What automatically makes you think people are idiots?

For me it’s:

people who think that Michael Jackson isn’t a pedophile.

people who say things like “Londanistan” “Bradfordistan”

People who say “If the Holocaust is real, why do the tattoo numbers only go up to 5 digits”

OP posts:

Neck and face tattoos. People that have their faces injected with filler or Botox.

Anyone that declares "it's not the breed, it's the owner" when an XL bully or pitbull savages someone to death.

It doesn't even make a modicum of sense. Surely you're just inviting the people whom you're patronising to respond with "Ah, yes, so did/do I - we all do... but as well as that, I also went to university/college/whatever and studied to earn a degree/other qualification!"

It's not like people go to university instead of living everyday life; and surely if you happen to be older and have more life experience, how thick is it to be criticising/blaming a young person for being born considerably later than you were, as though it's some kind of character failing?!

Exactly. Anyone alive has attended the 'University of Life' by virtue of having a pulse. It's all just bollocks.

Willowywisp · 06/02/2026 01:05

Parents that pay no regard to car seat safety e.g. putting their kids in seats that don't fit or have poor safety ratings, forward-facing too young, not bothering with car seats or boosters before the child has reached the right height to go without, accepting second-hand seats without checking the expiry and no knowledge of how the seat has been stored or if it has been in a crash.

Willowywisp · 06/02/2026 01:16

People that argue that justifiable criticism of male behaviour is misandry. Anyone jumping in with the "not all men" mantra is an idiot to me.

People who let their cars idle while sitting in it for ages

Especially at school pick up!

SheSaidHummingbird · 06/02/2026 01:26

Misspelling
Catastrophic use of apostrophes, especially when the user isn't even consistent. If you're going to make up your own rules, at least be consistent
Incessant talkers
Office speak
People who abbreviate and acronymise every word
People who chew with their mouth open
People who don't ask questions
Selfishness

Reform voters.

The answer is because only some prisoners at Auschwitz - which was the only camp that routinely tattooed prisoners - were tattooed. At least six million Jewish people were murdered in the Holocaust, but not just in death camps like Auschwitz or in concentration camps.
The wording of ‘if the Holocaust is real’ in those sorts of questions is also so offensive - we have undeniable proof that it happened.

Very poor grammar. I don't mean spelling mistakes, or missing a comma, I mean using text speak or consistently using was instead of were e.g, "we was going to the shops." That, and extreme right-wing views.

People who don’t train their dogs.
Smokers.
People who think HRT gives you cancer.
Anti vaxxers.
People who think that exam success is the only / most important measure of intelligence and predictor of life achievements.

With regards to HRT I've just had to have a hysteroscopy and womb lining biopsy after losing so much blood for a year that the GPs had no idea what to do. Severely anaemic, fainting. Seen in the emergency gynae clinic for TV scan, and MRI. Diagnosed with ademyosis.

Ambulances blue lighted because I was losing to much and needed infusion.

Norethisterone, Norethisterone Provera, Provera, TXA, TXA....

Plenty of professionals seen over that 9 months.

It took ME to research my HRT patch, I assumed it was combination of oestrogen and progesterone... When I found it was purely oestrogen. I looked into that and saw it caused heavy bleeding, clotting blah blah... I asked my GP almost as an afterthought why, when using gel oestrogen, I had progesterone pills too. He said no you need to take Utrogesterone - Hah! I was never told that. I'd switched from both to the patch and told by the stupid fucking pharmacist (the surgery keeps sending you over to them for the simple things) they're you patch is prescribed, I agree it's a bit off with the gel and tablet...

Then they put me onto Conti after I bought it to their attention.

Still bleeding, was instructed to come off everything.

Hysteroscopy showed womb lining had gone from 1.9mm to 3cm thick. Polyps had grown in the 7 months since MRI.
I've had to had a biopsy because unopposed oestrogen will cause cancer.

Now I need to have a polypectomy.

It's ruined my health physically, mentally, hormonally. It's destroyed me.

So HRT might not cause cancer, there are risks of course but it does of course depend on how it is prescribed!

You'll have to excuse my 10, been on pure oestrogen for 9 months. A mix of both for 1 month then told to ditch it all.

Then the hysteroscopy, biopsy and now the polypectomy.

They've ruined me.

In case you hadn't noticed!

Fucking cunts, literally.

Other than that I tend to agree with you.

People who drive a Tesla.

People who start a thread on Mumsnet and don't come back to it.

People who have no idea what real misogyny is, but bandy the term about and accuse other women of it anyway.

People who put bottles sideways on a supermarket conveyor belt so they roll back and forth annoyingly.

The people at my place of work who chose our new accounts software.

That'll do for starters.

People who pack their shopping on the belt!

People who pack their shopping on the belt!

How do you pack your shopping on the belt? Am I being thick 😂

The bottles rolling back and forth made me laugh, I used to pack other bits around them to prevent that.
I cottoned on in my 30s 🙄. I am thick!

People who are on their phones in public, say to the other person "dont tell anyone but...." and then air their dirty landry, usually at a loud volume.

Happened today at work which is how I know that "John" who works at a warehouse was suspended today for harrassment of a female colleague.

That and standing at the end of a 20 strong queue for a Greggs.

In my job I have heard it a lot and I kind of get where it comes from.

Usually men of a certain age for whom FE or a professional career was not an option, despite them being more than capable of it. For one reason or another, they had to go to work to "bring some money in" and then that was them for life, whether they liked it or not.

I always hear it as less of a put down, more as a regret.

Eye opening thread - it seems people generally think others are idiots if they have a different perspective from themselves. I reckon that's who I judge as being an idiot.

Antivaxers are taking a bashing!! Im fully vaccinated and so are my children, but I have to admit I now know a few people who have been severely injured by the Covid vaccine and it has made me think…. (runs for cover!!!)

Not agreeing with the COVID vaccine is different to anti vax
