I am astonished they haven't got bored yet and moved on to a new 'target'.

Stuck record.

If I see one more PIP/Motability bashing thread I think I will lose my mind. I hide most of them now or just make a comment or two, but still.

I have been with my DH for 25 years. In that time, because of his disability, we have never once been able to walk along the street together holding hands. Do these fucking bastarding fuckwits not realise he and I would give his car and PIP away tomorrow to be able to do normal things like that?

It's relentless and totally not what decent people think.

Beyond the braying mob lies those that care. 💐

countrygirl99 · 03/12/2025 17:16

Whenever I see a Motability bashing one I'm reminded of when FILs obnoxious mate told him he could get a free car because of MILs disability and he could have any car he wanted. We tried to tell him it was bollocks but he wouldn't believe us that he wasn't going to be given any car let alone the Audi he was going to demand but he had to find out the hard way. Same mate was forever telling him rubbish like that but he never learned.

In a Tarantino film, a bullet through both knees and a comment "Now you can enjoy your free car" would be a scene.

You're right. I think those threads attract the bitter and spiteful who are maybe unhappy in their own lives.

pandora, I have (not very) merrily had a reporting spree on the latest disabled bashing thread so solidarity , sister! We'll see what the all new tough MNHQ does.

Yes, let's see if they live up to the promises.

That'll be about 1/10th then. The rest are very "Me too sir !!!!"

Notonthestairs · 03/12/2025 18:01

Earlier I briefly saw 1) a thread claiming a "cure" for autism - in fairness it was zapped.
And 2) a post suggesting that they (the poster) thought they would be better off having disabled children.

I was going to ask them if they had a specific disability wishlist but instead I logged off MN.

Be careful. MNHQ will wield the banhammer for sarcasm. It upsets the dim, apparently.

Surely this is a poster case for "AI" ?

ilovesooty · 03/12/2025 18:15

Over the last few days we've had some of the more unpleasant posters saying "Oh, I didn't mean people like you. Just the people who are pretending to be disabled, or are faking disabilities to get a free car"

Which thread was that Efacsen? I probably hid it...

I've got it hidden now too

Think it was the one titled something like 'people are getting irritated by disabled people' and included some some bizarre and extremely disgusting discussion about euthanasia for severely disabled 9 yr olds

Like I said there'd be nothing lost deleting the whole thing

Yep. Saw that one and hid it.

And yet those who are hoping to get into power will absolutely deny the right to abortion. Will ensure that maternity benefits are shelved and that the NHS is is a waste of money because men.

My Reform questionnaire has arrived. I shall ponder the best response - but it’ll be in Welsh.

Make sure to remove the bit with your name and address- don’t want them collecting data.

Yes, I cut off the name and address before I sent mine back.

Emma Monk on bsky has debunked a Sara Viine benefit bashing article and pointed out the uptick in benefit stories.

She also pointed out that there are no small boat crossings at the moment and ofcourse immigration is down.

It creates a void in scapegoating
