How much work are you actually doing? (Appreciate if you work in retail you can't exactly slack off). But I have practically nothing to do. Just keeping an eye on my laptop at this stage...

OP posts:
TeenLifeMum · 22/12/2025 10:42

My emails are dead. I’ve proofed some work and need pull a short presentation together but otherwise it’s quite. Very very rare and January will make up for that 😆

travailtotravel · 22/12/2025 10:43

I have got so much to do to close the year ....

TokyoSushi · 22/12/2025 10:43

Basically nothing, hence being on here...

TheRealMagic · 22/12/2025 10:48

I think you're going to get an unrepresentative sample, in that you'll get the people on MN because they're bored (ahem, like me) rather than the manically busy ones!

BlackKnightinYellowWellies · 22/12/2025 11:02

I am one of a handful of people who are student facing today, so not busy, but it will be extra hard to help those that need it, as all the other staff have finished or will be impossible to reach!

FiredFromACannon · 22/12/2025 11:06

Not a huge amount, there’s work to be done but I’m not in the mood, it can wait until January!

JudgeBread · 22/12/2025 11:07

Fire service. More than usual. Busy time of year. People are at home so there's a lot more cooking mishaps, lots of babies being locked in cars by busy rushed off their feet parents, lots of trees and lights and presents going up in smoke, it's been wet so there's a lot of flooding, and drink driving is rife so there's loads more RTCs than usual.

Still chill enough for me to take my breaks and browse Mumsnet though so not rushed off my feet! That'll be new years eve when everyone gets drunk and sets fire to themselves and their loved ones

Curiousrobin · 22/12/2025 11:08

Although I'm on annual leave at the minute and then have my part-time off days, I don't get an 'off for christmas'. I work with animals so my colleagues and I never stop (other than the odd day off/weekends when other colleagues are still in!). And no, the workload never slows down. It's no different from any other time of the year. I have no idea why I haven't tried to get an office job by now🥲

ArcticGrass · 22/12/2025 11:19

It's very quiet...I'm setting some stuff up for the New Year. Everyone we deal with has shutdowns this time of year so we basically shut down too....There are 4 of us in - I'm fairly sure only one of them is doing any actual work.

Statsquestion1 · 22/12/2025 11:20

Jack shit…I just sat with my manager and a few others for an hour chatting there. I’m just completing one small task and then I’m going home

Leavmealone · 22/12/2025 11:23

I work on a machine on a factory and we're busy. We're expected to shut down at 2om tomorrow but are hoping for an earlier finish than that 🤞🤞

pickywatermelon · 22/12/2025 11:23

Still hectic - I even have a client meeting on Dec 24 … Nov and Dec have been much busier this year than last year

Hoping it calms down more next week

BringBackCatsEyes · 22/12/2025 11:24

Freelancing atm so working as much as possible. Perfect at this time of year. Out for brunch atm but have done a few hours work.
I was out of work for a couple of months so the £ is very welcome.

TurboGirl2 · 22/12/2025 11:27

I have a few fairly urgent bits to do to make sure things are set up for campaigns starting in Jan but once those are done will mainly be monitoring emails.

Tiggles · 22/12/2025 11:28

I am incredibly busy with no room in the diary until about 1pm on Christmas day (including evenings).
But I'm a vicar, so I guess it is to be expected really 😇😂

PlazaAthenee · 22/12/2025 11:29

Working tomorrow and Weds. Admin, loads to do. It's keeping me awake as I realised what a backlog there is.

Belladog1 · 22/12/2025 11:29

I had last week off work, so I have quite a bit to get through over the next few days. But it isn't manic. I could easily squeeze it into 3 morning shifts as opposed to full days. I have only received 2 emails today!

blobby10 · 22/12/2025 11:31

I haven't got much on this morning but once everyone else finishes at lunch time, then my work will start! I won't be out before 5pm today if I don't want to come in tomorrow. I'm sending everyone home early as someone is retiring and I know they want to go to the pub - would rather not have them back around machines this afternoon and tbh all the essential work has been sent out already.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 22/12/2025 11:31

I’m in retail & finish at 5 on Christmas Eve. Then not working again until New Year’s Day. It was busy yesterday but not manic.
