Anecdote about wanking off three men in a random wood in Edinburgh or something. Everyone laughed hysterically.

Is it just me or have TV chat shows gone really downhill? Confused

She gives me the heebie jeebies.

Reminds me of a 15 yo who makes sex jokes their personality

Birlngsnotnicepeople · 29/11/2025 10:14

I am old, I care about myself. I don't want my family seeing an obese, crude woman.

I remember watching an episode of Graham Norton where she was 'benignly' racist towards Will.i.am - acting fascinated by the exotic black man. It was rather distasteful.

That was awful. Basically saying I've never met a real life black man before!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 29/11/2025 10:11

Off topic but didn't she voice the Cadbury bunny ads all those years ago. I used to love them.

And that is the essence of MM, how she is/was typecast because she wasn’t able to present herself in order to compete with the Helen Mirrens of the time. Yet, she is this amazing, intelligent, articulate woman whose character flaw, or sadness, is because the way she perceives of only being able to be picked for the ‘netball team’ is the ‘posh but smutty’ character. Hence I think the BBC editorial policy is failing her, and probably other interviewees.

i saw her on something years ago with Justin Fletcher (Mr Tumble) and she was absolutely vile to him. She really embarrassed him, she said ‘I’ve never heard of you’ and basically called him fat. He seemed such a sweet, quiet man and I hated her for it. Cannot stand her.

Nooo poor Justin. He’s one of the good ones.

WhatHoJeeves · 29/11/2025 10:22

I agree with many here in that I cannot watch her on chat shows now.

She is an intelligent woman with a love and expert knowledge of Dickens. She is a very good actress and voice artist. Yet she is overwhelmingly known for explicit anecdotes, which she tells in a strangely coy 'Look at me, aren't I naughty?' way. She is also often rude to other guests.

I find her neither funny nor endearing and I don't see crudeness and vulgarity as a leap forward for women.

PuppyMonkey · 29/11/2025 10:23

Ooh, we have a “pearl clutching” for anyone playing MN Bingo. Grin

I think most comments are on here, its just a woman thats got a bit a fame, still human at the end of the day.
If you dont like it watch something else.

She was (is?) a very good actress

Why is coarseness necessary?

I like Graham Norton and find him and most of his guests funny

She is not

It would be interesting to see how Bette Davis or Peter Ustinov or Oliver Reed or Billy Connelly would have fared on the modern Graham Norton chat show. Or Mohammed Ali. Probably cut them off for a silly clip or the stupid red chair .

Go back to Eamon Andrews , Parkinson etc al. You'd have some Hollywood sleb on and if they went on too long about how great their new film was or whatever, one of the other guests would rip the piss out of them. Especially if that other guest was Spike Milligan or Peter Cook. They could never stay ' on message '.

Flatbellyfella · 29/11/2025 10:36

I didn’t watch the show, simply because I knew that Margollies would be her usual obnoxious self.

BunnyLake · 29/11/2025 10:36

On the few occasions I have accidentally seen her (for a few seconds, I avoid her like the plague), I always think I could never eat food she's cooked because I feel her coarseness has contaminated the food. It would make me heave just looking at it. I think my intense dislike of her started when I saw her on a talk show and she just farted all the way through it much to her delight. 🤢

hazelnutvanillalatte · 29/11/2025 10:37

Her naughty grandma shtick is really grating imo

It’s really wierd to me. She is clearly a very intelligent and talented woman so why on earth does she behave like that? I can only guess deep seated self esteem issues that go a long way back. She is the only woman celebrity I can think of who actually makes me feel physically sick.

NimbleDreamer · 29/11/2025 10:46

I used to think she was funny but now I just think she is disgusting. I'm no prude but her language and sexual anecdotes are just vile and inappropriate.

Yes, same here, she makes me feel a bit queasy.

I agree with PP- she's clearly an intelligent articulate woman, I dont understand why as soon at the camera points at her she turns into such an ignorant twat.

Also, that story about the man asking her for a blowjob in the woods - what is remotely funny about that?

Women constantly get harassed, sexually assaulted, raped and flashed and groped throughout their lives - why the fck would anyone find it hilariously funny that this bloke did this and she gave him a blowjob to be kind or whatever?

Thats not funny, its appalling given the context of what women have to put up with from men.

Gingefringe · 29/11/2025 10:47

I switched channels after watching for a while as it was so tedious and embarrassing to watch and the other guests just seemed so unconmfortable with ther. I switched back towards the end to watch Jessie J - who was phenomenal.

Beachtastic · 29/11/2025 10:47

She's mad, and not in a good way.

DelphineFox · 29/11/2025 10:48

I don't watch Graham Norton but I watch programmes MM does as she's intelligent and articulate and interesting. It's a shame she's so self conscious about her weight as there's so much more to her than that

WhiteCatmas · 29/11/2025 10:48

To be fair, if she was a polite 84 year old lesbian we’d likely never hear from her at all.

Myblueclematis · 29/11/2025 10:53

I watched her in The Marigold Hotel one, she was always talking about farting or shitting. It was amusing the first time but along with the wanking/blow job stories that seems to be her main topic of conversation.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 29/11/2025 10:58

She dominated every conversation and then they fawned all over her. I've never particularly liked her but she's getting worse.

kalokagathos · 29/11/2025 11:02

I love her. 😍

BoxingHares22 · 29/11/2025 11:15

I absolutely can't stand her,

This is probably a very good, if somewhat depressing, point.

KilliMonjaro · 29/11/2025 09:41

How does she seem racist?

Someone above has said, the Will,i.am interview. This well travelled actor who has been acting for years in many different and varied roles has never really met a black man before? Hmm I think not.
