Not too far off the mark. Sen Strom Thurmond was wheeled into the chamber to 'vote' even though he was 'non compos mentis' in his last years in the Senate. And it's now well known that Reagan was suffering effects to his memory from Alzheimer's during his second term and that 'staff' was actually running the show.

So the GOP has real precedent for 'puppetry'.

Like I said on another thread. Musk and the other tech bros have spent vast sums (mostly not their own money) on AI systems on the promise/expectation getting in on the ground floor would lead to massive returns. So far open AI, Grok etc are losing money every time someone uses them though. And the only way they can make profit back is the two reliables- porn and government spending on defense/intelligence. And so this was sort of inevitable...

Its why we need legislation on AI being used to create nonconsensual porn. The incentives to make money that way are too strong otherwise. Likewise there should be rules on how much governments can use it to spy on their populations. But that will be a much harder guarantee to get because obviously governments will be motivated in the opposite direction and they're the ones making the laws.
But you can't depend on tech bros doing the right thing of their own accord when doing the wrong thing is the only way to stay competitive. Even in some parallel reality where they weren't all sociopaths.

Under ordinary circumstances I would feel bad for laughing at those clips, but at this moment? Bring em on.
