Anyone preparing for a lot of snow tomorrow?

We're in Leicestershire and it looks like we're due quite a bit.

I’m in Cornwall .
Scary telephone warning was warranted
My favourite 3 boundary trees have come down so we are now blocked in until they can be moved.
Praying our power stays on….

userfornow · 08/01/2026 21:34

Yorkshire here. It's been snowing since around 7pm. Not super heavy but enough to cover the ground atm. But weather app is showing rain from 4am so we will see...

Stressedoutmummyof3 · 08/01/2026 21:53

We're on Amber alert and snow is forecast but I don't think it'll settle as we had so much rain today. We're in the South West and it's possible we'll miss it totally.
If it happens it happens we have food and medicine in. Going to be a nightmare if we loose power although all 3 of our kids have weighted blankets on top of duvets so hopefully won't freeze if the worst happens.

Red warning here in Cornwall, a lot of people are without power until at least tomorrow morning. I don't think I've ever seen winds like it, and I'm quite old and have lived in Cornwall ( which is pretty windy) for over 40 years

I'm in Penzance, lived in Falmouth till a few months ago, so first storm here.
I don't remember winds like it, and I lost part of my roof in Storm Eunice in '22.

PigletJohn · 08/01/2026 21:54

I'm on the South Coast and it looks like missing me. Our forecast is 25mph winds gusting to 40.

I’m in Leicester and DD is certainly hoping for lots of snow, enough to make going to school impossible, given we live a 10 min walk from school that will only be possible if they actually close it 😂 I’m not preparing in any way though. If it happens it happens, we have food and will just bunker down for the day.

Argh. We got the first wave of snow in Norfolk and I’m glad to see the back of it. Kids got an extra week off due to flooding and a broken boiler at school. I need them to go back now!

Reduxrabbit · 08/01/2026 22:00

Super gusty here in west Cornwall but I think starting to ease. Not looking forward to what I’ll find outside once it is light. Cats unnerved to say the least.

CeeJay81 · 08/01/2026 22:01

Only sleet so far here. Think we're too close the coast. We did have it on Monday/Tuesday though.

We have this nonsense multiple times a year. A storm comes and goes. It’s never devastating. It’s England ffs not a hurricane prone exotic island.

Pretty rude and disrespectful to those losing power, property and livelihoods as a result of storms.

RanchRat · 08/01/2026 22:08

South West Sheffield here. Snowing lightly, about an inch has settled. I have my phone charged and my boots handy. Going to bed now cos I'm old. Good luck folks.

Tryonemoretime · 08/01/2026 22:09

A bit blowy and raining here in South Glos. We hardly ever get snow where we are, but I'd love to wake up to a white out!

Uhghg · 08/01/2026 22:09

I’m in Cornwall and have been without power since about 5pm.

The wind sounds like it’s dying down a bit now thank goodness else I wouldn’t have been able to sleep.

Port1aCastis · 08/01/2026 22:12

I cannot believe some people on this thread, it is not just a bit of snow, we had a government text warning we've got winds of up to 100 mph I've been out helping people and then come home to my car being damaged , my garage roof has gone and I have a terrified dog.
Just a bit of snow my arse!

X123x321X · 08/01/2026 22:12

I'm out of the red zone (not in UK) but it could still turn a bit nasty.

It's calmed down a bit here on the Lizard, I hope you sleep well my lovely

A red weather warning means danger to life.

We may not have hundreds or thousands of people killed like some tropical countries but even 1 person dying is devastating to their loved ones.

Clearly you never been in any affected areas or you wouldn’t say such nonsense

IsabellaGoodthing · 08/01/2026 22:17

Nothing untoward in South Cumbria. Unusual for us.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 08/01/2026 22:19

Very wet and windy on the Isle of Wight. Nothing mega though.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 08/01/2026 22:28

I’m in Northern Ireland so I think we’re expected to miss it. All quiet here.

elb1504 · 08/01/2026 22:30

Few inches of snow here in East Staffordshire, still coming down heavy. It rained a lot so I was convinced we wouldn't get any but as soon as it changed from rain to snow it started to stick.

KenAdams · 08/01/2026 22:30

Settled here but the snow has eased off although I think the worst is yet to come.

Traffic problems already in the area although I don't know why people are trying to drive.

The powerlines exploding in Cornwall look so scary. Stay safe SW MNers!

My youngest ds (22) lives in Penryn and lost power around 6pm. Sounds like a cable came down. Haven't heard from him since but hoping he's okay.

3678194b · 08/01/2026 22:39

Hope everyone is okay. The country is having the weather I dread the most, but together - snow ice AND damaging gales, which is arguably worst as every time there is a storm you always hear of fatalities.

They keep tweeking the forecast, now it's sleeting and sticking but meant to be raining later. I did almost slip on the ice a few times a few days ago and it certainly wasn't the worse compared to a lot of places, no schools have been closed anyway.

We really have had it all since Christmas. Hope all get through it workout too many issues.
