@Mumtobabyhavoc - we have a trolley and DH bought some webbing straps after seeing the guys who delivered our stove use them. But the cross trainer needs to move over an expanse of gravel. So wheels don’t work unfortunately.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/01/2026 02:43

Winter, oh your post was brilliant! First, I smiled at you talking about your cat... up until I read she's almost 90. Then I realized you had switched to your mum and laughed at both my realization and your mum being querulous. Then decided to award you this 🥇for using such a great word (that I had to look up!) Brava all around!!! 👏🤗🩷
Peridot, what a pain to move that.

It doesn't really count as smug soup, but I heated up yesterday's beef barley soup, added another carrot and potato, a handful of grape tomatoes and a bunch of spinach. 😋
Now having a brownie with cappuccino froyo. 😋

Took the kids for their first pony ride today!!!
They loved it. 🤗
It was quite chilly and foggy there.

Threw laundry in when I got home (all our gear from being at the farm). Just remembered I need to give our boots a scrub.

Hoping @autumnangel and @mumofoneAloneandwell are doing okay. 🩷

Well I’m back from a few days in Morocco with some girlfriends. For the avoidance of any doubt, do not think that spending 4 hours on a plane heading south will give you better weather…

We left Agadir in pouring rain and 11°, and arrived back to exactly the same weather!

We had plenty of activities lined up and it was dry while we were there but in the Atlas mountains, you still need thermals. My factor 50 remained in the suitcase.

I now have JOBS TO DO…

  • work out how much money I’m going to need to achieve what I want to do this year. A holiday, home renovation and I’m funding my own 60th in June.
  • work out how to plan storage in my study ^^ see above under renovation
  • rearrange diary around DMs eye operation and various consultations over the next few weeks in conjunction with DBro. (She’s mid 80s and is NOT old either)
  • contact new mentee to mentor for my DA charity and arrange to meet.
  • process my own Atlas Mountain range of washing🧺🧺🧺
  • make a simple vegetable soup to live on for the next week after experiencing true Moroccan hospitality 😉
WinterFrogs · 19/01/2026 07:22

Why thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc! Takes a bow 😌
I communicate a lot on WhatsApp and realise that my grammar is not always what it should be as I've got a bit lazy. I should have written something like the cat got off, so I was able to visit my mother 🤦‍♀️

I'm rather pleased with 'querulous' too and I thank you for my 🏅 It just seemed rather apt yesterday. Poor little soul. She just wants to be better and go home, and doesn't understand that there is no better.

Did you you take the kids to a riding school or one of those pony rides where you get just a quick go? Little ones do really love it. Something about pony movement is unlike most other things. And little kids don't seem to feel the same fear that older ones and adults do. As I warned @mumofoneAloneandwell proceed with caution as if they really get into it, you will never have any time or money again 🤣

Agree about the difficulty of moving things on gravel @Peridot1. I have grounded wheelbarrows before.

I'm continuing my mission to organise my time better so I can get stuff done and be calmer about it. I have clutter on my 'chester draws' so I will address that. I am also pleased with myself for picking up pet meds on only my third drive past the vets. Currently there is always something that I should have done, but haven't.

Baby steps!

Best wishes to all 💐

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/01/2026 08:04

Winter, it's both, proper instruction from beginner to competition & pony rides which
are just walks around the farm for only a few minutes. But, for 4 & 2 year olds, pretty special. 🩷
We had horses when I was growing up and I trained in both English and Western. I know it was expensive then, but I think it is even more so now and not relative. I think I'll try a monthly pony ride and farm visit and see how the interest goes. I can look at children's courses later. I'm just so pleased they enjoyed it! 🩷🩷🩷
BTW, how lovely of you to mention you recall when I had Baby. If I remember, I hadn't mentioned my pregnancy until about 6 mos or so, maybe longer, and posted a scan pic of Baby's foot. I had been a bundle of nerves because I had miscarried a few months before that pregnancy, so I was a bit detached until I got near the end and finally felt I could believe it.

And now that little foot loves to walk on tip toes. 🥹🥰🩷

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/01/2026 08:17

Winter, "chester drawers" always reminds me that I stifle a giggle every time I go to the dentist for a cleaning and I'm asked if I use an electric toothbrush or Emmanuel. 😂

This might only make sense in our accent. The "a" in "a manual" sounds like a soft "e" like in "edit" and the name is often pronounced the same.

So.... imagine a teeny tiny little man .... 😁

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 19/01/2026 10:16

I rather fancy an emmanuel brushing my teeth!

Thanks to all.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 19/01/2026 10:20

I very briefly had a flirtation with Western riding when I was growing up also. Mainly because I REALLY wanted to get into barrel racing.

Then I discovered how terrifying that is!! So back to English and rather more sedate showjumping which was my major passion.

Sorry for brief posts and runs. I am about to head out and wanted to just drop by!

Hope everyone is well.

FurForksSake · 19/01/2026 11:24

Morning! My project for this week is the Coffee table storage unit. It’s full. It’s a mess and I need to do one bit at a time. We are turning our dining room into a cubby and putting our dining table and dresser into the kitchen. So that all needs emptying and then sorting too.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 19/01/2026 12:03

Good morning! Happy Monday! @WideOpenBeaches despite the weather sounds like a lovely trip!

My extra activity for today is contacting a seamstress I've been recommended re taking up some trousers (I am short). I'm about to pay an invoice now so go me!

SpiritOfEdna · 19/01/2026 12:21

I have got one xmas decoration that belonged to my mum (a pipe cleaner man) which without fail went on the tree every year - this year when we went to get it it was smashed (glass bauble on top for the head) so am trying to get it fixed/repaired in time for next year it was sadly missed this year. Busy day so drop and run for me 🤣SoE

Happy Will And Grace GIF by HULU

Just popping on to say hi 🥰🥰

Not much projecteering going on here tbh 😂 but surviving and living

I was doing a social media hiatus but broke it temporarily because of the gossip about the Beckhams 😅

would echo @WinterFrogs that the horse life is the way forwards, it’s in the cards for me and dd!

take care all and wish me luck as I try to become my best self —yet again— 🙈

xxxx

SunnyViper · 19/01/2026 22:21

Well it’s been quite a productive day here. Mondays tend not be my best😂. I’ve been to Halfords to get a new front number plate for the car. This is the second since Christmas! Whilst that was being done, I nipped next door to B&Q to get some keys cut.

Next was planting more trees and my sone helped as he isn’t in college on a Monday. I then got a quote for my drive from the chap doing next doors. It’s quite a large drive so I wasn’t expecting it to be cheap but it was 100k😱. Needless to say, that isn’t happening.

WideOpenBeaches · 19/01/2026 22:26

Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 @SunnyViper

(£100k for a driveway? You livin’ in Bucking’am Palace? 😉)

SunnyViper · 19/01/2026 22:51

@WideOpenBeaches 😂not Buckingham palace but one of the reasons to buy it was the large driveway which can fit around 20 cars on it. We have a minimum of 6 and up to 8 when everyone is back from university. Parking is at a premium in our village so I might start renting some out to pay for the new drive😂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/01/2026 02:17

That's a good idea, actually @SunnyViper 🤔

WideOpenBeaches · 20/01/2026 06:13

@SunnyViper Excellent idea! I’ve paid £8++ a day for parking in driveways through JustPark.

I’ve just worked out that you’d need to collect 12,500 cars @£8 a day to reach your £100k 😆😆

Might need to recalculate if the price is ex VAT ☺️

Peridot1 · 20/01/2026 06:38

Wow @SunnyViper. That’s a LOT. We have a long drive but it’s gravel so although it needs topping up and maintenance it’s not too expensive. And it has to stay gravel as that was part of the planning regulations when the house was built.

@mumofoneAloneandwell - hello! I read some of the Beckham saga. Quite sad really.

Good luck with getting the Christmas decoration fixed @SpiritOfEdna.

Yesterday was a bitty day. I slept late so felt the day got away from me. But I did get quite a few small admin things done. Plus normal laundry, kitchen etc. And finally cleared the remaining corner in my bedroom. And cleaned plug and overflow in downstairs bathroom.

Today I am up early as I need to go and have an auditory/balance test. Which is more complicated than I was expecting and I had sort of ignored until they phoned yesterday. Was supposed to have had my ears checked for wax….. And it’s over an hour away by train. And I thought it was at 11.30 but it’s at 9.30. So not sure what I will get done today as not sure when I’ll get home.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 20/01/2026 07:19

Hey@Peridot1 💕- what he said about his parents bringing around his exes to make him and his wife feel uncomfortable hit home! My estranged family would do this with my bullies. 100% believe him. That said, I am enjoying the public shaming of the parents, and NEED to see Victoria’s dance 👀👀👀 (edit, best of luck with the ear test today - when it comes to health stuff, it’s fine for the day to be planned around it)

today it’s just to clean the flat (as usual) and make a pot of bolognese. I got some truffle cheddar that I am dying to try out. And then to get off social media for my mental health

my love to you all, always. The number of new posts, omg, you’ve all been busy - hello to the newcomers! 🥰🥰 - it’s a safe space here

will hopefully catch up soon x

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 20/01/2026 08:19

I contacted the seamstress yesterday! And - even bigger perhaps - deleted my Duolingo account! I feel so much lighter already.

One load of laundry is in. Today's task will be... Listing five items on the WhatsApp groups /Olio. Yes.

Have a good day everyone!

BerfyTigot · 20/01/2026 10:32

Today i have a long overdue email to reply to, a phone call to my dad's bank and tidying his house so that his cleaner can get in to nooks and crannies.

I'd love to ride again- hoping to be fit enough one day...

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 20/01/2026 11:15

Hi all- busy thread today!

I have the boiler being serviced as we speak.

I have the waste people sending me a quote at 5 pm today and they can come on Saturday if i accept it. (Which there is no doubt tbh).

I have to pay a penalty charge for DH. He accidentally drove through an ultra low emission zone in London.

I have ALL of today dedicated to tidying and sorting upstairs. However it will have to be slow as although I feel reasonably well today I know that if I push it I will be floored for days. I have just put away a bunch of clothes.

Ouch on expensive quotes! I think sometimes people just chance their arm tbh. We have a semi-detached Victorian, red brick. The only external things that need painting are some external cornicing and windows and we were quoted 40k for that once. It ended up taking DH 2 days plus the cost of a ladder.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 11:20

Morning! I dealt with my next return and lovely evri man came for it.

Our boiler has broken so the plumber is coming out to look at that and the two thermostats on two of our showers which isn’t working properly. The joy. I’ve had a little tidy in advance of him coming.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 20/01/2026 11:38

@SingleThreadJoiner2 i freed myself from Duolingo last month 😂, the Statue of Liberty had nothing on me that day honestly!

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia your post reminded me that I drove in a bus lane today, accidentally, so have an £80 or something fine coming, yay 😪 - best of luck to you and @FurForksSake with boiler repairs, it’s about to turn colder I think

And @BerfyTigot you’ve reminded me that I need to call o2 - I need to change my number as I think I’ve been hacked! I keep on getting text messages trying to sign me up to WhatsApp and Facebook accounts! Hope you get the admin done - I’m eating as healthily as possible as I want to try to ride along with my dd

so far, I’m treating myself to a lay down before I have to leave for pick up - I don’t deserve it but oh well xx

BerfyTigot · 20/01/2026 12:08

Im lying down too! @mumofoneAloneandwell but writing my email.
