Today I’ve got to do a badge order for scouts, and something else I can’t remember.

Welcome to my world!

WinterFrogs · 10/02/2026 21:13

I am knackered!
So much for annoyingly bouncy three days into junk food free.

But I have not succumbed!

Lots of sorting done and a couple of jobs I have procrastinated on have been achieved, in the time honoured fashion of having bothered me for weeks and then taken less than an hour to do. One was changing my name on a document which I have just never got round to. In several years of having the name. Thanks to you good folk on this thread for the inspiration 💕

We just think these things are going to be hard! And they rarely are.

I cleaned my cutlery drawer today 🏅

WideOpenBeaches · 10/02/2026 22:38

Bravo @WinterFrogs 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/02/2026 23:43

I'm just lying in bed with the kids who both fell asleep after I forced a nap. Havoc had a fever of 39c so I gave Tylenol and Advil to bring it down so appetite would return. It worked and a half portion of pasta with veg and chicken was eaten with a hard boiled egg. Baby had been picking at the same half bagel with PB since morning, but ate a hard boiled egg white (has gone off yolks recently; Havoc did same for about 6 months). Both had water as well. I'm going to try and slip out of bed to have a bath as we're all in last night's pj's still.
Have got towels and washcloths on an extra long hot wash and added vinegar. Need to buy bleach, still.
Kudos for the niggling tasks everyone.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/02/2026 02:49

DC slept til 5pm. Did their baths and washed their hair, so hoping they feel good from that. I know I do when I'm sick. Got them a light dinner of chicken in brioche buns, berries, red pepper slices, grapes and slices of cheese. Havoc is sneezing, coughing and hoarse. Baby seems ok. Both want to go out. 🤦‍♀️
They're dressed, so I'll take them for a drive and maybe go through the car wash.
I'm eating a smug salad of spinach, grapes, tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper, grapes, chicken and feta with a Dijon vinaigrette and watching Olympic speed skating.

Oh @Mumtobabyhavoc just hearing about the news in Canada. Thanks to you and all your fellow Canadians. ❤❤

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/02/2026 06:26

I saw it after my last post. 💔
A parents' worst nightmare.

Oh @Mumtobabyhavoc just hearing about the news in Canada. Thanks to you and all your fellow Canadians. ❤❤

Just woke up to this too 💔

Bravo @WinterFrogs 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I don't think I commented on your post about taking your lady out to the chatty cafe, but bravo to you also. It's a lovely thing to do ( though I wish it wasn't necessary) 💐

WideOpenBeaches · 11/02/2026 08:10

Sending hugs to you @Mumtobabyhavoc for what’s happened in BC. Horrific. Everyone’s worst nightmare.

One of my DCs lives in BC but nearer Vancouver.

Sorry you’ve all been through the wringer at home and hope the car wash was a fun trip.

Baital · 11/02/2026 08:57

Flowers for all affected in Canada

WinterFrogs · 11/02/2026 16:09

I have cleaned my fridge and washed the shower curtain today. Beginning to feel like I have a handle on things again. I am thanking my past self for preparing a chicken casserole last night too. No stress, no strain, just bang on a few veggies later.

Hope you're all ok 💕

RunningKatie · 11/02/2026 16:12

Afternoon all, so sorry that Havoc and baby are sick. Hope they are on the mend soon.
The news from Canada was so shocking, such a small community, it will affect so many lives.
In my quest to declutter yesterday I took 3 pairs of glasses for recycling. Cleared a tiny space on the bookshelf next to my desk. It's a small win but I'm taking it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/02/2026 22:23

The RCMP say the person was 18f; victims at home were mum and brother/step-brother; mh history and known. 💔

Good errands done today! Mum and me at med appt, then bank and Costco where I ordered my mum's hearing aids $2000, which is pretty good. Next is submitting receipts to her extended health plans. Expecting 75% back. Info session soon at a school I've got Havoc wait-listed on. It's out of catchment, so it's a lottery system for us. I'm leaning towards it as it has a strong arts focus which I think will be a very good opportunity to do something different and creative.

WinterFrogs · 12/02/2026 07:38

It's so very sad @Mumtobabyhavoc Those poor families 😔

@RunningKatie i swear you've recycled specs before....how many do you have?? 😆
I'm down to three pairs. Learned the hard way to have spares the time I snapped my only specs in two, and I'm very short sighted! I had to call my mum to help me get the kids to school, then an emergency trip to the optician.

That reminds me, I need to book my mum an appointment with specsavers. They'll come to her care home thankfully. She's a bit of a snob and would prefer to be taken out to one in the town, but it's a lot to manage on my own and siblings are pretty useless.

@Mumtobabyhavoc I hope you get the school of your choice. Our littlest got their second choice, but she's very happy there. Can't believe she's nearly halfway through reception!

Happy Thursday all ☕️ 🍰

Baital · 12/02/2026 08:15

Well done on all these 'life admin' tasks, and kudos to those managing 'stuff' for others as well, parents or children!

DD is largely self organising these days, although tidying the kitchen after she's used it is very much Work in Progress 😡

This is my work week, seven shifts in seven days, so I am just doing the minimum at home.

Next week I have big plans, and if I achieve half of them I will be very smug.

RunningKatie · 12/02/2026 10:13

@WinterFrogs - recycling glasses seems an ongoing task! Four of us wear them, so they are everywhere. I think I've found them all now.
Still trying to sort my optimum wfh layout, I got rid of the big table I was using and have got a smaller desk but the room is still filled with general stuff.
I've started a list for half term week, I'm off for a couple of days, the list could take a couple of weeks! Ever the optimist.
We've started looking at sixth forms for dc1, I miss the reception and early years stages although I am excessively proud that they now remember PE kit without prompting.
Today's task is to find a UPS dropoff point, the website seems to be woefully inaccurate.

SpiritOfEdna · 12/02/2026 14:21

hello! runs in, waves and runs back out again. Not much project-ing going on here - am soooo busy with work (and interviewing again, fingers crossed have offered!!!!!) and composing cross emails to all and sundry. Laughing at the those deleted, and I see @mumofoneAloneandwell is causing mischief out in the wild. Nice to see you back though.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/02/2026 19:19

Nothing much to report here. Two loads of laundry washed and hung up last night + vacuumed.
Waiting for fridge tech to come by.
Kids are still a bit sick and now I've come down with it.
And, it's raining. ☔️

Anyone making plans for Valentine's Day (or, is it more of a thing over here?)?

RunningKatie · 13/02/2026 20:29

Get well soon @Mumtobabyhavoc - hope you're being well looked after.
For valentines, DC2 and I are off out for a jolly day visiting the aquarium. DH and DC1 are staying at home, so romantic as ever!
We've made it to half term, I'm still working but it's a relief to ease off on packed lunches and uniform for a week.
Work has been hard this week so I'm drinking a wine and watching the olympics. I am in awe of the atheletes.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/02/2026 22:20

Katie, me too re the Olympics' athletes!

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 13/02/2026 22:21

For Valentine's Day, my husband is driving D and me to the airport so we can go away for half term. Later in the day he's meeting up with a friend for some gaming. So we, too, are very romantic indeed ❤️

WinterFrogs · 14/02/2026 07:14

Morning all! @Baital seven day shift?? Is it you who supports vulnerable adults in your work? I hope you have a good week 💐

Big high five to all of you who've got older kids getting more independent 💕 Even if they do make a bit if a mess sometimes...

They are so cute when they are little though, agreed @RunningKatie! I sometimes miss those days too. Though I'm sure it's a bit rose tinted in my case as littlest, though adorable, is very tiring and while we love having her we are always happy to hand her back. A cliché, but true!

Hello @SpiritOfEdna lovely to see you, even briefly 😁 Fingers crossed for latest interviewee!

Get well soon @Mumtobabyhavoc That's very hard with little ones and your mum needing a bit of looking after as well 😔

We're so romantic here that I'm helping out with the horses while himself does the grocery shop this morning then he's going to football this afternoon thus getting out from under my feet, then we're going to see my mum this evening.

Have a lovely time away @SingleThreadJoiner2!

I see @Peridot1 has landed safely as I bumped into her on the puzzle board 😊

I've downloaded the flylady app and have been doing the routines all week which means the house is remarkably fresh and airy, and I'm remarkably calm. Cutlery drawer is clean, fridge is clean, sink and work tops clear and quite shiny. Next up is doing something about the feezer, and using things on rotation. No more finding unidentified tubs of who knows what lurking at the back...she says hopefully. No More Waste if only I can get a handle on that!

Big hello to everyone I've not mentioned- how are you all doing? I'm having a solitary cuppa with big cat sleeping beside me and a soothing early-morning-campfire-by-a-lake-in-the-mountains video on the telly. Nice way to start the day.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 14/02/2026 07:32

Morning all. Hope you feel better soon @Mumtobabyhavoc

No plans re Valentines day here. DH is still working away. I am taking the DCs swimming. Making duck ala orange for dinner. (Or at least putting frozen pre-made duck ala orange into the oven).

WideOpenBeaches · 14/02/2026 08:27

My OH is away skiing so I’m hooking up with a GF who’s recently divorced and we’re having a curry. I promised her on the run up to Christmas that we’d get together in January… so I’m only a few weeks late 😆

One of my local shops stocks frozen curries made by a local lady. They’re absolutely banging… so she’s hosting and doing rice and sides and I’m arriving with curry.
