Anecdote about wanking off three men in a random wood in Edinburgh or something. Everyone laughed hysterically.

Is it just me or have TV chat shows gone really downhill? Confused

Good luck finding anyone in showbiz who isn't an attention seeker 😅

But I’m not here saying those celebs don’t give a fuck, unlike you.

My definition of giving a fuck is different to yours I think

cucumberpeach · 02/12/2025 22:38

Well I hate toilet humour, things have to be intelligent to make me laugh, and I don't mind MM at all. I just roll my eyes at the sex stories tbh - I can't imagine working up such intense dislike of the woman. I think she would be a bit rude and scary to know, but I don't know her, so I just enjoy her being the opposite of everything a woman is meant to be, loudly and proudly on tv. Thank goodness for badly behaved women I say!

She's a woman in the public eye who just doesn't give a fuck. I find that immensely pleasing. As do many people evidently or she wouldn't keep getting invited onto these shows and asked to tell her stories. The po faced idea that she is somehow letting herself down and why doesn't she want to seem intelligent - confident people don't go around worrying about whether they seem intelligent or not! She is a bit rude, but the things people have said on here are 😮

I didn’t say she wasn’t intelligent or she let herself down. Try reading what people say to get an understanding of what they mean.
She is intelligent and must have a great store of anecdotes. That’s why it’s so annoying she carries on with trying to shock people. I’m not sure what point you are making but it isn’t in answer to anything I’ve said.

BoxingHares22 · 02/12/2025 22:53

Sarover · 02/12/2025 22:24

This absolutely. She’s a bit like a pick me cool girl or 1990s style ladette trying to catch the attention of men. It’s like deep down she feels that as an older lesbian woman she’s of not interest to the men unless she gets crude. About sex with men. It’s strange. Why no anecdotes about sex with women?

I agree

This! Love a woman who doesn't care what anybody thinks

Of course she would. She gets very testy if people don’t react. She absolutely cares what people think.

Everything a woman is meant to be you say? In which decade? Because in this one, this 61 year old doesn’t see MM as the opposite of womanhood. Just bloody boring.

napody · 29/11/2025 07:45

Me too.

Me three! I love her, she’s brilliant.

Timeforabitofpeace · 02/12/2025 23:28

She’s overdoing that personality trait. Yes, Miriam, we know you love to shock. We’ve heard it before.

It's horrible , really. So depressing. I still have copies of old Radio Times from the 70's. The quality of what was on offer was first class.

I do feel embarassed for the woman. We know about wanking and orgasm blah blah, we don't need peopl elike this.

Copies of the 1970’s Radio Times you say?

Surely they are now known as The BBC sex offenders register?

Sadly it is still unusual to see a woman who doesn't care about seeming appropriate and likeable in the public eye.

Did you see what she said to Will.i.am on Graham Norton? she was racist and it was embarrassing to watch. There are some times when we should aspire to be "appropriate" if the alternative is racist BS

PigeonsandSquirrels · 03/12/2025 07:32

I always thought she was quite funny but then I got her book where she tells this story and it’s really quite disgusting. Why paint women as people to wank off perverts in bushes out of kindness? That’s not something I know any one else to do… especially not my lesbian friends. It’s very odd.

She just goes too into the sex stuff. Shes also not even posh she just had elocution lessons so she’s choosing to talk like that. Her dad is Scottish and her mum’s Scouse.

I think much more racism is hidden in people who have learned how to say The Right Things

Here's the show. You don't have to go far in to find the deliberate foot-in-mouth-ery. The first thing she says to Greg is rude and the first thing she says to Will is inappropriate.

So when you repeated someone saying the great thing was MM wouldn’t care, and said you love a woman who doesn’t care what people think you didn’t mean that she doesn’t care what people think?
And you wonder why I’ve allegedly misunderstood you twice.

I'm afraid you have misunderstood. I don't think there is much point us continuing tbh

Given that they all met in the green room and they all meet and talk before the show means that she knew he was black before he came on to the studio floor. So she is putting on an act to pretend that she is surprised by his blackness. I can't work out if her appearance had racist elements or not and am veering towards it not being racist.

I must say I am quite looking forward to getting very old now. I am going to wank off loads of men in the woods and call people anything I bloody well want.

Err didn't she just say she doesn't know any black people outside of showbiz?

MM's opening gambit is indeed inappropriate but the guests build a fantastic rapport over those few minutes and MM is ultimately very admiring of will.i.am (who could not have been more of a gent). What shocks me is the rather nasty joke about travellers in Graham Norton's intro, the don't get afforded the opportunity to come back. Truly punching down, but GN gets away with it.

Even if it was true, why on earth bring it up in conversation?

I think that it leans very much into your idea of "much more racism is hidden in people who have learned how to say The Right Things".

No, I was making a point about respectability in general and how it often hides hypocrisy

She's not exactly the opposite of what women are supposed to be given that she talks about sex with men all the time despite dubiously claiming to be lesbian..it just seems so odd for someone not attracted to men to be so apparently obsessed with penises.

If she spoke about sex with women, that would be more groundbreaking, though arguably we don't need to hear about sex at all on Graham Norton...
