What's your current first world problem?

Come share your trivial first world problems. Light-hearted, obviously.

My daughter has a new year birthday. We have very generous friends and family. I am now the owner of about eleventy-million gift bags that are too nice to put in the recycling.

My shoulder and neck are in agony from sleeping in a stupid position and instead of doing the work I planned on, I have to rest it. (I did try powering though for a couple of days but it made it even worse.)

My new house is too big and now I feel uneasy in it

I had this when we moved into our new house. Took myself by surprise- I’m not normally a worrier. It’s eased over the last few months (moved in June) so hopefully it’ll pass for you too.

I know, I have uneaten cheese which I think i can take in the hand luggage, thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers

I have devastating news for you. You can’t. Not even in a sandwich. Handhold.

I can't decide which snow boots to buy for our ski trip...

Ditto, i need to get a new ski jacket but I can't be arsed going to the shops. Sigh.

Can't sleep with random anxiety - this is the thread I never knew I needed!! 😝 Strength to you all and thank you for the laughs ❤️

I can't have an Indian takeaway. Boo hiss. (Am otherwise perfectly well fed and watered)

Kitterkitkat · 10/01/2026 03:44

Insomnia and sore throat, really! And having to go to the kitchen to get a hot drink with honey to soothe it.

Seems like such an effort to get out of bed.

This makes me sad. We downsized significantly and I really miss my big house (though I’m glad we don’t have to heat it)!

A house is only as big as the room you’re currently in.

Getting up early to go somewhere and it's been cancelled

(It, to be fair, is bloody cold and a bit icy here)

Imperfectpolly · 10/01/2026 13:13

We have people doing some work in our house for free. They want pizza for lunch. We live rurally so no delivery available. I'm going to have to drive(15 mins each way) to get it.

Still hung up on being a midget tbh, real female napoleon syndrome here. My whole timid personality I’m convinced is based on being shorter than everyone else.
I always felt like an overgrown child compared to the other mums when I had my first child at 16 and now with my second child I feel the same and realise it’s my height not my age.

Oh dear, I’m the exact physical opposite; I hate it & have a complex all of my own. Hate the looks I have always had about it, and am truly ashamed to show my face sometimes, even though clearly it’s not something I can influence!

everardshutthatdoor · 10/01/2026 20:09

Eleventybillion channels and I can’t find anything I want to watch on television.

Also I’m down to my last Waitrose
cinnamon knot from Christmas.

TheClocksFast · 10/01/2026 20:47

My love affair with Quality Street is over.

It’s been a long, slow decline but the time has finally come. I’m both devastated and relieved but it’s time to LTB!

RIP Quality Street. We had some good times… (but you now make me sick).

DH managed to leave his laptop charger at work (250 miles away), so is having to use my laptop.

He has 28 browser tabs open. How can he work like this?

Shall I sell my horse or not? This is genuinely keeping me awake at night ....

Ooh that's quite a genuinely difficult one! Why are you thinking of selling?

At this time of year I can think of a few reasons!

DinoLil · 11/01/2026 14:37

I had a Hive thermostat fitted, wanted one since I moved in and finally got one about six months ago.

It's made the boiler really noisy. The boiler is in my bedroom. So now I have to turn the boiler off. Instead of dashing downstairs to click on the old thermostat, I have to go upstairs to turn the boiler on to have hot water, never mind heating.

@TheClocksFast I share your pain, though certainly don’t want to share your QS any more. Would you like an Elizabeth Shaw mint?

Only if they’re still good. I’m finding most chocolate pretty crap now 😢

everardshutthatdoor · 12/01/2026 16:55

My new M&S boots bought in the sale are uncomfortable. They can’t go back so I’m going to have to break them in.

TigerRag · 13/01/2026 19:05

My chocolate biscuit was missing half of its chocolate
