'm able to breathe due to multiple allergies that can't always be controlled and mean I often have a stuffy nose. Nothing to do with intelligence levels.
