Laundry has been hung up (got dc to help) and I vacuumed. Also did 4 sinus rinses to try and dislodge the blockage. Lying down now. Ugh. 😔

Thanks. It's what I've been trying, more or less, but it just never uploads, just spins for ages...

You might try to re-boot your phone?

BerfyTigot · 22/02/2026 14:23

Afternoon all.

I have a load of laundry in the machine and have emptied all the bins in the house. Feeling pleased with myself.

Now going to sit in the garden as it's quite nice here.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 22/02/2026 14:34

Hi all- I am currently meal planning for the week. Last 2 weeks I have concentrated on just shoving things in the oven as I have been tired. I'm through that so have been having fun planning things. Tonight will be cod baked with sliced peppers, olives and lemon with rice and herbs followed by cheese, fruit and dates.

I am thinking of starting some sort of evening course. I feel a bit - boring. Our local adult education centre mainly focuses on things like plastering and gas safety courses which don't immediately appeal though.

Hope everyone is fine and well.

petalpower · 22/02/2026 20:48

@RunningKatie I also have the Puzzle of Positivity jigsaw and did it last week! I love a good jigsaw and Gibsons ones are my favourites.
Hope you are all ok. I’m still here but don’t have much bandwidth (is that the right word?) for posting at the moment. Pulled in lots of directions. Aren’t we all?! Will be back soon.

WinterFrogs · 22/02/2026 20:59

Hello all! Lovely to 'see' you @petalpower I hope you and yours are all ok!

DH has been shopping and came back with lots of vegetables so I see soup and some vegetarian dishes in my future. I should do the shopping really then I'd buy what I feel like cooking. Now I'm feeling under pressure! But grateful that we have plenty, of course. And I don't much like shopping so it works, mostly.

Still no photobook 😬

I have had a chilled day followed by an easy roast (ie roast chicken with tinned potatoes and salad. Hashtag lazy)

Washed mum's hair as she is convinced that the care staff are too busy. I think it's more a case of 'my daughter will do it'. I've been a carer and it really doesn't take long. It's quite sweet really. Maybe she trusts me more.

No projects today.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/02/2026 21:29

No projects today (so far!). Was up with the 4:45am alarm for the Olympic men's hockey final (CAN/USA). It was a heartbreaker for us in OT. Went back to bed then up at 11am to put brunch together (Liege waffles, whipped cream, maple syrup; fruit platter). Watching the Closing Ceremony now, keep pausing and rewinding due to kids needing interventions 🙄 and have got dishwasher on. Wiped kitchen floor as well.

BerfyTigot · 23/02/2026 08:58

Just to add to the jigsaw comments, my favourite are Elena Essex- this one is £20 though!

BerfyTigot · 23/02/2026 09:03

Today I've got a consultant appointment, a blood test and a chiropodist appointment. Trying to reframe them as self care rather than chores.

Need to relax a bit too as I'm off to look after my dad tomorrow.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 23/02/2026 17:43

Happy Monday everyone. I've paid an invoice, emptied another suitcase, and am trialing a new backup babysitter (our usual one is on sick leave). Plus of course regular workday after a week off - I managed to put a pretty good dent in my email pile!

WideOpenBeaches · 24/02/2026 07:17

I love a jigsaw! Trouble is, I start one and then NOTHING gets done until I’ve finished it. DM gave me one for Christmas, and I’ve yet to start it.
I find them so addictive.

I think they’d be good for some of my mentees to calm their minds, and bodies too… however, you’re either a ‘jigsaw person’ or you’re not IMHO.

Back from a week skiing with the family. Tons of washing to process and an empty fridge. I know my jobs for today…

Trying not to be wound up by SIL who posted ‘Such a lovely week skiing and making memories (🤢) with friends and family’ on FB.

She used 2 of my photos in her line up but failed to include or acknowledge that we were even there. I’m trying really hard to Let It Go. 😡

BerfyTigot · 24/02/2026 08:07

@WideOpenBeaches I'm afraid I'd be a bitch and comment underneath that you agree it was fab, and that you're so pleased with those 2 pics you took.

But I'm a menopausal crone, so ignore me.

WideOpenBeaches · 24/02/2026 08:37

@BerfyTigot Im also a menopausal old crone which is probably why I’m feeling like this in the first place.

SIL and I are such different people and despite finding common ground with all sorts of people in life (I have too many friends tbh) I have never connected with her in 18 years. Lord knows I’ve tried…

Shes highly driven - unlike me (or my DBro)- but runs their family life at breakneck speed. Everything is scheduled and there’s no room for error. It all has to be done to her satisfaction and what she says…goes.

There is no clock in the kitchen as it ‘ruins her aesthetics’, but that’s another thing 🙄

She’s also pretty shitty to DBro. Makes a lot of things his fault which certainly aren’t. He seems to take it on the chin but has real issues with his heart and is booked in for an op soon.

I can’t believe that the two things aren’t unrelated.

Makes me worried, sad and angry too.

Apologies for outburst. It’s touched a nerve!

BerfyTigot · 24/02/2026 08:47

@WideOpenBeaches oh gosh that sounds like a really difficult relationship. I absolutely agree that some illnesses can be caused by stress. Hope your DB health improves soon.

I did have to laugh at the clock ruining the aesthetic. 🙄🙄

WideOpenBeaches · 24/02/2026 08:56

@BerfyTigot Maybe we should go with:

Does a Kitchen Clock Ruin Your Aesthetic?

Please Discuss…

😆😆😆

mumofoneAloneandwell · 24/02/2026 09:14

Hi everyone

the thread has moved lovely and fast, I am sorry, I don’t think I can catch up

back to school here. Dd is poorly but has gone to school - I am not sure we can cope with the journey across London anymore tbh. One traffic jam and it’s an hour added on to my (already 4 hours) time in the car. Sigh

Todays task is to take some rubbish to the dump, get the shutters open and light flooding through the flat, change sheets and put the clothes I was meant to hang up back into the machine.

as much as I love winter, I have loved seeing the sun. Although 16 degrees in London tomorrow which is a bit much!

love to all of you.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 24/02/2026 11:48

Long traffic journeys are a devil @mumofoneAloneandwell . The DCs school is 10 miles away but with current diversions it takes me just on 2 hours to get there and back right now. Oddly enough- I don't really mind it if I don't have anything else on that day. I'm currently listening to a John Grisham audiobook. I imagine that 4 hours of London traffic though is an utter misery.... ours is lucky we are mainly passing through woods and farmland.

Will you be looking for a different school? Thanks

I have - done the school run and taken the cat to the vet.

I have decided to avoid doing work for the court issue today. I can't face it. I do have to do some paperwork for DS1 though.

I will tidy upstairs and make a chicken and vegetable soup for the DCs dinner. Served with ham and cheese baguettes. I have found if I blend it properly I can apparently sneak leeks into soups.

RunningKatie · 24/02/2026 17:24

I have crossed something off my list that has been there since September! Ha, take that returned parcel of random book I didn't order or get charged for.
Absolutely sure there are many other things on the list that have been there longer.
DC are back at school, ddog has an upset stomach and looks sad. He always looks sad but this is next level sadness bless him.
That jigsaw is lovely @BerfyTigot - I've got a Miss Marple one to do, that might be an Easter holidays one.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 24/02/2026 17:28

I left at 1.30 to pick dd up, and got home at gone 4.30 @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia - traffic jam! 😪😪 - was even late picking her up which I feel bad about 🥺. I didn’t mind my drive there today, had the windows down listening to some music - not as nice scenery as yours though!

Chicken and veg soup sounds amazing - I’ve got a lamb joint on in the oven, just gonna have some lamb with some veg 😂 - dd won’t even eat it

I am still trying to look for a closer school for her - it’s a nightmare

my to do list still exists - got to the dump too late and the washing is still in the machine 😂 - but will try to get it hung up tonight

@RunningKatie I have stuff from last year on my to do list as well. I tried to comfort myself by saying ‘well we’re only just in 2026’ but we’re almost in March!

❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/02/2026 22:30

Getting a few things done here. Cleaned most of bathroom last night (all, but tub) including floor and then wiped kitchen floor. Today have washed sheets and remade one bed then washed a loaf of clothes and hung them up.

Had contractor here to finish work on kitchen drawers and a cupboard replaced. Then it was an hour cleaning them out and reorganizing. Then vacuumed and washed the floor. Made lunch for the dc, iced caffe latte for me and I'm now on hold to extended health insurance provider to check a claim for my mum. 🙄😫 P.I.T.A.
Been on hold 22 mins so far.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/02/2026 23:42

And am now on Hold to 2nd Ext Health plan 26 mins so far. 🙄
Did manage to send additional document to first plan while waiting, though, so hopefully first plan will review quickly.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 25/02/2026 06:46

I hope you are not still on hold now @Mumtobabyhavoc ! Thanks

I was once on hold for 55 minutes for something. I was feeling stubborn. Once it ticked over to 56 minutes it auto-hung up on me. I was FURIOUS. That's the kind of thing that has me stamping my foot and throwing things. (Thus answering the age-old question- what age do children grow out of tantrums? In my case- 53).

I washed and remade the DCs beds yesterday. Have enough soup for tonight as well and will do a second course of vegetable pizzas.

Today is a clean up and paperwork day.

Hope everyone has a great day.

WinterFrogs · 25/02/2026 07:19

Morning all from another menopausal old crone - who can't be doing with either kitchen aesthetics or facebook, but who wouldn't say no to a ski trip ( except for the poor old knees) Or being kept on hold. I put headphones in and potter about, but then get startled when I finally get an answer, and forget who I am and why I was calling.

Love and solidarity to all! 💐 How is sad dog today @RunningKatie ?

I did quite a lot of shredding yesterday. I am down to one big notebook. I also used a rubber brush on the stairs with such gusto that the handle broke.

Batch cooking is underway and the freezer is starting to resemble my mother's, with layers of tubs. Even though it is nearly March as our @mumofoneAloneandwell pointed out, reducing food waste is my new year resolution. Along with keeping paper piles under control.

Got to get up now. Have a lovely sunny day everyone xx
