Going NC with your parents is a fad, it’s like declaring yourself as trans five years ago. It’s a way of getting attention and making yourself feel a bit special. They’ll all grow out of it.

Keep telling yourself that; it won't make your kids want to speak to you again.

Tableforjoan · 20/01/2026 16:56

Question is did he want to and push for it or did big brand do it.

I doubt we will ever know but most people
wouldn’t want those pictures published to be laughed at.

Or somehow did someone convince him they were very good rather than a friendly but harsh truthful criticism of his photos.

The photo book is mind boggling but then again brand is pushing Cruz toad licking music so 🤷🏻‍♀️

He was only 18 and a very timid boy from what people who knew him then told me. I doubt very much he was pushing for it

Rollonsummer1 · 20/01/2026 17:00

@Gloriia on one of the threads someone posted what being Infront of camera is like ,it was awful.

03cg73 · 20/01/2026 17:01

I do think the part about the dress is false. His wife did a whole article in vogue with her dress designer (think he works for Valentino, but don’t quote me on that) about how her dress was a year in the making and involved several trips to Paris for fittings and multiple fittings in the USA. I’d take the stuff in his statement with a pinch of salt

It's very sad as I'm sure the Beckham family actually all love each other very much. The Daily Mail story this morning which said Brooklyn wanted to speak to David alone on his birthday but then changed his mind when David said it had to be just him and not his wife sprang out to me. Who wouldn't say to her husband in that situation: yes, talk to him and sort things out between you? Why was it an issue that she should be there? He seems like a weak man being battled over like a bit of roadkill.

Absolutely this. Anyone in that situation would let their husband speak with his parents without interference.

Januaryescape · 20/01/2026 17:04

It all strikes me as sad and though, just like with H&M it ought to be resolvable. isnt all social media performative? That’s why it’s 99 percent nonsense..

Therefore they don’t value education!

The boys had expensive educations - up to a point.

Which, incidentally, is why I was a bit surprised by parts of the statement.

The world is going to absolute shit and 4 out of the 7 posts in the trending panel at the time I'm writing this are about Brooklyn Beckham. Personally I think it's time people stopped obsessing over celebrities and got worked up about things that actually matter.

Twas always thus. The creation of false idols has been part of life since it began.

Look at Hollywood in the 30's and 40's, it was the same then. People idolize celebrity but also want those celebrities torn down. It seems it's part of being human.

In The Guardian today it's both the most read story and the story most read through to the end.

I think, sad as it is, it is more palatable than much of the news atm.

I've said it before & will again - they are bright enough to manage the brand & to make a staggering amount of money. So not stupid. May not be academically intelligent & arguably not emotionally intelligent but definitely have a skill set & are mighty savvy

Edited

Their brand was developed by Simon Fuller, he was the brainchild of brand Beckham. I think he is even worth more than the Beckhams as a result. I don’t know if they would have made it without his influence.

They moved schools a lot and were taken out a lot though.

an expensive education still needs time and investment to do well

Am I the only one who has never heard of a "celeb" called Marc Anthony and every time I read about Marc Anthony standing on the stage I have a vision of a bloke saying "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him"?

😄😄

I agree - but it's a shame he used the famous family name to get his book of terrible photos published. He'd never have managed it without the Beckham branding.

I’m sure David & Victoria had contacts and got the book published for him. They probably wanted it more than him.

'For me I think that Brooklyn has had to live out his formative years in the glare of publicity'

I don't think it was that bad he was hardly sent down the mines at 10yrs old. What 'glare of publicity'? A few pap shots at events and the odd Hello spread? I don't think it was that horrific tbh. The luxury and privilege surely was a teensy bit of consolation?

Are you a relative? You’ve gone from “who cares” first thing this morning to still being here being toxic about a 23 year old.

Publishers need to make money, they presumably thought it would sell to some extent. They don’t publish books as favours to people.

The D&V Brand certainly provided him the opportunity of a place at a prestigious university in New York.

I feel sorry that the photography didn’t work out for him. He probably felt fairly battered, bruised and a bit lost after that.

I'll bet they do it they think they'll get the parents' autobiographIes or ghost written written detective/love stories in time.

I remember a quote from VB years ago when they were questioned about how they earn so much and she said something like 'because we are up out of our beds working at silly hours when everyone else is asleep' - something along those lines.

So are shift workers who are on an early, strange how they are not as rich as the Beckhams. Loads of people work long hours and have very early starts, she sounds pretty clueless saying this
