It was so lovely yesterday and looking the same so far today ☺️
Hello @petalpower lovely to see you ❤️

I need to change our bedding today and remember to pick up pet medication (two pets/two different vets)

Hugs all round ☕️ 🍰

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 19/03/2026 08:51

Hi all,

Yesterday was a busy day with a cat at the vet for the day doing a battery of tests. Turns out she is basically fine, despite being nearly 23 and having some troubling gastro symptoms with blood.

Today i have a day of errands.

I have bought a load of summer flowering bulbs and plan to plant them at some point this week.

BerfyTigot · 19/03/2026 09:31

I've ordered some shrubs for the garden this morning. Hope they come before the snow next week!

Today I'm waiting in for a delivery of a new backpack. Hoping to do some solo mini breaks this year.

But I also need to take the dog out and put all yesterdays decluttering into the car, ready to take to the charity shop.

Then I'm going to sort our stationery. It's built up over the years and the truth is that our kids are grown up, we rarely write notes or shopping lists, so we no longer need loads of paper and pens. So it's going!

And now that you lot have given me the heads up about colder weather coming, I'm going to make sure I sit in the garden later on.

Hope everyone has a productive day!

autumnangel · 19/03/2026 10:48

Lazy morning here as I don't start work until later. I got up and went straight outside to sit for 10 minutes. I really want to add this into my routine whatever the weather. Most of yesterday's tasks are done although still need to sort through 2 drawers but that can wait. I have an appointment later on with the solicitor dealing with DH's estate. I think everything will be tied up after this which is strange. Hopefully I'll get my will and POA updated whilst I'm there and that will be a massive thing ticked off the list. I'm also hoping to squeeze in a trip to Home Bargains before work so I best clean out the cupboard under the sink which houses all the cleaning things as I think I need to restock quite a bit.
Probably a bit too ambitious but I'd like to order a new drivers licence, renew library books and write letter to close bank account as well but can do tomorrow if I run out of time.

SpiritOfEdna · 19/03/2026 12:51

@WinterFrogs I often see a man walking in the park, reading poetry out loud. Sun is out, patio doors open and I've had a gym session this morning and then off to refpilates tonight. I am in a silent war with sibling. There is a fruit bowl that is for, well, fruit. Sibling puts in it all the rubbish that has a home elsewhere - dog poo bags, dog treats, cotton, bits of medicine, eye drops!!!. I take it out, the next day there are new, other, not fruit items in there. I am not going to say anything (yet!) but I can't promise not to snap soon.
Today

  • find some batteries for fairy lights that I liberated from the cemetery on Mother's Day.
  • I've lingered over a 'need to find' additional task which I can't remember, 😄hoping it'll come back to me. Just remembered!!!! A tape measure! Sitting in front of me. The task was to measure the yard for pergola space :-) Done - not enough yard for pergola.
  • Still need to find my debit card
  • SpiritDoggo at groomers later, luckily she is not matted so she will look all glossy and smell nice before her evening walk and then it'll be business as usual.
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE

@autumnangel oh my goodness, you're ambitious!! I can only set myself a couple of extra tasks a day, otherwise I feel overwhelmed and give up.

Will look forward to reading how many of them you squeezed in!

BerfyTigot · 19/03/2026 12:53

@SpiritOfEdna I hate losing stuff! Hope you find it soon.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/03/2026 16:17

Good morning everyone. 😊
It's 10c and raining here. We're been under an atmospheric river since Sunday, so almost continuous rain, often downpour. ☔️😔

Taking dc to pediatrician shortly for check-up after that awful d&v. I have a dental appt later this afternoon. A few nights ago I was ambitious and did some painting in the kitchen - did I mention that upthread? 🤔
I was out last night and gas prices were $2.10 p/L. FGS. 😳

Peridot1 · 20/03/2026 09:28

Good morning all. Our sunshine seems to be taking a break today after a few glorious days. Cloudy today but sunshine tomorrow again. 🤞

Yesterday DH and I went to have another look at the furniture we are looking at for the living room. All good to go so that’s being ordered today. Also started thinking about colours for the hall stairs and landing. Electrician came by to look at where new light will go to give a quote. Also got a quote for the new blinds for the kitchen. I’m keen to go ahead and- DH less so. His fault we are replacing them as he talked me into fake Roman blinds with a roller blind underneath and I hate it. Looks ridiculous.

One of the fake Roman blinds can go in his study so not totally wasted.

Today I think I need to get onto moth control/defense. The little blighters are back. There were fur in my bedroom this morning. I’m going to take all the clothes out of my walk in wardrobe and give it all a good clean. Give my bedroom a good dust and vacuum. Spray moth repellent and set sticky traps.

Anything else I get done today will be a bonus. Dishwasher is done. DH will be gardening. I might quickly run the small lawn mower around under the washing lines. DH did some of it yesterday on the ride on mower but the edges need doing.

We are going to the pub tonight for dinner so once kitchen is done it should stay relatively tidy. 🤞

Have a great day all.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 20/03/2026 10:29

Oh not the moths again @Peridot1 !they are most unwelcome!

Busy couple of days here. Sorting out clubs for D next term. Ordering new bits of uniform. Going to check on parents' flat renovations and finding a couple of things the builders had overlooked and need to rectify (it's looking good though!). Laundry.

Just now I've finished unpacking the grocery delivery and sorted a few clothes out for donations - hoping a friend will take the bulk of it to make my life easier!

Later this morning I have to go into town as I discovered some shop vouchers that expire at the end of the month - it's a tough job but someone's got to spend them 😂

petalpower · 20/03/2026 11:32

You’ve reminded me to buy more moth sticky pheromone traps @Peridot1 . The little blighters are showing themselves again.
I used up some vouchers a couple of weeks ago @SingleThreadJoiner2 . Found a whole load from previous Christmas and birthdays. Some had expired but I’ve still got £20 worth of Waterstones vouchers to treat myself. Also £100 worth of theatre tokens that have no expiry and were given to DH and I for our 50th birthdays nearly 7 years ago!

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 20/03/2026 11:36

How civilised to have no expiration date!

petalpower · 20/03/2026 12:07

I know @SingleThreadJoiner2 ! Very pleasing.
Currently waiting for the plumber to finish changing our kitchen tap and the filter under the sink so that I can go on an errands run - butchers, greengrocers, vets to pick up meds for Petaldog and then to the shop that has been repairing two clocks for us. We’ve also had a supermarket delivery, the carpenter to fix the leg on a piece of furniture and someone to replace a tyre on DS’s car so it’s been quite a morning of it!!

BerfyTigot · 20/03/2026 13:53

There are so many things that I ought to be doing, but I'm sitting in the garden with a glass of lemon squash.

Now that I know it's getting cold again next week, I feel it would be a crime not to sit in the sunshine 😆

Peridot1 · 20/03/2026 15:23

Yes @SingleThreadJoiner2 and @petalpower - it’s that time of year! I think they are just starting to hatch as they are small. Checked two of the sticky traps in the spare bedrooms and there were loads on those but they are from last year. So all traps replaced with new now and I’ve closed off those rooms. I had a good look in my room and wardrobe and there doesn’t seem to be many so I haven’t cleared the wardrobe out. I have some of the smoke bombs so we are planning on using them tomorrow in the bedrooms.

Ended up gardening this afternoon as it’s lovely here. Not as cloudy as forecast. Most of the patio pots are now weeded and/or emptied of last year’s annuals.

@BerfyTigot - definitely enjoy the sunshine. We need the vitamin D after the winter!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/03/2026 16:38

Quick "hello" thread friends. 💛
Sending 💐 for the moths. I hate them. They're like little bats. 🦇 Hate those, too. Moths are not as much of an issue here as it seems they are there, though. 😅
Do you have flying ants? I hate those, too - they kind of freak me out. I think we're going to have a lot of them this year as our winter has been so mild, so likely end April once it gets warmer. It's usually somewhat biblical for a couple of weeks for them in certain areas anyway. 😬

Have had lots of errands and appts this week. Have got laundry on now. Fridge tech coming shortly with new door for new fridge. 🙄

RunningKatie · 20/03/2026 20:37

We have what is known as flying ant day around here but apart from that not too troubled by them thankfully!
Also, no moths thus far. Crossing fingers now I'm not cursing myself.
Tonight has been life admin - dog holiday paid for, tennis too, and ordering more revision books. Next I need to flop on the sofa and watch Gardeners World, everything feels much calmer when Monty Don is in charge of Friday nights.

FurForksSake · 21/03/2026 11:27

Morning! Today im planting seeds for the allotment, I might brave going up tomorrow to start prepping some beds.

Peridot1 · 21/03/2026 13:20

We get flying ant day too. Hate it. It’s more than one day usually too.

@Mumtobabyhavoc the moths are really small. About the half the size of my pinky finger nail bed. But they can do so much damage.

No new ones spotted today so I think they may be mainly in the small spare room which is now closed off. I’m going to use one of the smoke bombs in there this afternoon. Then I can leave it closed off until tomorrow.

Feeling a bit slow and lazy today. Was supposed to go to garden centre but couldn’t summon up enthusiasm. I didn’t sleep well so suspect that is why.

Will do a bit more gardening this afternoon. At least finish the pots. And DH is opening up the new bistro set we got for the new gravel garden at the side of the house. It’s a nice sunny spot in spring and autumn. I’d love to get it all planted but we are still getting some overnight frosts so need to wait a few weeks.

Then I might have a nap!

WinterFrogs · 21/03/2026 14:21

Hi all! I am having a very lazy day. My week off got busy and I'm going to have to scurry about getting the place straight. I have big plans to get my act together though. Went to a garden centre this morning and now I am full of big ideas, but not actually acted on them yet. I can hear lawn mowers and children playing outside. I think another coffee then I will do something useful 😊

RunningKatie · 21/03/2026 15:23

I'm having a coffee and sitting in a cafe with an A-Z of London from the late 90s making plans. Thankfully I also have wifi so those plans are giving a nod to London of the 2020's, so much has changed!
Any top tips for teens? Thus far we've got - Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Sherlock Holmes Museum, theatre one eve - there was a plan for an open top bus but then I looked at the cost! Now I'm looking at regular buses, harking back to my 90s commute.

WinterFrogs · 21/03/2026 15:31

That sounds like fun @RunningKatie!

I'm still on my backside and I have just installed then uninstalled Finch. Not for me. I think cute apps like that just run old curmudgeons like me up the wrong way 😳 Something else to be grumpy about 🤣

WinterFrogs · 22/03/2026 12:25

Hi all 👋 Another gorgeous day here. It's really feeling Springy!
I've pulled myself out of the doldrums and have got back to the daily routines.

Food will be very simple this week as that's one of the things that makes life feel overwhelming.

I have got to dust and polish the glass tv stand today. And I'd quite like to mow the lawn.

I really rate the War Cabinet Rooms.
