Anyone preparing for a lot of snow tomorrow?

We're in Leicestershire and it looks like we're due quite a bit.

Update from Northants….snowingnow !!!

You must be in the orange bit of Northants, still raining in my bit

Isekaied · 08/01/2026 20:52

Lancashire.

A bit of rain.
Not even sleet.

Nothing much yet.

FettleOfKish · 08/01/2026 20:53

In Jersey here and under a red warning / stay at home order. Our flat was badly damaged in storm ciaran in 2023 so tonight DS and I have battened down in a newly built hotel in town, on lower ground and sheltered by buildings (rather than our high ground, exposed to the coast home). DH has stayed at home with the cat and to be able to react to any damage.

The wind is just starting to really pick up now. DS thankfully fast asleep with white noise on, I might hop into the bath with a wine in the hopes it’ll aid my being able to sleep.

Red warning here in Cornwall, a lot of people are without power until at least tomorrow morning. I don't think I've ever seen winds like it, and I'm quite old and have lived in Cornwall ( which is pretty windy) for over 40 years

We moved here in the early 80s & this is up there with the worst storms

Wellingborough…..DH just informed me it’s slushy rain now x

SleeplessInWherever · 08/01/2026 20:56

East Cheshire.

The weather app says it’s snowing, but as far as I can see that’s absolute nonsense and it’s raining.

We got wellies etc back out (from a few days ago!) ready for a snow day tomorrow, but I think my son is going to be disappointed when he ends up at school instead!

NutButterOnToast · 08/01/2026 20:57

Hope everyone under a red warning stays safe.

Just a bit blowy here in Devon.

I must have missed it, Rushden here <waves>

DontMowMyMeadow · 08/01/2026 20:59

Been wild here in Cornwall. Something hit the house earlier.
DS a few miles away lost a window and was worried about the roof on his shitty rental home (badly converted agri building).
One of the worst winds we've ever experienced, but thankfully backing off a bit now.
It definitely warranted the Red rating and the warnings to stay inside.

We have this nonsense multiple times a year. A storm comes and goes. It’s never devastating. It’s England ffs not a hurricane prone exotic island.

We had to move out of our home for a full year while it was almost rebuilt, so badly damaged was it during and after Storm Ciaran. That was quite devastating, but not as devastating as for those nearby whose roofs were literally ripped straight off from above them by the tornado that tore through the area.

The only comparable one I can think of is in about 85/86? Trees down everywhere, we lived v rurally and we're without power for a whole week! I was a preteen then and devastated about missing Dynasty!

blackheartsgirl · 08/01/2026 21:00

North East Wales near Wrexham and it’s coming down thick and fast, Still have a few inches on the ground in places from the last lot of snow. We’re quite high up, the village further up from us is already getting a battering.

my dds high school is making the decision in the morning but there’s no chance it will be open, I’ll be very surprised

Hope everyone down in Kernow stays safe. I’ve a fear of strong winds, horrible memories of the 1987 one when I was 10, I’ll never forget being in the middle of that.

I think it was likely the great storm of 87

enjoyinglifenowretired · 08/01/2026 21:02

Very wet in South Wales. Would love some snow but not forecast for us.

cheeseomelette · 08/01/2026 21:03

In a red zone here. Our neighbours fence narrowly missed ds’ car when it went flying.

It’s been absolutely roaring for the past couple of hours but seems to be subsiding a little now.

Sameshitedifferentdaze · 08/01/2026 21:04

Heavy snow here in Shropshire. No work for me until next week thank the lord so can just look at it and say how pretty it is.

MadisonAvenue · 08/01/2026 21:10

East Staffs checking in again.
The forecast of sleet (by both the Met Office and BBC) was and still is totally wrong as 2” of snow has fallen since 7.30pm and is still coming down thick and fast.

Aaahhh hello lovely, my wonderful stepdaughter lives in Rushden …xxx

footballmum · 08/01/2026 21:14

For all those in the Midlands where it’s easing off, apparently the wind is going to change direction and blow it all back over us again!

JurgenKloppsTeeth · 08/01/2026 21:20

I thought it was easing off but it’s just picked up again! There was a big thump earlier so I wonder if a tree’s gone down nearby. Multiple power cuts nearby but we’re still on… for now. Apparently the NCI station at Stepper Point recorded a 123mph gust 😬

Sounds very tough! Wishing all in the Channel Islands well as it sounds like they’ll get the worst of it.

User8008135 · 08/01/2026 21:31

Nothing but tons of rain here. The local schools have put out 'not expecting snow so consider us open unless we text you' fb statuses so I'm guessing they've been asked a bit about it. I'm more concerned about ice here, with all the rain, if the temperature drops overnight. Doubtful we will see snow but ice can be lethal.

Raining still in north Hampshire, and no snow, although some of the local schools are closed tomorrow because of the storm.
I’d love to see pics of the snow if anyone wants to share ⛄️

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 08/01/2026 21:33

Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border here, the amber warning map has us in the very edge so inwas hoping we woukd skate it but it is snowing here and settling despite it having rained earlier.

I am really hoping it doesn't come down too heavy.
