Thank you for that link to the NY Times piece, @walllaw :
$1 Billion in Cash Buys a Permanent Seat on Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’
The board was originally conceived to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza, but its charter does not mention the Palestinian enclave, suggesting a possibly broader mandate.

And while the board was conceived as part of Mr. Trump’s plan to oversee Gaza, there is no mention of Gaza in the charter. That omission added to speculation that the group may have a broader mandate to cover other conflicts and could even be aimed at creating a U.S.-dominated alternative to the United Nations Security Council.

Now that's exactly what I'd expect the Trump administration to be doing.
The "Board of Peace" is of course a transnational organisation, which the 2025 National Security Strategy repeatedly fulminated against. Except of course for the telling last phrase in this paragraph from the Strategy. Hindering the sovereign rights of nations is AOK as long as it furthers American interests.
We stand for the sovereign rights of nations, against the sovereignty-sapping incursions of the most intrusive transnational organizations, and for reforming those institutions so that they assist rather than hinder individual sovereignty and further American interests.
