A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

If McSweeney was Starmer’s eyes, ears and antennae, then Starmer really is in trouble now - he will simply not be able to see what’s coming, whether it’s the Mandelson fallout, growing voter anger, or a coup.

Starmer leaving office, interrupted.

No more, no less.

Januaryescape · 08/02/2026 15:13

Yes the salary sacrifice thing is madness, a pot
of £250-£300k buying £10k pa is going to net you a
pension that is barely better than if you’d been feckless, and saved nothing and that’s a looming political problem. Scraped that pot together to get the same as if you’d not bothered…

i wonder if sacking Morgan McS is enough to stop the rout on Starmer that is clearly
underway…

CruCru · 08/02/2026 15:16

I suspect that Starmer is never going to resign. He just isn’t that graceful.

Those who think McSweeney’s resignation has cauterised Starmer’s vulnerability, are about to learn a hard lesson…

I wonder if Starmer believes it. I’d love to know the conversations.

Januaryescape · 08/02/2026 15:21

Either way, labour are really losing it aren’t they? Starmer or some kind of rayner/lammy/streeting group - can’t see it turn in around.

redange · 08/02/2026 15:57

How many points do you think Labour will be down in the next Opinion Polls this week ?. If the Polls don't show Labour on average at least two points down I will be very shocked and dismayed about the general public.

Even if does, he’s a hostage to fortune now, namely the Mandelson releases, the 26th Feb, and whatever screw-ups he is able to generate in the interim.

I just spotted this on X, redange. I must admit I was surprised.

Westminster Voting Intention:

RFM: 31% (=)
LAB: 23% (+1)
CON: 16% (-1)
GRN: 13% (+2)
LDM: 10% (-3)

Hell's teeth... Has AMW's uncontrollable lust threatened national security?

CaveMum · 08/02/2026 16:55

@DancingFerret i was listening to one of my many podcasts at the weekend (can’t remember which) and they said even if Epstein wasn’t a Russian asset, his activities would no doubt have drawn their attention and he’d have been ripe for hacking of emails/voicemails.

Yep I was thinking while on a run McSweeney’s statement is tomorrow’s chip paper and the Mandelson / Epstein files are just warming up.

Thousands of documents, anything to keep the press going with headlines and Starmer has played his McSweeney shaped Uno wild card. He doesn’t have any one else to blame.

His strongest team members have done the I warned Starmer to distance and getting things together.

Let’s see. I hope he feels the exposure and isolation.

Absolutely.

The knives are out - it’s merely a function of time, which in itself is a function of the next bout of negative headlines or the next screw up.

McSweeney must have run interference for Starmer, and with him gone, our clueless PM is swinging in the wind.

What the Starmer faithful forget, is that whilst this never-ending psychodrama continues, people are suffering. Shame on them, all.

Reset no. 87 - does any of it even matter?

Sir Keir Starmer will give an address to the nation as soon as tomorrow as he hopes to begin to move on from the worst week of his premiership.

A senior Downing Street source said: “The Prime Minister recognises the need for government to address the issues highlighted by the Mandelson revelations.

“Work began last week on this. The Prime Minister has instructed officials to move at pace to deliver change. He hopes to update the country as early as tomorrow.”

This Labour Government has already fulfilled its promise to deliver change - none of it for the better.

He really needs to stop talking and making statements. There’s no accountability and it’s just angering everyone.

DancingFerret · 08/02/2026 19:35

The DM is headlining Rayner getting a new hairstyle to be "camera ready" for her leadership bit. Lord help us.

She may as well run her leadership bid with the slogan ‘sponsored by HMRC’.

Possibly second only to Fergie in the brass neck stakes.

Oh fantastic. Rayner cuts Starmer down and then fucks up what little’s left of Labour’s credibility.

👍

Oh to be a fly on the wall when Big Ang takes her place among the world leaders. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so serious.

DiySteve · 08/02/2026 21:35

Once Starmer goes - perhaps as soon as next week, let attention turn to Reeves.

Another one not fit for office.

TwoTierBbq · 08/02/2026 22:12

Just remember folks whose in charge ! The grown ups !!

And how lightly they will tread on our lives with that great big jack boot !

Calls going out now re the markets tomorrow !

TwoTierBbq · 08/02/2026 22:14

@yesterdaytoday Ange left the party in disgrace .

If they put her in charge what does that say ?

If Boris made us a laughing stock what does this make us ?

TwoTierBbq · 08/02/2026 22:15

@DenizenOfAisleOfShame I hope they call a snap election and we can get them out.

All very well saying she will trash what's left but we have years and years to endure and she wanted to trash the countryside.
