How much work are you actually doing? (Appreciate if you work in retail you can't exactly slack off). But I have practically nothing to do. Just keeping an eye on my laptop at this stage...

Busy the same as all other days and on call for a late shift on Christmas Eve

ChocoChocoLatte · 22/12/2025 19:14

I work in M&S …….

WinterNightStars · 22/12/2025 19:26

Practice nurse - crazy busy!

anon666 · 22/12/2025 19:53

I did some shredding of confidential waste. A long lunch break. Then wrote some Christmas cards.

Last day today!!

AsideFromThis · 22/12/2025 19:57

Flat out here and will be until I finish at 6pm Christmas Eve. Than back in on 29th

Radionowhere · 22/12/2025 19:58

Didn't even manage to make myself a cuppa during work today, far less log on to Mumsnet. I'm tired and dehydrated 😆

Statsquestion1 · 22/12/2025 20:00

Tomorrow I’m working…but I will be baking, going to the orthodontist and doing some last minute shopping. I have nothing to do for work…same Christmas Eve. 🤣

MyRoseRaven · 22/12/2025 20:00

Actually had a busy day but may get a quieter one tomorrow as only two of us in out of an office of 20. I actually like working to clear things off my desk this time of the year. Less interruptions, able to go off on my holiday with nothing hanging over me, etc. Feel very fortunate to get a solid break at this time of the year unlike other jobs.

AGreenWitch · 22/12/2025 20:03

Busy here, I'll be back at my desk next week, lots of stuff to do before 31/12.

FlyingCatGirl · 22/12/2025 20:12

We had some festive fun in the office today but working from until Jan 5th, we can log off at 2pm on Xmas Eve. I work for a H&S consultancy and client needs will be very quiet at this time of year but our big bugbear is that we take calls from staff that have had verbal abd aggressive behavioura from customers on behalf of a lathe jatge financial organisation so the situation is, if customers show respect than it could be quiet but if they keep kicking off and threatening workers it could be hell especially as from 29th to 31st we are on very, very skeleton staff to take the calls. It's a side to the job I wasn't told I was signing up for and can be pretty grim so I'm desperate for customers to behave over the Christmas period.

hyggetyggedotorg · 22/12/2025 20:13

I work in primary care so it’s winter flu/illness season! As busy as ever.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 22/12/2025 20:21

I work in informatics/IT in the NHS in a team which has too few people and too much work. I'm working till Christmas eve and will have plenty to do.

Waitingfordoggo · 22/12/2025 21:02

I’m teaching fitness classes and also doing Home Help for Age UK. I’m working up till and including Xmas Eve but not very many hours. I wouldn’t want Xmas Eve off as those classes are great- everyone is in a good mood and lots of people enjoy the chance to put silly outfits/hats/antlers on!

Waitingfordoggo · 22/12/2025 21:03

But no slacking off of the actual work because it’s a specific task in a specific time frame.

starballoons · 22/12/2025 21:06

I got loads of delayed admin done today, I was really productive. I’m wfh tomorrow and expect my emails to be even quieter so might wrap some presents at my desk as I don’t really have more than 2 hours of work to do

MinnietheMini · 22/12/2025 21:45

Infection Control Team - NHS, very busy and left work late today.

PersephoneSmith · 22/12/2025 21:49

Absolutely masses of work, more than usual because a couple of my colleagues are off this week.
We do close Christmas Day and Boxing Day but then that means we are playing catch up for the next 3 Saturdays.
It’s annoying when people assume that everyone can take 2 weeks off for Christmas or sit around eating mince pies.

FairViewRosie25 · 22/12/2025 21:57

I’m retired but there is a specific phone admin thing only I Know how to do (Christmas closes shit) so will go in on Wednesday morning to do that before I pick up my xMas food

socks1107 · 22/12/2025 21:58

Not a lot, worked this morning then did the ironing. I’ll go into the office tmrw and have enough to keep me busy all day

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 22/12/2025 22:06

Im a nurse so the usual amount of work.

Notmyreality · 22/12/2025 22:10

Bugger all. I WFH so it’s email watching. Answering important questions like “Do you think I should cancel this meeting on Xmas Eve?” Gee let me think…
Caught up on some training and webinars I missed earlier in the year.
Put my teams on green and spent an hour in the garden doing bits and bobs while the weather is ok.
Went for a walk for an hour.

labamba18 · 22/12/2025 22:29

I run a business that helps other businesses and due to the budget and all the pre-budget scaremongering we’re now busy in December when it used to quiet (as people have some certainty). Not great because sept and oct are more quiet now. Sigh.

HonestGoldAnt · 22/12/2025 22:30

I'm in finance admin and we're working till midday Xmas eve. We have lots of month end finance jobs to do to prep for month end deadline of 5th Jan, plus still getting externals docs and emails. Some teams in our building have nothing to do so theyre sat at their desks chatting and doing quizzes, im quite jealous of them !

HerRoyalNotness · 22/12/2025 22:35

Full on day shutting down a cancelled project. Hopefully a bit lighter tomorrow than off from Wednesday. Company is shut for 2 weeks, so this is unusual

Tillow4ever · 22/12/2025 22:41

I’ve been mental workload wise the last few weeks. Last week I was starting between 6.15am and 7.15am every morning, finishing between 5 and 6.30pm each evening, no lunch breaks. Today I did 7.15am-5.45pm. BUT I think I have got almost everything done that I needed to for our year end now, so if everything goes to plan tomorrow, I intend to be finished for the day by 11am latest. If it doesn’t go to plan, I’ll either work later or take a break until after 1:30pm when I will check if the final items I’m waiting on have appeared on the system. Luckily for me, instead of 2 large batches of the weekly invoices coming in, I received just 1 invoice that will need processing. I did all the checks on it today, I just need our accounts team to have loaded it correctly today for it to appear in the morning!

My desk (I wfh) needs a serious tidy up so I will do that as if I were in the office it would be done during working hours. That way I’ll still be available if anything urgent comes through. I managed to get my inbox cleared today, and all of my spend trackers set up for 2026 so I’m feeling pretty pleased with myself now!
