What time is your first alcoholic drink Christmas Day

In a similar vein to the 'what time do you have Christmas dinner' thread, what time do you have your first alcoholic tipple?

Bucks Fizz with an early brekkie, a mimosa at 11am brunch, Fizz at midday before lunch or are you very restrained until later in the day? Or perhaps do all the aforementioned!

We used to go the whole hog with Bucks Fizz but now we walk mid morning with dog. In more recent years we've not had a first drink until we get to inlaws around 3pm earliest. Partner is heading for his second booze free Christmas too this year.

There’s only DH and I, we have champagne while opening presents around 8am.

CandyCaneKisses · 26/11/2025 23:39

Nobody in our family drinks so none for us. My parents never drank and so we didn’t ever find any interest in it as boring as some may see that.

Whichone1 · 26/11/2025 23:39

We have champagne at breakfast so 9 am ish? We’re not big drinkers though at all- well then have a couple more throughout the day but I wouldnt say we’re drinkers-

Mimosa with breakfast around 10.30/11.00

Mayismymonth · 26/11/2025 23:39

Buck’s Fizz as soon as all the presents have been opened :)

Didntask · 26/11/2025 23:39

I'll have a Harvey's Bristol Cream about 11 when I start prepping veg for dinner.

InSpainTheRain · 26/11/2025 23:41

I don’t drink alcohol at all, DH will have a beer sometime on the evening.

mondaytosunday · 26/11/2025 23:42

At dinner time (4ish). I’m the only drinker in my family though my son may have a beer or two. My friend will have a glass while cooking but I’ve never really enjoyed that. It doesn’t occur to me to drink earlier.

Mynumberone · 26/11/2025 23:43

Usually from about 12.30.

Icanflyhigh · 26/11/2025 23:44

It's my birthday Christmas day, I'm going balls out. If the kids wke me at 6, I'm drinking champagne at 6.05am!!😂😂

LadyTable · 26/11/2025 23:45

3pm dinner although it's normally just me and one of our DC who likes a glass of wine.

DH and our other 2 DC don't bother.

There was a similar thread a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe how many MNetters were getting on the booze at breakfast! 🤣🤣

I mean fair play, but I do wonder if it plays a part in all the threads about families falling out, if they've been on it since 6 or 7am.

SharonEllis · 26/11/2025 23:47

Liquer chocs in sticking, so quite early, g&t around 12.

Same here, I'm not bothered about alcohol at all.

Don't drink alcohol... my parents didn't drink.
My daughters might have one as they wind down at evening .. but don't think they are bothered.

MinceSpyTeam · 26/11/2025 23:54

Look forward to a glass, or two, of rosé with Christmas dinner, which is early at 3 pm. Usually Bailey's Irish Cream after, DP has a beer or two, that's it really.

MoonWoman69 · 26/11/2025 23:55

Bucks Fizz while I'm making the dinner, then the rest of the champagne with dinner around 2pm, then I'm done for the day! I will sit on NYE and polish off another bottle of champagne while I'm watching Jools, then that's it for me! I'm not fit for anything if I start drinking too early!

HansHolbein · 26/11/2025 23:57

Bucks Fizz for breakfast! The timing of that will be dependent on when the children wake up…

PluckyChancer · 27/11/2025 01:28

None of us drink alcohol so we might have a glass of Aldi no secco or whatever it’s called with xmas dinner but to be honest, probably won’t bother.

Lostsadandconfused · 27/11/2025 01:37

Champagne with breakfast at around 10.

I usually won’t have another until lunch around 2.

JeRevien · 27/11/2025 01:53

With Christmas lunch, about 5 pm

FullOfMomsense · 27/11/2025 01:55

Coffee first for stocking opening and when the kids come in pre 7am. Then champagne for the rest of the day from 9/10 ish. Only small glasses, sipped with other soft drinks too

OSTMusTisNT · 27/11/2025 02:19

Generally not until our Xmas lunch. DH won't drink bucks fizz and he wouldn't have wine for Breakfast either so its not worth opening a bottle just for me.

And, if we're heading to DS, thats a 150 mile round trip and obviously that means no drink at all until we get home at night.

ChewbaccasMrs · 27/11/2025 02:49

Bucks fizz with breakfast about 9 am and then next drink is usually about 1.30-2 when were having Christmas dinner,so wine with the meal and then liqueurs/rum at the end of the meal.

Waitaminutewheresmejumper · 27/11/2025 03:09

I start cooking about 1, so may have my first glass then, but no earlier. For me it's just a random day with some presents and a roast dinner so doesn't really warrant booze for breakfast.
