DS will only wear shorts

Does anybody else have one of these? He is determined to wear shorts throughout the whole year. He insists that he is not cold (he is).

Has anyone found any solutions?

All the boys in DS class wore shorts all year & played footie every chance they could. They were all fine.

I also have a 9 year-old who refuses to wear trousers and claims he will overheat and DIE if his legs are not bare. His genetics are 1/4 Norwegian, 1/2 Scottish and 1/4 West Country, I guess it’s not surprising he’s hardy.

I’m glad to hear that we are not alone but a question for those in the same boat- have any if you ever had the school tell you that you must make them dress warmly? I worry that we will be seen as bad parents.

Mine not only rejects cosy pyjamas but also refuses to wear the top half of the shorty sets!

And as soon as he gets home he strips straight down to pants.

He has several pairs of trousers that have been outgrown without even being worn once…

Haha yes that's the process. My brother (English in England) was a shorts boy who grew out of it so they don't all turn into shorts men, but I think in the UK most people know a few shorts men.

I've never seen one in Iceland and I think it is because you just can't be a shorts boy. Same way there are no babies who 'won't wear hats' in Iceland.

DH was wearing shorts yesterday in -5 degrees. He’s been like this since childhood.

My DS is now in first year at high school, hasn’t worn long trousers since P5.
insists he’s not cold, has a permanent tan on his legs. Thought it was a phase that would pass but so far has shown no signs of stopping.
weirdly enough will wear pyjama bottoms in the house 🤦‍♀️. . So yes there are others out there 😂

Mine did 8-11, changed when he went to high school, he'll be fine.

I see more and more grown men wearing shorts all year round these days. I dont get it. Women dont. We'd freeze. What is it with the male species

Yes mine. All the way to secondary school. His mates too.

My youngest DS only wears shorts (apart from school!) and he’s 13! He doesn’t appear to be cold, so I just leave him to it!!! He’s got other trousers & joggers that he can wear, but will always choose shorts over anything else!

My DS and his friends wore shorts every single day of primary school P1 - P7 (they had option of long trousers also). They had long school socks but he pushed them down.

My daughter wears shorts every day. She cannot stand anything touching of her legs and will not wear pants. Ever.
Even ice skating.
I think she is just runs warmer.
I bought her black shorts if she has to go to a funeral and I just let her do what makes her happy.

Presumably you mean pants in the American sense not the British one?!

This has occupied more of my thoughts than is normal, I keep seeing shorts boys and thinking about them turning into shorts men, it has made me laugh.

Same with my late teen son - he’s currently sat on the sofa in shorts whilst I’ve got three layers of clothes on, under a big blanket - and still cold!! My brother is just the same as 50 😁

DS1 wore shorts 8-12 at his prep but they wore cord shorts, thick shirts, woollen jumpers and thick long grey socks.
There is a local comp I drive past on my way to work, there is a mid teen boy who has been wearing shorts since presumably yr7, I noticed there were another 2 lads with him wearing shorts this week.
