What automatically makes you think people are idiots?

For me it’s:

people who think that Michael Jackson isn’t a pedophile.

people who say things like “Londanistan” “Bradfordistan”

People who say “If the Holocaust is real, why do the tattoo numbers only go up to 5 digits”

People pleasers. Who stand for nothing. Have no views. Just scurry round serving the narcissists. Like big jellyfish.

People who speak in Estuary English . There seem to be an increasing number presenting programmes now .

Especially those people who adopt Estuary English when it’s not their normal speech, because they evidently think it makes them sound more cool/edgy/ relevant, or at least not POSH.

Dawnintheageofaquariams · 05/02/2026 21:00

That they are people.
Homo Sapiens is a parasite, and time is up.

EchoedSilence · 05/02/2026 21:05

Anyone who thinks only people with an RP accent should be on TV.

People who don’t train their dogs.
Smokers.
People who think HRT gives you cancer.
Anti vaxxers.
People who think that exam success is the only / most important measure of intelligence and predictor of life achievements.

HRT can give you cancer. My mum’s family had a history of breast cancer which her GP overlooked when prescribing HRT. She’s had breast cancer three times and the hormone mix in HRT was a contributing factor.

Really? Speaking as someone who used to regularly win spelling bees, spelling seems like a very trivial skill to me.

Not to mention people with literacy issues which is something close to home for me and I see the daily struggles they face.

2021x · 05/02/2026 21:10

I agree with the Michael Jackson thing. They are doing a grand screening of the film in the biggest theatre in the city I
in. I am very shocked

ToWhitToWhoo · 05/02/2026 21:12

Anti-vaxxers and opponents of all 'modern medicine'; in general.

RavenclawWitchy · 05/02/2026 21:15

Parents who treat school pickup/drop-off as a social event

Not using "their, there and they're" or "were, where and we're" correctly

Anti Vaxxers, Covid deniers

Shouty/preachy vegans & vegetarians

People who say that you can't be more or less autistic than another

hellywelly3 · 05/02/2026 21:16

People who aren’t interested in seeing things from different points of view.
People who don’t understand that not everyone has access to the same opportunities, usually due to finances.

People who write ‘loose’ when they mean ‘lose’
People who say ‘winner winner chicken dinner’

And watch YouTube videos… I have an ex-friend who thinks that every famous / powerful woman is actually a man & vice-versa. She doesn’t figure that there are just masculine-looking women & feminine-looking men. I do wonder how she applies it IRL. Like, would she say to an elderly lady, with short hair, wearing a pair of slacks, no longer full of youthful hormones, on the bus “you are a man!” No, she wouldn’t. Because she never leaves the house. She’s too busy researching…

Do you mean she believes in that 'man born in a woman's body' shit, or that she believes they are men masquerading as women?

Farticus101 · 05/02/2026 21:25

Lots of the above, but surely those who voted for Trump for the SECOND time are a truly special breed of idiot.

Yeah, my mum got breast cancer on HRT too. It wasn't known back then that the risk increases the longer you take it, she was on it over 10 years. She was told by the doc HRT was probably the cause. Hope your mum ok now.

Your mum should've been tested for the gene if it was around then, I'd recommend you getting tested. NHS wouldn't test me, saving money I presume.

If your mum had a history of breast cancer in the family then there was always a greater risk to begin with.

Voting Reform
Not believing in climate change
Still smoking
Anti Vaxers
Using the words “myself” or “yourself “ instead of “me” or “you” all the time

brunettemic · 05/02/2026 21:32

When they are being “pacific” about something…

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/02/2026 21:33

I think people are probably idiots

if they call con trails "chem trails"

if they say that something that is plainly the wrong word used by accident is "dialect" and accuse anyone who says it is the wrong word of being "a pedant".

QueenOfHiraeth · 05/02/2026 21:34

Amazing how many people define stupidity as holding a different opinion to them. That seems fairly stupid in itself!

Some people are dyslexic. That doesn’t make them idiots.

This plus
Anyone who uses the word 'sheeple'

Anyone who uses the word sheeple without irony. Even though they take their medical advice or world view from a random unqualified dude on a podcast.

People who are intolerant and spend their whole time planning what they are going to say in return to a person they don’t agree with, rather than actually listening to what they say and connecting with them. Debate isn’t deaf and blind.

Racists. And anyone who thinks Stephen Yaxley’s got anything intelligent to say. It’s the one thing that will strain my ability to abide by my second point. I’ll still try to hear them out and connect but fuck me, I can’t help but think they must be really ignorant.

namechange46774337 · 05/02/2026 21:37

People who drive down the 2nd/3rd lane of the motorway when not overtaking anyone.
people who tap their brakes every 2 seconds for no reason or every time a car comes towards them on a road
I could go on 🙈
obviously my driving is beyond reproach 😇

Dollymylove · 05/02/2026 21:37

People who throw a tantrum when someone doesnt share their opinion 🤣
