When asked during his last campaign (when he bragged about 'big, beautiful healthcare') just what he had planned, he said he had a 'framework of a plan' but refused to elaborate 'because I haven't been elected yet'.

All sound and fury signifying his ineptitude nothing.

At least once a day so far Trump does something so farfetched and utterly insane that I’m reminded there are parallel universes somewhere where that bullet didn’t miss and where Harris won the election. I thought about that a lot during that speech.

In fairness to Biden he did actually have a speech impediment. I’m yet to be convinced that he wasn’t cognitively able to understand geopolitics at the end of his presidency. The gulf between the two is huge.

Although the US really do need an age limit if they are going to keep doing this.

I have a question (maybe several)

Trump has said that they are going to have a deal over Greenland so no need for tariffs.

Greenland has said not for sale.
Denmark has said not for sale.
Trump has said Denmark should give Greenland to America to show their gratitude they aren't grateful enough that America saved the entire world in 1944 and kept it safe (from whom, no-one wanted it then for minerals) but that they would buy it if needed.

What the hell change? Why? Who caved because those two positions are not things you can negotiate? Someone is lying. Who? What caused it?

No-one is answering these questions. We are not children to be patted on the head and sent away to forget this while the adults fix it behind closed doors. What has been agreed that we are not being told?

I do not know how these people can live with themselves. I really don't. I can't figure out which is worse - trying ourselves in knots trying to understand that, or stopping trying to understand that.

Tariff and miltary action re Greenland off the table for now.
But still interested in acquiring Greenland (even though he might have to use 'excessive strength and force')

If it's any consolation, I don't think anyone has any clue.

It's making me think of the time when I was 38 weeks pregnant and took my then 3 year old to the zoo without a pushchair. He decided towards the end that he was no way walking home. I bought a pack of m&m's - he'd never had chocolate before - and lured him home with an m&m for every 20 steps he took. Between the counting and the m&m's he forgot he was refusing and we all got home. I suspect Rutte is brandishing a bag of m&m's, hoping to get the guy home.

I don't think it's so much lying (on the part of NATO) as it is Scrotus making bombastic threats about buying, invading, or tippy-toeing in the window in the middle of the night and changing Greenlands' locks so they can't get back in.

When his threats don't get him what he wants he finds a way to say he DID get what he wanted therefore he isn't going to do what he threatened. When in actuality the 'entity' he was threatening either said "Fuck off, Donnie" or made him a tiny offer he can jump on so he can claim "I'm the best wheeler dealer in the world! They are so afraid of powerful me that they caved! This is what I wanted all the time. YAY ME!!!".

No idea what he was offered. But I think @HeddaGarbled is on the right track. And if it is a NATO presence, he's too stupid to realize that it's probably going to be mostly non-US troops sent there to protect Greenland against the US.
