I’m guessing the beckhams do not get on with Nicola

You think?

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 20/01/2026 11:11

I can’t recall photos of baby Brooklyn.

I remember there were loads of paparazzi photos of the back of his head whilst he was being carried somewhere from when he was first born but IIRC the first time his face was shown was in his parents wedding photos, which they sold to OK or Hello magazine. So in effect they sold Brooklyn too and not for the first time.

VanessaSanessa · 20/01/2026 11:14

His wording about the dance is very weird. It will surely upset the life out of his mother.

However, you reap what you sow I'm afraid.

I wonder what they will do. They have to protect the brand..

Brand Beckham only came into being after Princess Diana died. Whilst there was interest in them at that time, interest soared after Diana’s death. It left a void in the tabloids. Any one old enough will recall that everyday the Mail and the Daily Express had a Diana story on the front page before her death. For a year or so after her death the Express had Diana on their front pages, to much derision, their desperation to cling on was legendary. Diana shifted product.

So the media needed to fill that void. The Beckhams, in my view remarkably ordinary, and probably buoyed up by their own pr strategists, filled that void.

I have never understood the public’s fascination with this family. They and their kids are still unremarkable, they are not pseudo aristocracy, which is what they want us to think.

Everything is designed to shore up that brand. Brooklyn has bucked the trend. They will be apoplectic. They have lost their grip.

Anyone else remember when VB got pissed and wet herself - she was seen clearly pie-eyed leaving an event, grimly held up by a furious DB, and they said she spilt her drink. Nobody bought it. They can’t always control the narrative. Brooklyn is on this occasion.

Ive never understood the fascination with them. He was a very good footballer, yes, and she was an attractive but mediocre singer in a global girl band. Beyond the initial “oh so they got together” I never understood what was so appealing about them. He’s no longer a footballer and she’s no longer in a band.

As a side note, it should be illegal to put children on social media or in the press.

no way! really? I have no memory of VB being pie-eyed

ThejoyofNC · 20/01/2026 07:00

Oh please. I have absolutely no sympathy for them.

What a shame she couldn't get the designer wedding dress she wanted. How heartbreaking to have to have another multi million dollar wedding. Boo bloody hoo.

Every woman on here has in law problems (without the massive fortune) and there's no pity party for them.

I don’t.

I don't remember that either 🤔

Whosthetabbynow · 20/01/2026 11:19

Always thought dear little Brooklyn was a bit of a hapless, directionless drip, but I 100 per cent believe what he’s said in his statement. His vain mother couldn’t bear the thought of being usurped by the younger, thinner, richer girlfriend so she went nuclear. Good on him for exposing the fakery

Theunamedcat · 20/01/2026 11:19

Honestly ive heard nothing about this "drama" for months this seems to have come out of nowhere almost like a Facebook hospital check in

This one. She is pretty obviously drunk and David looks utterly fuming.

simpsonthecat · 20/01/2026 11:19

The one I thing I think is really bad, if it is true... if the couple were over for David's 50th. They didn't want to go to the star studded paparrazi massive party but wanted to meet seperately. They were there a week and D&V refused.

If my relationship with my DS was on rocky ground, I would walk over hot coals to meet him wherever whenever. Not just demand he goes to the party because that is just for PR and pics for Brand Beckham
If this bit is true, it's awful.

nicepotoftea · 20/01/2026 11:20

Why couldn't they have hashed this out on AIBU like normal people?

😁

Bruisername · 20/01/2026 11:20

You haven’t seen the constant drip drip drip in the tabloids about how awful his wife is? I can see why he snapped tbh

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 20/01/2026 11:21

minnel · 20/01/2026 10:43

We are probably talking about very different situations. The world is a difficult and often lonely place for a young person (or an older one) without family support.

It is lonely. It's also much better than the alternative.

Whosthetabbynow · 20/01/2026 11:22

Not surprised the wine went to VB’s head. She hasn’t eaten anything for 30 years

Poshsmith · 20/01/2026 11:22

Narcissistic family like a cult, if you try to leave they will isolate you and get others to attack. They don’t put the wellbeing of their children first, rather the brand and image for financial gain. They’d rather destroy their son’s happiness and independence than see him divert from the narrative. This not what good parents do for their kids.

Justdancevance · 20/01/2026 11:23

He wanted a private relationship with them and they refused that, his only useful to them as an active member of Brand Beckham.

CrikeyNumpty · 20/01/2026 11:24

VB’s unfortunate incident was explained away as a spilt drink. She was wearing black jeans and the flashbulbs showed it up. The “spilt drink” went down the crotch at the front, and also right up the back.

Victoria Beckham really looks like she wet herself at her LFW party

Spilt champagne?

simpsonthecat · 20/01/2026 11:26

Can anyone precis what has been said in the media about his wife? I haven't seen anything but don't follow them particularly.
Is it a drip drip of negativity coming from the Beckhams?

nicepotoftea · 20/01/2026 11:28

Emilyinspace · 20/01/2026 09:42

Can anyone think of another family who have monetised being a family for so long?

Royal Family don’t count, they are heads of state so as dysfunctional as they are, it’s different.

I honestly can’t and I am wracking my brain. Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey to an extent but not at the same level.

The Beckhams could have done all the photo shoots , events etc as a couple and without their children. They don’t have to pose with them. They have may have done so unthinking or strategically, who knows, but it’s an awful way to bring up children.

The only thing I didn’t like was the comment about his mother dancing ‘on me’.

That kind of makes it sound like Victoria was either pissed or inappropriate and it’s cruel to put either of those things out there.

I think part of the problem is that the Beckhams have been doing it for so long, and brand Beckham was a thing before social media really took hold.

I think it's now much more frowned upon to share pictures of your children with strangers on the internet, and celebrities are more cautious and more likely to protect their children's privacy.

Mangelwurzelfortea · 20/01/2026 11:28

I feel for Brooklyn. It's really hard to realise your parents are total dicks and have been using you, the person they're supposed to love the best. Coming from a similarly dysfunctional family, if I went 'nuclear' nobody outside the family would care, but I haven't because it would end up being more trouble than it's worth. He's defended his wife - good for him. I hope he and his wife manage the low-key life they seem to want.

I didn't realise it was such public knowledge than DB had loads of affairs. I can remember Rebecca Loos but that's about it - has there been anyone else anyone can hint at? I'm not surprised though because having watched the recent documentaries about him and Victoria, he seems to pretty much dislike her.

omg bbc refers to vb as Lady Beckham ! Shock

It is her name. Same as she was Mrs. Beckham before.

ThatCyanCat · 20/01/2026 11:30

I have a stupid question but I don't follow this closely and I'm not on Insta or TikTok so I have to ask... what exactly was Brand Beckham? Did they actually sell Beckham-themed merchandise? Or is it more a case of promoting Victoria's clothing line and whatever David does these days with a curated public image of a big and well presented, perfect family?

I would imagine it wasn’t a casual coffee catchup though, and odd he would only agree without Nicole there.
