A pro Trump thread to balance the 154 anti Trump threads!

Thought I’d be brave and start a pro-Trump thread for a change, after all, there are so many anti-Trump ones , we need some balance!
I even tried commenting on an anti-Trump thread today… and wow, just kept being told to go away, my comments were not well received. Honestly, I feel honoured to feel as if I have been officially deported, what an achievement!😂

He’s a climate change denier, you’d have to be thick as mince to not see the increase in weather events and storms linked to our trashing of the planet.

His solution to immigration control is ICE, that’s so hugely out of control it’s appalling.

Robbing the poor to give to the rich is working out well for the middle earners and the poor who probably collectively pay more taxes because they don’t have lawyers and accountants to get them off the hook.

Healthcare using the insurance model doesn’t work unless you’re very healthy or filthy rich.

Trump is a convicted felon.

There may be things he has achieved that might be good for the US, struggling to think what those are.

There are unfortunately, a few determined posters.

If they’re not here already, or even if they are, here’s how it’s going to go:

• They’re going to post some inflammatory stuff about how great he is with much misinformation about easily proved things. Their intention with that is to cause outrage, they know they’re lying.

• We will respond with calm factual responses to that.

• They will respond again with some faux naive question that could look vaguely, vaguely like they’re willing to have an intelligent conversation.

• We will respond to that in best faith, providing sources and facts, although knowing better.

• They will come back and shit all over that reply with some random crap again and the really special ones use lots of capital letters.

• Rinse and repeat.

I believe the term is playing chess with a pigeon. Watch out, because they will report you if you say anything even slightly hurty feelings to them. They don’t tend to get reported by the reasonable people responding because we appreciate the opportunity to show how ridiculous the lies are and counter with easily proved facts.

I came to this thread from the other thread. So far it does not disappoint.

I don't even know what a pro trump would look like, what exactly would anyone be praising him for?

Some of the things people come out with. Have you read what you have written. You would seriously prefer Putin. OMG!

You forgot that he didn’t sic his own federal troops against his own civilians, terrorising them in their own streets while holding them ransom against their state voter data.

In general I think he’s terrible: goals, character, execution. He’s also destroyed one half of a two-party system.

But positives:

• Abraham Accords.
• Challenging racism in academia and the culture of impunity around it
• Reasserting sex-based rights vs trans ideology
• Credible impression of being unhinged is useful in foreign policy (and done huge damage, but to things Trump doesn’t care about)
• Mostly given what his voters voted for
• Forcing a necessary re-think in European on their own security.
• Economy and markets going well. Not really down to him, but if the opposite had happened he’d have been blamed, so fair to list.
• Significantly cut illegal immigration (as Obama did, but not Biden).

Are you going to tell us what you love about trump or not? We're waiting...

It’s OK hon, you don’t have to choose between your favourite dictators though. Have you seen the nice portrait that Trump has just put up in the White House of him and Putin together?

Highly debatable that these weren’t just coming from pre-existing trends and the geopolitical trade-offs are questionable at best.

Are you… talking about racism towards… white people? Just checking as he’s got anybody of any race terrorised on the streets of Minnesota and elsewhere and he’s happily shooting dead the white people that stand against it, while demonising their characters.

Oh, he definitely knows what a biological woman is. He needs to in order to remove our reproductive healthcare rights and to ‘grab us by the pussy.’ Add in his criminal record for sexual assault and, oh, also, Epstein. Yep, he knows what women are and he knows what young girls are too.

I’m deeply anti-Trump, but there’s no chance a similar thread about Xi, Putin, Kim or Khamenei would fill up like this, which is depressing.

Question. When you say you “hate illegal immigration” what do you mean by that?

there are many forms of immigrants. At some point the vast majority of immigrants will be in some sort of in between- I’ve read a common way is to enter on a visa and overstay, then apply for residency/citizenship on whatever basis. As applying to immigrate from outside the US is all but impossible.

so do you hate the “illegal immigrants” that married a US citizen, and the only path tho staying is to overstay their visa? Do you hate the immigrants who have children born in the US, and need to overstay their visas while applying for residency?

do you hate the asylum seekers coming from war torn countries where their lives are at risk? These are probably more “legal” than the overstayers, although all are going through the correct pathways to apply for their residency.

what about the people trump is taking visa’s away from like journalists? So one minute they’re there legally, then they’re illegal without even knowing.

it’s like this country. People hate “illegal immigrants”. What they mean is they hate asylum seekers. Only they aren’t illegal. They are here legally until their case is heard. No point shouting at hotels, they need to be shouting at the government to speed up the asylum processing times.

i don’t have stats but i imagine truly illegal immigrants are a tiny proportion. Sneaking over a border to commit crime in a foreign country?

Even then the US is going on about deporting criminals- if they are there illegally and have committed a crime, then they should be in the prison system to be tried, then deported if found guilty. Why do they need ice roaming the streets?
