A pro Trump thread to balance the 154 anti Trump threads!

Thought I’d be brave and start a pro-Trump thread for a change, after all, there are so many anti-Trump ones , we need some balance!
I even tried commenting on an anti-Trump thread today… and wow, just kept being told to go away, my comments were not well received. Honestly, I feel honoured to feel as if I have been officially deported, what an achievement!😂

Question. When you say you “hate illegal immigration” what do you mean by that?

there are many forms of immigrants. At some point the vast majority of immigrants will be in some sort of in between- I’ve read a common way is to enter on a visa and overstay, then apply for residency/citizenship on whatever basis. As applying to immigrate from outside the US is all but impossible.

so do you hate the “illegal immigrants” that married a US citizen, and the only path tho staying is to overstay their visa? Do you hate the immigrants who have children born in the US, and need to overstay their visas while applying for residency?

do you hate the asylum seekers coming from war torn countries where their lives are at risk? These are probably more “legal” than the overstayers, although all are going through the correct pathways to apply for their residency.

what about the people trump is taking visa’s away from like journalists? So one minute they’re there legally, then they’re illegal without even knowing.

it’s like this country. People hate “illegal immigrants”. What they mean is they hate asylum seekers. Only they aren’t illegal. They are here legally until their case is heard. No point shouting at hotels, they need to be shouting at the government to speed up the asylum processing times.

i don’t have stats but i imagine truly illegal immigrants are a tiny proportion. Sneaking over a border to commit crime in a foreign country?

Even then the US is going on about deporting criminals- if they are there illegally and have committed a crime, then they should be in the prison system to be tried, then deported if found guilty. Why do they need ice roaming the streets?

People who enter the country illegally. And yes overstaying is wrong. Comply with US Immigration law.

What's happening in this country is another issue. But I like how the trump administration is basically refusing and ignoring asylum claims. It's in their interest and protecting their citizens. We could do the same but we choose not to.

I still absolutely hate and detest the violence of ICE and that US citizens and legal residents are being swept up in this.

I’d be genuinely interested in your reasons you are pro Trump. I promise not to respond negatively.

JasmineTea11 · 29/01/2026 19:58

OK then, tell us all the good things you think he done and what you admire about his administration...

I am afraid it does......Warren Davidson (R-OH) introduced the Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) Research Act of 2025. This bill would direct the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study the psychological and social roots of what is known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, a phenomenon marked by extreme negative reactions to President Donald J.

You can see how this just sounds like dystopian fiction can't you? Its like something out of 1984

I strongly dislike Trump
as an individual. However I can easily see how he got elected over Kamala Harris, best summed up by Jonathan Pie :

Some of the things people come out with. Have you read what you have written. You would seriously prefer Putin. OMG!

Yes, his goals, character and execution are terrible and I'd say that the things you've listed as positives too are highly questionable.

  • Abraham Accords.

Highly debatable that these weren’t just coming from pre-existing trends and the geopolitical trade-offs are questionable at best.

  • Challenging racism in academia and the culture of impunity around it

Are you… talking about racism towards… white people? Just checking as he’s got anybody of any race terrorised on the streets of Minnesota and elsewhere and he’s happily shooting dead the white people that stand against it, while demonising their characters.

  • Reasserting sex-based rights vs trans ideology

Oh, he definitely knows what a biological woman is. He needs to in order to remove our reproductive healthcare rights and to ‘grab us by the pussy.’ Add in his criminal record for sexual assault and, oh, also, Epstein. Yep, he knows what women are and he knows what young girls are too.

  • Credible impression of being unhinged is useful in foreign policy (and done huge damage, but to things Trump doesn’t care about)

I mean… where to start on this one. You’re saying that it’s a positive that he’s unhinged in international relations. Ok then.

  • Mostly given what his voters voted for

Oh yeah, he’s done that.

  • Forcing a necessary re-think in European on their own security.

Yep. Because he’s unhinged and we're scared he's taking down Nato and inciting World War III.

  • Economy and markets going well. Not really down to him, but if the opposite had happened he’d have been blamed, so fair to list.

Which economy and markets? Or just a huge sweeping statement?

We agree he’s awful.

Abraham Accords: some trends, but was truly novel too. Made the normalisation with Israel public, created a cascade effect and unlocked huge trade links as well as stalling West Bank annexation. Just as Major and Blair deserve credit for the Good Friday agreement even though there were trends. Wouldn’t have happened without them.

Racism in academia — whites, yes, but at student level mainly Asians. To rub salt into wounds, Harvard argued at the SC that Asians have sub-par personalities which is why they aren’t admitted at the rates their grades merit. Despite the people grading never having interacted with them. On whites though: yes, illegal and immoral discrimination is wrong even if it’s against a majority, agree? (UK women are fighting this battle now. They are 51%).

Next few points: yes I agree with you. But I didn’t praise any of those things, all of which are bad.

Which economy and markets? The US ones. Global markets also pretty buoyant. There’s a reasonable case this is also Trump related via his rollback of federal AI restrictions. In general I think presidents are over-credited/blamed for markets, but given that they are, this one is in Trump’s favour.

OhIUsedToBeDisgusted · 29/01/2026 20:02

There's no evidence for your second paragraph.

Pallisers · 29/01/2026 19:55

He has done more in his first year than Biden achieved in 4 years. Anybody remember what he achieved after 4 years?

The most comprehensive investment in infrastructure with the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) 2021.

Health care subsidies that made health care affordable for working class americans (now gone - people are dropping their health insurance)

An economy that was the envy of the world. According to The Economist (not known for its left-leaning stance)

What exactly has Trump done? What specific promises has he delivered on? getting rid of vaccines maybe?

I live in the US so I probably have more skin in the game than you do. Although the decimation of american excellence in science and the america's pivot toward Putin and away from western democratic Europe will have downstream impacts that effect everyone.

Yes, the Big Beautiful Bill (honestly, what a fucking ridiculous name that says everything about Trump...) took one trillion away from federal heathcare funding and gave $75 billion to ICE. They're currently trying to push through another $10 billion on top of that for ICE.

Blump2783 · 29/01/2026 20:17

Erm, he has done some things he said he was going to do but they are all stupid and/or evil. He hasn't done other things like improve the cost of living or introduce a replacement to the affordable care act (he said he would do this in his first term and apparently had great ideas, the best ideas...) The majority of Americans are no better off since he got elected.
So tell me, why do you like him?

A thread for TW.......

I can’t get past the way he talks about women. When he said about his daughter… if she wasn’t my daughter I’d sleep with her. He’s a horrible man. A criminal and a disgusting misogynist.

This is the most terrifying thing I've read today. I googled and it seems real. Please someone tell me if I'm wrong, but this means that there is a bill which seeks to patholigise being outraged by Trump's actions. To what purpose? Could it be possible that if successful, people who protested against Trump's actions or spoke out against publicly him could be labelled with a mental health disorder and then what... Treat them somehow? Sedate them? Section them?

Talkinpeace · 29/01/2026 20:46

@Carpediemtoday

Any comment on the Epstein files ?

Clinton is in them. He admits that and wants them released.
Bill Gates is in them - it killed his marriage.
Bezos is in them - it killed his marriage.
Squiggle Andrew is in them - he's not prince any more

what is Trump so scared of
when he is shameless about everything else ?

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 29/01/2026 20:48

I have no opinion on Trump one way or the other because this is Britain and I'm not bothered by the goings on in a country I can't vote in and am not living in.

Sorry, OP, but this thread is totally pointless, and as you've shown in the thread title, Mumsnet is very, very anti-Trump.

I won't ask you or tell you to go away like PPs have because I have manners, though I think you'd have an easier life in not trolling people here.

RingoJuice · 29/01/2026 20:50

Well I will go back to the other thread and cause havoc there then!

OP edited their post to remove the above "threat" to the other thread.
How brave of you to think that you caused havoc there. You were a momentary, and laughable distraction from the horrors of sharing and discussing what the Trump administration is doing to the American people and the world.

We do enjoy a good laugh when posters do their analytical 'research' in the Daily fail.😂
