A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Another benefit of the Nowcast model is the ability to question the assumptions that you would have the Conservatives on 27% and Reform on 26% in the same seat. You would imagine there has got to be some convergence in seats such as this. In reality meaning Reform or Conservatives would likely be polling around 40% . in 'reality' 40-42% will win 95% of all Constituencies. I have also said the nature of the National Emergency the Country will/is facing makes imperative that they work together in constructive ways from this moment on.

The problem with a 'merger' though being it would be offensive for people living in 'Easington' for instance who have in their minds good reason to hate the 'Tories' for generational historical reasons. Therefore, perhaps a way round this if Reform were 25- 30 seats short is a Confidence and Supply Agreement from the Conservatives could in theory work well. Thus, because i believe there must be some commonality in around 90% of policy platforms.

I agree. I'm not keen on a coalition between Conservatives and Reform but I'd accept a Confidence and Supply Agreement if it was needed for Reform to form a minority government - in the hope that the Conservative influence would minimise damage and then the Conservatives are still truly separate and could win the following election.

I'd prefer a minority Reform government to an unholy Left alliance destroying the UK for another 5 years!!

Of course, I'd rather Kemi won the next election outright🙂

Aha, Robert Jenrick rules out Tory-Reform deal before the next election.

EasternStandard · 03/12/2025 12:06

It’s probably a good idea to rule it out now. There’s ages to go.

I did hear a bit this morning and some of the stuff Tice was saying didn’t seem to apply, eg they were lower on benefits and around the EHRC as Kemi has spoken on both. But it doesn’t really matter at this stage, they can set out their stall separately.

The left might want to join up but the Greens accepting Mahmood’s asylum policies seem a stretch for example.

And only Starmer likes digital ID really (with Blair in the background).

Times Radio skewering Starmer

Good.
Its a universal opinion now, except MN of course.

Starmer has been in the UK for a whole week now I think. That must be a record. 😂

The Times, listing all the porkies from Reeves.

Rachel Reeves has long made political hay using her prowess as a national chess champion to demonstrate her strategic mind and competitive spirit.

However, a former junior champion has now accused her of misrepresenting her credentials when she claimed that she had been the British girls under-14 champion, saying that “in reality, she was joint 26th out of 34”.

Reeves has been criticised for false statements on her CV before, including for saying that she had worked at the Bank of England for a decade when she had worked there for five and a half years.

She also claimed on her LinkedIn profile that she had been an economist at Halifax Bank of Scotland, when she actually worked in a managerial role in the complaints handling department of the retail banking division.

Joint 26th out of 34….

Reeves has been mediocre her entire life -
she just cannot see it.

Rather, it’s more a case of us not being able to recognise her brilliance.

Her father has a lot to answer for. As does Starmer’s for that matter.

I'm with you 100% on this. Reform world destroy whatever is left of the economy once Labour fuck off. I simply couldn't trust them with the country's finances.

That's really good to see. Not sure how Starmer has improved though!

Upstartled · 03/12/2025 14:35

And the Tories have got a corresponding boost in the voting intention
Reform 30 (-)
Labour 21 (-)
Conservatives 21 (+2)
LibDem (-1)
Green 11 (+1)

I think the two child cap has been a bug bear for the left since its inception, so will have got a boost there.

I think it's good news the the Conservatives can build momentum when the economy is the order of the day. We'll have to see what happens but, I think this is their most secure platform and offers them the best - what do you stand for - distinction over other parties.

Off topic but a great call by the WI.

The Women’s Institute has banned transgender women from being members.

The National Federation of Women’s Institutes revealed on Wednesday it can no longer legally offer formal membership to transgender women from April next year in light of the Supreme Court judgment.

I wouldn’t call it a great call to be fair. Both the WI and GG had to be dragged kicking and screaming back to sanity due to the threat of legal action; their lawyers told them they would lose.
Head of the WI still repeating the cult mantra ‘transwomen are women’ on R4 Woman’s Hour this morning.
So yes, I’m delighted but they can still FOTTFSOF
